I'm starting to fix up my first woodrail project, a 1957 Williams that has a couple issues. The first one is that the score motor turns way too slow. If I activate it and run it for 45 seconds it runs fine. I assume that there is old grease on it that eventually heats up after it runs for a while. Is there an easy way to resolve this issue? The 2nd issue is that the game has incorrect flipper coils. The coils have two lugs and the eos switches have been bypassed. It works, but a a wire was placed on the coil fuse which I assume was to compensate for the flipper mod. Can someone provide the correct flipper coil part number for this game? Are the flippers supposed to work after the game is over?

Thank you for the reply. I'll try some mineral spirits on swabs. I've invested in some new plastics and pop-bumpers and need new targets. Learning the hard way that the older games can be money pits.

Seems everything on the playfield is still active when the game ends. I pulled the mech board out and cleaned up the score motor with alcohol and paper towels and q-tips. There was a thick layer of grease on the carousel that seems to have been slowing down everything when it make contact with the switches. Also, I put two drops of 3 in 1 oil where the shaft for the carousel meets the gear housing. It's been working perfectly for the past few day. Note that the gears are sealed in a metal box that is riveted shut. I am thankful that I did have to attempt in cracking that case open. The game is now completely functional, although I still need to consider replacing the flipper coils.

Good news is that the Shay Arcade Group has reproduced the plastics. They do not list them on the website, but they have them. I'd recommend contacting them asap. I bought mine about 8 months ago. As you are standing in front of the game, the fuse on the mech board on the far right is for all the lights..check it and it might be worth cleaning up the holder. Also, the Jones plug behind the fuses is in line to the lamps...check that plug for broken wires and make sure to clean it.

My old plastics were horrible are smelled like vinegar. I think they were rotting..

I have all four fuses in on my game. Maybe this is unneeded or worse..dangerous? Everything works. The game came with four in it. Wish there was some online documentation available.

I'll check it. It came with a wire bridging one of the fuses. I assumed it was for the flipper coil mod I mentioned earlier. I'm going to remove the wire and one of the coil fuses and see how it goes. I'm also going to try to clean off the paper labels.

Playfield cleaned and waxed..some ware, but not too bad considering its age.
