Picked up a 1952 Twenty Grand. The play field was stripped by the previous owner. I just cleaned the PF with Naptha and a microfiber cloth. Someone has done pretty sketchy touch ups. There is no clear coat, and I am concerned about harming the original paint trying to strip bad touch up. Could use some advice. I have done about a dozen PF touch ups, but all on late 60's to late 70's games. Is it worth trying to strip or sand the touch up's off? Including the very rough touch ups around the two pop bumpers. Or is this a game I should just clean as well as possible, then just wax it as is?

So to partly answer my own question. Did second round of cleaning w Novus 2. It took off some of the black or dark smudge marks, and of course polished the paint somewhat. But not sure how much more aggressively I should clean. Also pulled the pop bumpers. Pretty certain going to sand the old yellow paint off and airbrush in new yellow.

Thanks, that is along the lines of what I was thinking. Took one more pic this morning that shows how rough the bottom is above the “push” out holes. Not sure if I have the skill or desire to sand this, then fill and level it then do the extensive touching up.

Yep really not sure how far going to take this. Started working w sand paper and alcohol on the really bad pop rings. Will see how that goes then decide on bottom areas.
