Picked up this Genco Silver Cup in the same recent auction as my Fleet Jr. It came to me not working, with missing playfield screws indicating someone had been at work inside (Uh-oh):

Once I opened it up, I was relieved to see all the mechs in place and no signs that anyone had opened it up further than pulling out the playfield.

Totalizer looks to be intact and the labels look nice, so just a cleaning and lube needed:

Neat, it’s a 1930’s Yankee Handyman ratcheting screwdriver, and it’s like new:

I cleaned it up, then each day for a week, I’d wipe it down with Feed-N-Wax to let the playfield absorb the oils:

Polished the non-removable playfield parts, a final wipe down with Rapid Prep to remove the surface oils and wax, then a coat of Blitz to seal everything and smooth it out:

I was planning to make a new lock bar to replace the homemade one, but then decided I kind of liked the story that the old homemade one told and kept it. My desire to let the machine tell some of its history didn’t extend to the cracked cab and clown puke paint job. I hope whoever did this paint is still around, as they’d love adding color LEDs to their EMs… .

The apron photos in this thread show my sloppy attempt at recreating the apron card. Thankfully, Miguel351 took on the task of making a great reproduction. For your coin slide, I’d just buy whatever is cheapest of the right era on EBay, since you have to build the door, too.
