I purchased a Bally Dixieland Bingo and was told that I had to take the 1962 Shoot-A-Line bingo that was hacked non-working and had the wiring harness cut in half. It was in 3 pieces disassembled into body, head, playfield, and had a box of "spare" parts. So the "FREE" S-A-L went in the truck destined for "when I can get to it status." After a couple months, I started putting it back together - legs on body, head on top, playfield underside pieces straightened out and screwed back on, and then the wiring. The entire wire bundle was cut so I spent a day attempting to splice 20+ pairs of wires back together the best I could. So far so good. I got the schematics from IPDB.org and attempted to make sense of the coin door, lifter motor, shutter motor, switches, and such. Clearly there were many hacks and modifications over the years. The ball trough for example had the switches cut off, a new exterior button was added to the ball lifter, and mysterious wires were run to the counter and R button. I'm not an electrical engineer guy and knew I would need help. I got that help over the weekend from Nick Baldridge and he's got all the hard stuff well on its way. He might be working on a podcast about this effort so be sure to check out his site about the technical details of the backbox wiring, coil challenges, and the other unique but competent hacks this machine offered.
Below I will be documenting the cosmetic fixes I am pursuing while waiting for coils and other parts to arrive.
