The leg is missing the bolts that run sideways through leg at a 90 degree angle to the bolts that attach the leg to the body. The missing bolts are anti-split bolts. I defer to others on recommendations about remediating a leg split, but I'd recommend that you install the anti-split bolts after doing your repair. They are designed to prevent vertical splits.

I missed those anti-split bolts in your earlier shots. All the original hardware seems to be present, so my earlier point does not apply.
