I've been working on this machine now for about 3 months off and on. It doesn't appear to have ever been taken apart. The coil sleeves are all aluminum and overall a pretty dirty and grimey machine. However the playfield and plastics appear to be in great shape. The play counter shows 6000 plays, but I really don't put much faith in those being all that accurate.
I have completely disassembled all of the steppers and score reels for the light box. Everything was cleaned, degreased in the ultrasonic, polished, lubricated, and reassembled. Luckily nothing was broken.
Next I moved onto the motor board. Again everything was broken down and cleaned. All of the relays were cleaned as well as all of the switch contacts. Score motor had a complete teardown, cleaning, polishing, and lubricated.
Anything that was removed had to be thoroughly cleaned and polished. Here are some before and after pics.
Moving onto the playfield next.

Interior cabinet pics. Bottom section had a "toe kick" hole that I placed a piece of 1/4" over.

Not sure this spring will work out for the ball release mech.

Moving along with the cabinet and playfield restoration. The playfield is now done with the exception of flippers which I forgot to order. (Am I the only person that polishes all of the screw heads?) All of the plastics are original with no cracks and the marbleized posts are complete as well. I refinished the wood and just need 2 decent looking cigarette holders.
I now have to paint the replacement head I had made up. It will be difficult matching the cabinet colors on this 60 year old machine.

Hardly!

Looking good.

It might be okay if you flip and reinstall it. FWIW, I simply replaced mine with a normal barrel spring at the plunger.

Following this. I just finished a Big Deal. Always looking to learn new resto techniques to improve what I do

Beautiful art on this game. You didn't happen to scan the playfield while it was disassembled, did you? I'd be interested in a digital copy of the art.

Good tip, and I did just that. Retracts perfectly.

Sorry, I did not scan it.

Things are moving along again. I just finished up on a replacement head for the machine. The original head was damaged beyond repair, so I had one made with poplar and it came out great.

Looking forward to powering this up soon.
