One of my favorite games in my pure mechanical collection.

My game is 100% original except for some parts that have been replaced for functionality and or broken replacements (star wheel, cash box, front door, marquee). But the cabinet, legs, playfield is all original great condition for its age.

Mine is disassembled in the moment. I am trying to clean the playfield in the moment. Lot of work as i do not want to damage the paintings on the playfield. Any tips to get a good result?

I use Novus 2 with a soft synthetic cloth. Go slowly to minimize removal of the varnish.

The "paint" is actually painters ink, and will desolve with water or alcohol.

Occasionally I've resorted to a magic erasure with alcohol to clean deeply ground-in dirt from the ball track (from the shooter lane up and around), but you have to be very, very careful as that will strip the varnish. Don't touch any paint with the magic eraser.

Ahhhh the memories.....I had the pleasure of opening, not owning, an antique store find of a NIB World Series in 1981 or close.
A wooden Crate with straw, and a never touched game was inside.

What an unboxing experience, to set up and play a Brand New Game!

I had a few PMs.....I dont know where the game is today, it was owned by Dick Proschel, Prochels Flowers in Westbury.
This was 35 years ago. The Balls were in a cotton draw spring bag, if my memory holds.
Came with a tube of lube, instructions on assembly, a polishing cloth.
It was set up in a florist shop, for either a penny or nickel play.

Everything wiped off shiny, close to new, and the game, well, it played new.....phenomenal to play the first few games!

I personally missed buying this by a few days. It was picked up around cold Spring Harbor at an antique store, that bought it from an Estate. I think he paid $200-$300...

I did a small article on this for Jim and Candace Tolbert, in Amusement Review Magazine...theres a few pictures, I think.

Picked up a machine that is a bit of a project, but nearly complete. Were some versions made without the marquee and backglass stand?

Can someone please measure the backglass for me (including thickness)? I need to get a new one made as mine hadn't had a glass in decades.

Cleaned out some mouse turds from the cabinet and found a wire gate that goes above the Runs hole. So I only have one, but I figure it isn't really necessary, in that those gates are there just to be sure people don't pick the game up and try and dislodge those balls up the playfield, correct?
I'm happy to say the shooter lane gate and the bounceback spring are there and secure.

The game is cleaning up really nicely. The mechs all need to be taken apart and redone, but they fundamentally work.
Oh, and no spring on the shooter rod mech.

the springs on the the ball-loader mech and the tilt mech are also bust. Anyone know which ones I can buy to replace them adequately? (and the shooter spring)

Only other thing missing is two spacers that go under the metal rail, afaik

Oh hell yes, thank you! I am going to try and take apart and redo the major mechs and see if I can get them going, and then will order whatever help I need from him. Definitely the marquee and tray for it for sure!
Love that he has refined the tilt spring.
I can probably get away with a jerry-rigged ball-loader spring much more easily than a tilt spring.

Enjoy your new acquisition, it‘s baffling to me how much fun to play that game actually is! Between TNA, Iron Maiden and Batman 66 my Rockola‘s get played the most at the moment, nearly every day! Got to 11 runs the other day. there is just such a strange fascination. It also affected my kids, it‘s awesome to see them enjoy a pin they can actually figure out on their own. they know they have to be extra careful with the „Grandpa-pinballs“

pretty pretty pleeeeaasse? I would much rather go off the exact measurements of a pre-existing glass that fudge it by measuring the inner grooves of the machine

Playfield Glass -- pretty sure mine is original "heavy" glass used in the 30's so measurements are accurate
15" by 34 1/2 " and exactly 3/16" thick

Wanting to keep this post alive! Just purchased a Rockola World Series. It's rough, it's broke and its' black...which normally these are green. Must be the first run. Here we go!

Wow! Love that Army Navy game! Such a rare one!
My first issue was the runner turntable. Over the years the original was warped. I went on line and found a company that made aluminum disk, did my measurements, printed them up a CAD and use that as a template.

Here's the end result. After I got everything lined up with the baseunit, I welded the shaft, added the nubs to the bottom and it worked like a champ! Cool game!

Probably second run as it has one hole for the legs instead of 2. But early as its black. Great work on the bases! Ive seen a few broken ones before.

I think that you meant the reverse, that is the 2 hole legs being the early "1st run" Jigsaw style.

Here's the CAD file. Now don't cut the holes for the balls 5/8 or 6.25...the balls will fall straight thru.

What I did is printed this file, ordered a 7" disk that was 1/8th thick, then laid a printed file of the measurements on the disk and then drilled. 1/8" is actually too thick, so I had to belt sand it to be thinner. Then I added some thin layers of wood to the outside of the disk to make it close to 7 1/8 as possible. The hole process was not easy and I probably wouldn't want to do it again, unless I had to.
