Grand Tour ( electronic )

Brought this game back from the dead.
Originally this was just a playfield - the Backglass was remade-
A donor Gottlieb cabinet and a God knows what donor head.
Cabinet needs some love and good 2 go.
So far 5 days of weekend work including - building the processor - rewiring the playfield -playfield modification - programming and Bog.

Gameplay

Fly-over

Some thoughts as a Grand Tour owner;

Very cool you have the game working! The electronics don't bother me as trying to get an EM working again with just a playfield would be a daunting if impossible task.

I like the spinner on the left, nice addition, though I would have kept the locked gate on the right side for advancing cities. For the flippers perhaps I'm a purest and gone with the small originals, but it is yours to do what you please and perhaps you were working with what you had on hand.

What are you using for electronics? Display?

At least you won't ever have to replace the Game Over Trip coil like my son & I did last night on one at the VFW Pinball Hall.
What a PITA.

* The flippers are modded to be 2-1/4 inch long.I had tried several standard types in there
and play testers had found the drain opening " exhausting " .

*The Gate is now virtual and wont advance the city unless its lit , regardless it scores 100 points
with different sounds for each respectively.
The game is more geared around achieving all the cities in a single game
and not a carry over feature from game to game.
The score has also been extended from 1999 to 9999 to accommodate this.

Its never going to be an out of box 1964 EM but its a nice playfield and fun to play.

*The display is a multiplexed unit ( hence why it appears to flicker on camera ) i designed using a 20pin micro controller.
It is self contained and made for EM score reel replacement - and has ;
- dry contact inputs for 1 , 10 , 100 points
- current amount being scored eg - - 5 0 , -1 0 0 , - - - 1
- tally obviously
- game over - highest score to date
- replay out pulse for knocker / credit unit
- match

Further to the removal of the Tour gate.

For those who dont know the rules of this game.

The tour gate is opened 2 ways;
- by the centre upper rollover
- by collecting 3/4 of the button/mushroom targets
- 4/4 opens the outlane gate

Because I made the gate virtual

- the centre rollover is timed at 7 seconds and is updatable...so 7 seconds from the last actvation
- the 3/4 rule remains opens the Tour gate and lites the loop switches for 50 points
- the 4/4 rule opens the outlane gate and lites pops slings for 10 points
for the rest of the ball, regardless of the outlane gate reset.
- the rollover buttons score when 5 points when both are collected or 50 points if the
outlane gate has been collected.

Bonus is awarded at the end of each ball x100 for each city collected.

A replay is awarded at 3000 points , this generally means you've collected 3-4 cities

If you told me you gutted a complete EM to experiment with a processor, I'd feel a little sick inside. But considering you started with a few random pieces married up I find the end result really awesome. Funny how the back story matters makes such a difference. Nice work!

...apart from some decals and some speaker mesh.Done.
I'll show another picture with the decals but pretty much that's it.
