Just got a 1976 Bally Freedom. Was sitting in a house for 15 years.

Credit reel in the back box reads 9. Hitting the start button causes the score motor to turn for a moment, but then stops. The reset relay doesn't activate. If I manually activate the reset relay, a game will start, score reels go to zero, the flippers work, etc, but the coil in the pic, not the bonus counter, attached under the playfield, stays energized. Manually hitting bonus advancing switches on the playfield cause the score to increase erratically, and the bonus lights on the center of the playfield advance by themselves.

I have the schematic, but not the best at reading one yet. I have a multimeter and can solder pretty well. I am in northern VA (but feels like Siberia, heh).

I appreciate any help. I can take as many pictures as necessary, just wasn't sure what might be good off the bat. Here is a video of the behavior -

Thanks in advance.

If the Reset relay doesn't activate when you start a game, set your 1st Coin Chute adjustment to 1 play, and Inspect and diagnose this circuit with Alligator clip jumper wires

After setting the council chute to 1 as you said, with the playfield raised, game started, but was erratic, went straight to ball 2, all kinds of weirdness.

After putting the playfield down, I could start a game and it seems to be working 100% actually. With the playfield up, that counter under the playfield (which seems to be the 10s motor), stays energized. Is that due to old brittle wiring?

Is this score motor what keeps running?

No, that motor doesn’t actuate when 10 pts are scored. When 10 pts are scored, this mech actuates.

It could be that one of the spinners is making contact when the playfield isn't horizontal

Ah, will take a closer look at that. Thank you.
