How about the OP pound glass instead of sand.

Quoted from greatwichjohn:Yes it was lost with a bunch of other stuff. Sorry about that.
Only day 3 looking for the big whale investor. There are many out there, so time will tell this month. The person will get a detailed plan of the game. It is not drop $100k US into my lap. It will be performance goals. I am definitely serious to have a new pinball for March 2022. There is no problem bringing in the needed help for 1 game. Plan B is $10k US which is the next stage if the big whale is not found starting August 1.
Thanks for stating your plan a 10th time…. Now I understand it!

Well if your goal was March 2022, I'd say your running a bit behind Captain.
Quoted from benheck:I am starting to feel secondhand embarrassment for the OP.
I don't. This has been very educational for me. For instance, I've learned that "rich people" actually care about money and watch it like a hawk... Who knew? That is like saying "thin people" are thinner than "fat people" because they eat less calories... Oh, it's not metabolism, just less food? Again, who knew?
Quoted from benheck:I am starting to feel secondhand embarrassment for the OP.
I’ll drink to that.
Quoted from greatwichjohn:Plan B is $10k US which is the next stage if the big whale is not found starting August 1.
If I can’t steal $100,000 from someone, I’ll have to settle for stealing $10,000 from 10 people.
Quoted from greatwichjohn:I am definitely serious to have a new pinball for March 2022.
With a timeline like that, you should be building a Back to the Future pin.
Quoted from Dr_Gonzo:Jfc this will end badly. Anyone wanna give me 100K? I'll build them a one of a kind machine. No guarantee on wtf it will be but have faith! Could it be a retheme of the sharpshooter in my garage that I got for free? Who knows! Send PayPal now to find out!
It's not gonna end at all because it's not gonna get started. No way someone going to give him a $100000.
Quoted from LTG:Moby Dick
I need to clarify.
I hope the whale makes a Moby Dick pinball machine after the book.
Not the porn movie.
LTG : )
Well I was running out the door to help a operator: March 2023
I do not go to events or peoples homes to pound on their tempered glass. Still offer free glass locally if a accident happens during a tournament. Also try see if throw out ones are tempered or plate glass that end in the dumpster. Out of 25 years of owning, operating, & service pins I have had only one playfield tempered glass explode at Allentown (in my hands & did not touch anything),
As for the licensed title if a rich whale is found there will be gold in the game. It will be one of a kind, not what goes into production BOM if it gets picked up.
There are numerous whales in North America, & around the world. I know a few here, & in my area.

Lloyd, this comment warms the cockles of my heart.
Quoted from woody76:This hobby is still clown world. I will see you all next month when I check back in....
You won’t be missed
God I love pinball.
I wish you all the luck in the world but the verbiage and wording you're choosing really sounds like this is less of a "I need 100k to make one pin" and more like a "I need 90k to get me out of a financial rut and just to be a nice guy I'll set aside 10k to build you a pin."

Does anyone know what the highest single pin confirmed pinball sale was?
Quoted from greatwichjohn:I have no problem showing all my cards to a true whale.
Quoted from greatwichjohn:A licensed theme has a better chance at getting picked up for production, or to be a one of a kind trophy to a whale investor.
Quoted from greatwichjohn:The bar is set high for a single whale investor at $100k US. If not people will likely be interested at the $10k US mini whale pinball game. if the big whale is not found. There is already 1 mini whale who reached out last night
Quoted from greatwichjohn:Still have this month to see if one big whale takes the plunge.

apparently you can pick them up right off the streets of london.

Keep it in the basement, buddy...

$64K for a Capcom Kingpin.
LTG : )
Quoted from TigerLaw:Agreed, but to me it looks like he is just enjoying this thread. I mean, he certainly isn’t listening to any of the very good advice he’s been given…like stop calling his target audience whales…since they don’t like being associated as being dumb money.
He can’t answer why he won’t just simply do this as a home brew, why go get a license. He has little chance of securing a viable license anyway with nothing more than $100,000, most of which he clearly plans to spend building his game (and paying himself a salary of some kind). My view is he started this thread just for some laughs and attention.
Upon further review I'm inclined to agree with you.
I'd expect the whale to be concerned about your ability to deliver 100k worth of design files in the same thread you mentioned somehow losing design files "at the printer" which is not a thing that happens to professionals who can execute (and backup their data.)
Quoted from LTG:$64K for a Capcom Kingpin.
LTG : )
I played that one weeks before it sold for that price. She was perfect. Awww yeah…

I always thought that a Supreme sold for more but if I was a betting man (and I am), I'm betting on Lloyd's memory and pinball knowledge over mine.
Kingpin is such a fun game. Hope it eventually gets remade. Circus Maximus was supposed to have them in production four years ago.
Quoted from greatwichjohn:Well I was running out the door to help a operator: March 2023
March is the tail end of whale season on Maui. Dig the marketing savvy and looking forward to playing this game!
What if I don’t want a licensed theme and want to go with @ltg’s Moby Dick theme? What does that knock the price down to since it is in the public domain?
Quoted from DBLM:What if I don’t want a licensed theme and want to go with
Let's go for a DBLM hump day pin !
Basement boy would probably pay 100K for that ...
The theme better not be Jonah and the Whale.
That would make it the second time that someone jacked Ben Heck's Bible Adventure theme.
Quoted from gandamack:Um....John are sure you are not from Newfoundland?
Damn, that is savage!

Where there’s a Whale there’s a way
Quoted from PismoArcade:Kingpin is such a fun game. Hope it eventually gets remade. Circus Maximus was supposed to have them in production four years ago.
They're waiting for a whale also....
Quoted from greatwichjohn:I am definitely serious to have a new pinball for March 2022.
Must be Back to the Future
Quoted from Mrsiyufy:I too am looking for a wealthy investor. For $100,009.00 you may get your dream licensed theme and a fillet of fish combo from McDonald’s* or you may lose your money. Let’s be honest you will most defiantly loose your money, but at least you get the sandwich!
*medium, there will be an additional charge for large.
The location on E. Charleston & Sloan has a deal this weekend, large meals for the price of a small. Must buy at the restaurant, not on the app. But if you buy sandwiches on the app, they're BOGO. so even if you add fries and drinks, it's a better deal.
Quoted from gjm:They're waiting for a whale also.
Not to take from away this thread ...
That boat sunk ... never happening !
RIP... Kingpin !
My boss is a 3rd generation owner of a car dealership group. We watch him run around daily worrying about the sales staff drinking the bottled water and not the filtered stuff. He actually went as far as installing a $8000 nugget ice maker to entice us to stop drinking the bottle water. Thats just one part of the madness that i've witnessed in the 10 years working for him.
From what I noticed, people with cash act differently depending on how they got it. Most people that earned all of their money are pretty frugal with it, its easier to sell pinball fan with only $100k in his account a 1 off pinball machine than it is a guy that doesnt care about pinball but has $100m the same thing. But then again you did ask on a pinball forum.
All that said, tagging for updates
Quoted from RCA1:The licensed theme is Hank Williams/Hank Jr.!
That right there is one of the best C&W Music Videos produced. For 1980's technology, integrating Hank and Bocephus/Hank Jr. Was spectacularly. When I saw it the first time on CMT, and the frosted glass door lit up with the silhouette, I got goosebumps.
Thank goodness someone had the thought and foresight to film Hank and the Drifting Cowboys and was able to loop the film to look like he was singing There's a Tear in my Beer.
I actually bought that single music video on VHS soon after it was released....
Quoted from Rezdog:The LE is the one you want….
[quoted image]
Gotta license it through Scooter.....
Quoted from Elvishasleft:or mini whales!! micro whales? sea monkeys?
heres the thing... whale investors expect to make money. lots of it, to justify their risk.
They don't do vanity projects.
This is the kind of thing you have to be willing to go broke on yourself and if you aren't why would anyone invest in you?
Like what's the different criteria for the different levels of whales or seagoing creatures? I'll let you know, I'm not a multimillionaire, although I identify as one. I'm debt free but I don't have millions in the bank, I also own my house free and clear so I could definitely tap into that.
John, please break down the the funding levels and how they relate to sea going creatures please.
I have to wonder if there is a Plan C if (when?) the Whale and Mini-Whale plans fall through... perhaps 100 microWhales at $1k/each?
Quoted from parsonsaj:I have to wonder if there is a Plan C if (when?) the Whale and Mini-Whale plans fall through... perhaps 100 microWhales at $1k/each?
100,000 nano whales
Quoted from jake35:This thread is pure gold. I'm more fortunate than most (hard work with some good investments along the way), 7 figure net worth many times over, no way I'd ever look at 100k as nothing.hell even 1k is still a lot.
We have 2 kids that will inherit it someday, but I'm making them earn every penny until then, except for their college tuition and their cars, which we helped them get. They are definitely going to learn the value of a dollar. I have an uncle who bought all of his nieces and nephews their first cars when they turned 16, and I decided I wanted to do that also.
I'm not bragging here, just pointing out that your idea of a whale (whatever that is) just blindingly giving over 100k without a care is ridiculous because while most of these wealthy guys are generous, they aren't stupid or frivolous. That's an insult as many actually earned it being smart, not stupid.
Is it 1x over or 10x over, cause 11x over makes you an 8 Figure person, at least 1x over!.
Quoted from GreenMachine19:Multimillionaires are usually multimillionaires because they are frugal and make smart money decisions. You are looking for the guy who just won the powerball and is dropping 100k at the strip club just to feel like a king.
Thats my plan.
