New Star Gazer & Seawitch Playfield Production
By greatwichjohn
Quoted from greatwichjohn:"I have all the things lined up to do this project this year, except for a reserve of cash."
2021.....
8 pre-paids from 7-8 years ago were still waiting on Sea Witch pf, I believe they finally got them from Chris Hibler after John sold all remaining parts to him.

Speaking of people getting into a hobby they like while making a difference... ladies and gentlemen, may I present to you Mr. Ben Heck!
I first heard about Ben Heck on some random podcast, and learned that he has a hobby he loves and shares it by making single handed video game controllers for disabled people.
https://www.benheck.com/single-handed-controllers/
Ben Heck also makes and sells boards that have been used by pinball manufacturers (Spooky). I don't have all the details but I know he was instrumental in getting Spooky off the ground with America's most haunted, which was largely self funded. They built a handful of games and took them to pinball shows to get the ball rolling on Spooky Pinball. I don't think there would be a Spooky pinball today without Ben Heck.
There are many ways to contribute to your hobby without having others fund it up front.
Quoted from greatwichjohn:So I will be talking with those interested in Plan B, starting August 1 if the big whale is not found. There is already 1 mini whale who reached out last night.
Good Luck With Whale

Well, Ben, that is quite the statement
Like I said, this thread is going to be pure gold.

I really should have picked a different username in middle school.
Real world advise
Go get a bank loan and put your future at risk like every other small business owner. Own a house? leverage it.
If you cant secure a bank loan for 100K (which is next to nothing for banks) then you are in no position to run a company or a project to begin with.

But, but... that's what whales are for!!
Quoted from jake35:But, but... that's what whales are for!!
or mini whales!! micro whales? sea monkeys?
heres the thing... whale investors expect to make money. lots of it, to justify their risk.
They don't do vanity projects.
This is the kind of thing you have to be willing to go broke on yourself and if you aren't why would anyone invest in you?

Quoted from Charliew65:Watched at the 26 min mark, Didn’t see anything pertaining to this thread. What are we supposed to see?
That’s the part where you’ll get to watch Todd Tucky and the ninja turtles get you to cringe. Otaku takes the cake.
OP, I say this dispassionately, but in reading your posts you are not a very clear communicator. If you are serious about this, you need to greatly tighten up your messaging in order to have a hope of attracting money. Your bankruptcies, pension, your usage of terminology like whales or mini whales, etc does not benefit you. Because you come off jumbled, people are going to be disinclined to invest in you.

We prefer the term Less financially well off Whale. Mini whale is offensive it’s 2022 dude.

He got what he came for... a few pages to keep himself entertained.
Well your name is John so you're halfway there.
Slap a bunch of crap on a purple playfield, print up a bunch of banners that say ZAP WOW and you'll have whale money in no time!
I watched the video and just see a bunch of very old, very unhealthy chubby guys dressed in black.
So I'm going with Men in Black the Gray army edition or maybe the movie Cocoon with a big hairy egg on a lower playfield and if you get down there your balls come back up all shiny and new.
This thread has been great for giving several Pinsiders just the right moment to let everyone know that they're a multi-millionaire. Please come clean and say that that's all this thread really was... a vehicle for people to declare how wealthy they are without sounding like too much of an asshole.

The LE is the one you want….
A967BD66-C786-4F4A-BBC3-B84C768A8790 (resized).jpegIANAL but if you're just making a singleton machine and not for financial gain, I'm pretty sure you can basically use any license you want, look at all the themed homebrews. so maybe your initial asking price should be much lower, considering how you don't actually need the license at this point.

Your memory is not in good enough shape to make this fly. I was refered to you about a part I was looking for that you either had made by someone else or could have made by someone else. You responded with " I don't know what you're talking about". I then sent you a link to the thread where it stated you had had the part made or could. You still responded with, "I don't know what you're talking about". Maybe too many" sody pops", but I think your brain is fried.
Oh, and good luck catching the whale.
Do I recall this guy filing bankruptcy or it’s equivalent in Canada? Just the kind of situation I want to invest in. Nothing personal but just sayin.
Quoted from AJC3030:Apparently it will move Into production or die
Yes. Very encouraging!
Quoted from AJC3030:Apparently it will move Into production or die
Generally it's good to put the conditional that is more likely/less complex first. This improves the general case as the second conditional often need not be evaluated before moving on.
"It will die or move to production."
Unless > six sigma accuracy is required I'd just go with this:
"It will die."
Sad thing is, if he announced he's taking pre-orders today, there would be people sending him money.

“Mini whales”. It’s on
Quoted from iceman44:“Mini whales”. It’s on
I think he is looking for Beluga whales those are "mini". A Narwhal would work.
11F80E7B-AABE-46EA-B055-FCFAFB853DB2 (resized).pngThis thread is pure gold. I'm more fortunate than most (hard work with some good investments along the way), 7 figure net worth many times over, no way I'd ever look at 100k as nothing.hell even 1k is still a lot.
We have 2 kids that will inherit it someday, but I'm making them earn every penny until then, except for their college tuition and their cars, which we helped them get. They are definitely going to learn the value of a dollar. I have an uncle who bought all of his nieces and nephews their first cars when they turned 16, and I decided I wanted to do that also.
I'm not bragging here, just pointing out that your idea of a whale (whatever that is) just blindingly giving over 100k without a care is ridiculous because while most of these wealthy guys are generous, they aren't stupid or frivolous. That's an insult as many actually earned it being smart, not stupid.
Quoted from greatwichjohn:You guys are a laugh. I have no problem showing all my cards to a true whale. There are lots of them out there, & very few are posting their stuff here in the public. I personally know a group here, & not asking them to get involved. You need to be a risk taker, & have no concerns about $100k.
John, maybe stop referring to any individual with monetary means as a ‘Whale.’
Provide a prospectus of details. Not a lot here, in this thread. Just enough to wet one’s appetite in his/her hobby. Less focus on the obvious. Risk is relative to reward.
And please stop mentioning that 100k is chump change. It NEVER is. That’s why they (we?) are the way we are.

It’s NOT Vegas. Or is it?
Maybe Big John is a casino host?
