Greetings!

Can someone provide me some insight into the best way to clean the Lower Playfield Glass/Cover? We're about 800 games on our Premium and it looks like there is a "fog" (collection of dust??) near the bottom of the glass/cover (near the flippers on the LP). I tried to grab a picture but it just doesn't come out very well.

Is it appropriate to just unscrew this piece from the PF and clean it as I would anything else? Or would it be better to open the pin up, raise the field, remove the lower PF and clean from there?

Any other help or shared experience on how to best take care of this Glass/Cover and the Lower PF? I feel like my Munsters is like 97% clean and well cared for, with the exception of the LP glass/cover. My search found some conflicting advice, so I would love to hear from folk on how they regularly maintain this!

Thank you!

Quoted from ThatOneDude:

Remove the window and polish it with something like Meguiar's Ultimate Compound. Mine was scratched and fogged and that stuff worked like a charm.

Would any of the Novus products do something similar to the Meguiar's Ultimate Compound? I ask because I can't get the UC until late May and I would love to work on this while I'm in Quarantine!

Maybe with a lot of elbow grease. I used Novus 3 and 2 and barely cleaned it up at all. UC buffed it clean in short order.
Perhaps another compound like that might work.

Appreciate the info. Did you use a buffer pad, or just a microfiber cloth? If buffer pad, any suggestions? I've got some UC on the way now.

Is there a way to adjust Grandpa’s trough ejector power setting? Looks like you can adjust power for all flippers.
Thx

Yes it's in the Game's Settings. I believe they factory default to HARD, and I would absolutely suggest putting them to NORMAL (both the trough ejector and the flippers). NORMAL helps the flippers be a bit more accurate and hit better shots. HARD seems to just cause chaos.

Quoted from MK6PIN:

Alignment really not as bad as some state, just make sure you're using a quality torx T10 driver, not an offbrand which may not fit exactly. Window drops in place, don't go crazy on tightening, and use a straightedge to make sure it's flush w playfield ( I just use my finger to feel for a ridge).
Happy cleaning!!!

Which version do you have? I have a Munsters B&W Premium, and the LPF window has phillips screws on mine, seemed pretty easy to level and ensure it was set. Now I'm curious as to why that's different!

Sadly the code issues have been discussed over and over, Munsters really isn't a newbie friendly pin the shots are hard the out lanes are hungry and it plays fast. That doesn't make for a very fun game for new players and from what I have seen locally people just don't like playing it in league, tournaments or on location in general.
Mine has been sitting folded up in storage for a bit now waiting for some code love. I tried to sell it and other than giving it away nobody wanted it so I will hold out for new code and hopefully it will become a more desirable pin as it should be.

Truly a case of, "to each their own". My wife, who prior to our Munsters purchase, was not that into pinball. She played Munsters and almost instantly fell in love, and I've watched her go from absolute newb to "holy shit you cracked 100m with ease" on this table. In fact, Munsters is now the reason our collection is growing because she's taken more interest. I'm also a fan, but I understand why people may not enjoy it in it's current state.

Hey everyone! My wife is constantly getting in my ear about our "broken" Munsters, and I'm hoping to dive in and get the fix done. We've owned this since 2019 and it has gotten regular play over those two years. Back in September, Grandpa's Scoop started turning every ejected ball into a house ball... right down the middle with no way to save.

Upon investigation, I found a crack in one of the metal wings (left side) that is responsible for the diversion of the ball when ejected.

I ordered Cliffy's protector for the Grandpa Scoop, but I haven't been able to find ample instructions on the best way to replace this piece. I believe I can identify everything I would need to remove or take apart in order to replace this piece, except for the two screws that actually anchor it into to place (the two bolts behind the scoop). It appears as if I need to go under the playfield in order to access these two.

I'm hoping someone here has replaced this piece and can give me some advice on the best way to approach this. Should I try to remove those two bolts first (under the playfield) and then remove the pieces around the scoop on the playfield. Any advice would be welcome!

Thanks everyone!

Quoted from cabal:

it's quite a long time since i did it. But i don't think i needed to get the two screws holding the metal protector in place from the under side.
As i remember i did it from above. I needed to loosen the post on the left side of the scoop.
i did not remove the marilyn ramp but i remove the plastics connected to the ramp, the grandpa plastic, the flasher. Then i removed the two screws holding the metal thing. As the metal got not loose and it was a little pressed down by the post, i loosend it. After this i was able to lift it over the metal scoop. It was tricky but can be done.
i hope this helps a little? After putting in cliffys protector i never had to do it again.

Thanks I'll give it a shot this weekend. I realized after reading your response and taking a look again, the reason I thought I would need to go under the playfield is that they are two BOLTS holding down the back protector around the scoop, not screws. So I figured I would have a nut on the underside that I would have to manage. Do those two bolts ring any bells or do you still think you did it from the top?

found a post where you can see what i am speaking off. there two of these and you loose them from top.
on the left is the post i was speaking of. It may press down the metal.

THANK YOU! My impatient self decided to just dive in and not wait for the weekend.. I did have to remove that post, which caused me to go under the playfield to remove a single nut, but it was not the nightmare I thought it might be. The two bolts/screws I was worried about came off pretty easily, and had their own threading in the PF.

My wife is currently going ham on it now that it is fixed. Once she realized that I was doing the repair, she waited patiently with me the whole time, and even kept my screws/nuts organized. The Cliffy Scoop protector went in well, no more HOUSE BALLS out of Grandpa's Scoop.

Happy wife, happy life, and now all 5 pins can be played simultaneously!

Thanks to everyone who helped guide me through this with their own experiences.
