    Quoted from greatwichjohn:

Sept. 1, 2021 I will be filing my personal & corporate bankruptcy here in Canada. I have about $5 cash until my meager monthly pension check rolls in. Retired from my 6 day a week City job of almost 25 years (NOV. 1 2020). So I receive just over $22k US a year now to support my wife & me. Both of us love to drink a good amount of beer.

It's ok. The 100k he is asking for is only roughly 5x his yearly pension. I'm sure someone will be generous enough to come along and pay him to possibly not make anything.

**Quoted from the deep root thread.

    Quoted from Pinbub:

Your memory is not in good enough shape to make this fly. I was refered to you about a part I was looking for that you either had made by someone else or could have made by someone else. You responded with " I don't know what you're talking about". I then sent you a link to the thread where it stated you had had the part made or could. You still responded with, "I don't know what you're talking about". Maybe too many" sody pops", but I think your brain is fried.
Oh, and good luck catching the whale.

I am not a mind reader. Please explain what part. It was likely a backglass where the art files on the server were lost at the printer..

    Quoted from CrazyLevi:

    You too huh?
    It's just the best!

    I'm assuming you catch.

In that case, I'm sending you a tube of KY, gratis.

Also sending a tube to whoever gives the OP $100k.

Keep the info, advice, & failure talk coming. Still have this month to see if one big whale takes the plunge. $100K US for a chance at the one & only pin unless it moves into production. Not going to explain everything here about building a single prototype. Even old Stern had some interesting production choices. People that want to believe I cannot build a single new pinball machine by March 2023 should start up a betting pool now among themselves. I have shown over the years that stuff can be made using contractors & myself. Only had 3 Irish Beers with my wife today at our local Irish Bar to celebrate Canada Day & my birthday (58).

As for CPR, they will not be used. Maybe they have some big plans in the near future.

This thread is pure gold. I'm more fortunate than most (hard work with some good investments along the way), 7 figure net worth many times over[...]I'm not bragging here, just pointing out that your idea of a whale (whatever that is) just blindingly giving over 100k without a care is ridiculous because while most of these wealthy guys are generous, they aren't stupid or frivolous. That's an insult as many actually earned it being smart, not stupid.

You're definitely bragging, guy. Congrats on your 7 figure net worth (many times over).

Why don’t you go ask Marty and Rick Lagina on Oak Island? They are only an hour down the road from you.

From what I heard, they are about to stumble on some treasure. Well, that is what they have been saying for the last 16 years at least.

Main things I get from this thread is some of you hate "rich people" which is odd in a hobby that is grossly expensive. May as well get on a boat owners site and yell at them while you are at it.

If you own any pins at all or can afford this hobby you are rich in real world terms sorry...

Second, people are mad about beer? or because he drinks beer? He's Canadian for fucks sake.

I agree that this is a odd thread posted by OP, but I'm surprised that our neighbour's to the south have such a low opinion about us north of the border...

Other than the odd request of 100k for a pinball build I've learned that according to our US friends that we all have pinball issues and because we are Canadian we drink beer ...

    #234 1 year ago

I dislike the phrase “cringeworthy”…….but man if this whole thing doesn’t fit perfectly.

    Quoted from jjga:

Agreed, but to me it looks like he is just enjoying this thread. I mean, he certainly isn’t listening to any of the very good advice he’s been given…like stop calling his target audience whales…since they don’t like being associated as being dumb money.

He can’t answer why he won’t just simply do this as a home brew, why go get a license. He has little chance of securing a viable license anyway with nothing more than $100,000, most of which he clearly plans to spend building his game (and paying himself a salary of some kind). My view is he started this thread just for some laughs and attention.

Nobody is hating rich people, but there was definitely some humble brag in that post.

If a whale wants to buy a part of my collection for a 100k please reach out. I have many top tier games ready to go and play. All in perfect shape. Lots of fun and no investment loss.
Heck make me an offer for the whole collection

If you could get Kaneda to sell his Demon he’d have enough for this and a new Chevy Spark!

    #239 1 year ago

if you build it they will come .....problem is ,it has to be good or lets say borderline excellent to be accepted into this niche market, life is about doing ...not talking or fantasizing about doing something....so in the begining you have to put your money where your mouth is and take your shot with your own funds on the line.

What does pinball mean to you?
    What it means to me.
It’s the great memories of summer as a kid in my small town, playing Gottlieb surf champ with my Dad at the 7-11.
That’s why I have a surf champ now.
Being a teen in the early 80’s ,
At the local arcade and playing on great games like Phoenix, flash, Flash Gordon, gorgar, xenon, paragon, space invaders, Kiss, Mara hari, black hole, haunted house, black knight, fire power, etc.

Later in my Navy days at our barracks game room,
    High speed, secret service, pinbot,

When I first got married, whirlwind, fun house.

    De Simpson’s.

Later on, looking forward to our local pinball shows.
Looking forward to seeing old friends and making new ones.
Looking forward to seeing and playing the newest games and getting another on some great classics.
Looking forward to league night, seeing friends, playing pinball and eating tacos!

All I have ever seen from you is let’s land a rich whale, let’s make a game for the exclusive and elite.

This is the antithesis of what pinball is all about.
    Affordable entertainment, made for everyone.

You are nothing but a black mark on pinball.
A drunken, lazy, opportunistic, 2 bit snake oil salesman.
You are everything wrong in pinball today.
I’ve seen your playfields. They are shit. The grainy, bad registration, is simply substandard.

Do pinball a solid and just go crawl back into a beer bottle.
No one here, NO ONE HERE cares.

Multimillionaires are usually multimillionaires because they are frugal and make smart money decisions. You are looking for the guy who just won the powerball and is dropping 100k at the strip club just to feel like a king.

    Quoted from TigerLaw:

…like stop calling his target audience whales…since they don’t like being associated as being dumb money.

Point of order: Marks are dumb money. Whales are people that tend to spend large money. They can overlap.

Yes it was lost with a bunch of other stuff. Sorry about that.

Only day 3 looking for the big whale investor. There are many out there, so time will tell this month. The person will get a detailed plan of the game. It is not drop $100k US into my lap. It will be performance goals. I am definitely serious to have a new pinball for March 2022. There is no problem bringing in the needed help for 1 game. Plan B is $10k US which is the next stage if the big whale is not found starting August 1.
