    Yea, going back together!

    #253 4 years ago

    Looking good.

This must be very satisfying to accomplish and you must be very proud of each restoration.

Does your day job translate into any of these skills?

    #254 4 years ago

Well sorta, i'm a graphic artist so those skills come in handy.

The plan is to transplant a circular piece of laminate the exact same size

Brilliant! (Just catching up on your past month or so of posts after some surgery.)

    #264 4 years ago

    That is freakin awesome!

Doin' fine. Right side inguinal hernia. Should only be a week or two of recovery. This thread certainly made my downtime a lot more enjoyable, though.

Did you find the belt for your tape deck?

I recently had to buy a belt and capacitor for a reel to reel. I called a local shop, Stansifer Radio Co. out of Bloomington and they talked me through figuring out what I needed. Maybe you have a similar shop around if you look in the yellow pages.

    #269 4 years ago

I'm actually on my way to a place that should have it.

    That is sweet looking.

How do the splices in the formica look after clear coat? I liked your technique for fixing those blemishes. It was such a simple idea I would have overlooked it.

    #272 4 years ago

They look pretty good, I'll take better pictures. Not perfect but drastically better.

Touchups are decent but i want to work on them a little more and then clear this side again.

Was going to just live with it, but the perfectionist in me kicked in after the rebuild started. Luckily the 2 controls come off pretty easily.

Were there any touch ups necessary on the clown or elephant?

Will this be in an arcade or your personal collection?

    #288 4 years ago

Nope, they just needed a good cleaning.

Yes, i plan on being buried in this cabinet.

Thanks! I like using clear because it helps it all blend together, makes the colors really pop, protects the touchups and keeps it nice and durable for another 40 years.
