    Found the material to cut new rods for the elephant cables.

    The motor on the tape deck had seized up. Pulled it apart and used some sand paper on this drill bit to clean it out.

    Also cleaned up the tape head.

    Had to replace a couple capacitors on the sound/amp board. They are original and apparently scarce. I guess if this thing takes a crapper i could just buy a Sony Walkman for $10 and stick it in here

    The 100K volume pot was toast. Luckily had one in a bag of parts i bought in a bulk buy.

    Need to find a replacement belt for the tape deck. Anybody know where to look?

    1/8" diameter by 4 1/2" long.

    It's bigger diameter, but I'm sure you already thought of a pinball rubber. I have heard of others using them on tape decks.

    They used to have those VCR repair kits at all of the electronics stores........ here you go...

    Not sure, maybe. It needs to be rubber or something similar that has some grip.

    Inside of the door was a bit chewed up from people trying to pry it open.

    Got some bondo on there now just need to paint it.

    Underneath the metal instruction plate there's some untouched laminate. The plan is to transplant a circular piece of laminate the exact same size. From here...
