Great News

I had an email conversation with Wade Krause today about making the Gottlieb Atlantis Playfields and all we need is the commitment of 20 folks for this project to happen.

Why am I pushing for this? Most likely because I am picking up a new to me Atlantis in a week that could use a new Playfield.

If you are interested you must pm me your contact info and i'll post a updated list as we move forward obtaining commitments. I will post a thread in RGP as well as Pinside, so please only respond to one or the other online.

The price should be about what the others have been going for in the 500.00 range. The timing for production would not be until 2016 sometime, but we must have commitments now to be put on the waiting list

Well I am in for one, how about you? only 19 more left.

8/8/15 Edit: Looks like the price has gone up a bit so figure on a Playfield costing $600.00 + Shipping which is currently $60.00, but the great news is that Wade has committed to reproducing these.

10/20/16 Edit: All Playfields Sold! Thanks again to Wade for making these and those of you who committed to buy one or more to make this happen.

If I didn't already own an Atlantis with a minty PF, I'd be in!
I'd really like to nab one of his Kings and Queens PFs.

If I owned an Atlantis with a ratty playfield, I would be all over this.

#6 9 years ago

if he will ship to australia, count i'm in

#7 9 years ago

Even with a good playfield, I would stash one as a spare. Count me in.

Just last night, as I was scrubbing the years of grime and deeply embedded nicotine from our Atlantis playfield, I said aloud, "all we can do is pray that Wade decides to do an Atlantis."

I'm in.

#10 9 years ago

Things are looking really good so far. In one day we already have tentatively 9 folks wanting in.

I'm sure there will be more folks jumping aboard very soon.

I'm definitely interested.

I will have to think about it. My atlantis playfield is not perfect, but so is the rest of my machine. If I go down the dark "perfection" path, I might feel the pressure to do a cab repaint, buy a new backglass, restore all the metal, and buy new plastics...

That being said I am glad to see this project existing! I am excited by it, I just don't want to "over-commit". Atlantis is my only EM, but it is a great argument for games not needing to be super deep to be fun.

#13 9 years ago

mine is nice but i'm in for one just to have it. Wades PF's never go down in price.
even if I don't use it 2 years later it would sell for more than what I paid for it....

I like the idea of a 'perfect' playfield and backglass in an imperfect, high-score etched cab. As long as it hasn't been painted over or falling apart, the history is important, imho. But gameplay is everything.

#15 9 years ago

Put me down for one too please. Wade makes the best repro playfields, hands down.

#16 9 years ago

I'm in for one.

#17 9 years ago

WOW!

14 people so far wanting at least one Playfield each and it's only been a day and a half since this thread has been posted!

Still room guys. 20 is the minimum but I am sure we are going to go over that number in no time, and yes more is better.

Make it 18. I'll take another one

#22 9 years ago

I'll take one. I'll have to find or make an Atlantis to go with this. How about a backglass as well? That's 19.

Great title, I love mine (nice play field already), good resale value, so well worth investing in a new field. Nice going Ken! Wade is da man!

My Atlantis has a pretty decent playfield, so I don't need one. Still have a Quick Draw playfield that I haven't installed yet - not to mention the NOS Sinbad that I have not gotten around to installing...

#28 9 years ago

Bwaaaah!!! I missed out on "El Dorado". I hope he does a rerun on it. Hail Atlantis!

#29 9 years ago

Awesome News Guys!

Wade got back to me and said that Atlantis is now officially on his to do list all thanks to you and the guys on RGP!

All he needs now is for someone with a Playfield local to him to copy from. Please contact Wade directly if you can help with this: [email protected]

and now for some not so interesting breaking news...............................

Would Wade do other games with desirability besides Atlantis? I'd love a new Abra Ca Dabra PF also!

Can't hurt to ask, but at this point, I think his plate is full for quite some time. One thing he knows is he doesn't want to get stuck with doing all the work, and not selling the fields. Popular (and plentiful) *and* high value titles have the best shot of becoming a reality. Most collectors are only willing to spend that kind of cash for that combination. I love Abra, it sort of fits that criteria, but not as high a dollar value game as some others. Also, I've rarely seen ones that were completely blasted paint-wise. I'm not speaking for Wade, nor trying to discourage anyone's efforts. Just my perspective based on discussions I've had with Wade over the last couple years, and my own experience in the hobby.

Case in point, I have two games right now that could both use a nice new repop field. Lawman and Dimension. Both are heavy projects that will need a lot of love. Which title is deserving of his expertise? Pretty obvious right? I bought the Lawman for my own personal desire, but Dimension will get the royal treatment with new parts like coin door etc. Eventually that project will be sold to a collector and should be able to bring decent money. The problem with asking about that game, is its also low production, so there may be fewer folks that would need a new field. Many factors involded on this topic, but the bottom line is having enough demand to make it a win-win for us, and for all the work Wade puts into his craft.

Great that this title is so popular that we will get a new Playfield for it, and so is Wade as he is monitoring this and a RGP thread regarding Atlantis.

Looks like Wade has this covered as he is actually likes the game so much he is buying one for himself so now he can copy the Artwork from it
