So, after serious consideration, I have decided to go after my grail pin. I got my kick ass minivan rented (Avis will not put a firebird on the hood of their vehicles in honor of Smokey and the Bandit) and have just completed check point one of the journey. Im currently in Effingham, IL....made it in around midnight from KC. Thought I would share some of the journey.....

Tomorrow, I pick up the grail pin and start the trek back.
Im sure you Pinside Sleuths will guess my grail pin quickly

safe driving !

1400 miles round trip, it better be for a great price. Gas about $150- tolls? if any and the bandit rental? Hope it's at least got a CB in it to play the part.
Drive safe and no reading Pinside while driving!

I hope you’re playing some Jerry Reed

East bound and down, loaded up and truckin’
We’re gonna do what they say can’t be done

#20 6 years ago

Agree with RWH:
Gotta be one of the Star Treks.
OP uses the word trek in his first entry.
Anyway, I've always said
"If 'ya want 'em, sometimes
'ya just gotta go get 'em"
Had no idea somebody would
be willing to go such lengths.
Congrats on chasing down your grail.
Your avatar and name fit you well.

I took this pic at the Brass Armidillo on a recent road trip. They have a lot of ‘different’ things. Have a safe and successful grail trip

Agreed, on his wishlist, and about 700 miles from MO to Columbus OH, where one sits NIB in the Pinside Classifieds.

Thanks Man! Jesus I though our roads were rough in KC. Indianapolis is painful!

Sure does and my rims know it! Hit a pot hole on 865 & Ford (roughly) called INDOT and told them, two months later was back down there and yep pot hole still there was in left lane!

Better question is if you're going to spend the money to have a grail NIB shipped and have the time to go get it yourself WHY WOULDN'T YOU!?!?

Absolutely no reason to trust a shipping company AND you get to take a road trip? Hell yeah. I'm cranking up the Spotify and anyone that doesn't like my singing can take a hike back.

I love a good road trip! Safe travels and congrats!
