You people are idiots. It is obviously "shoe". Even if you didnt know, always pick the third choice unless you like one of the other two more. BTW, Pedro offers you his protection.

Quoted from Whysnow:Well this particular one was not really available even at 5500. That is the kicker about buy backs. If you were there and had bid 5500, he would have just bid 5600.
How is that even allowed? Set a reserve and stay out of that item. How is that any different from shill bidding on ebay, which can get you in enough trouble to be banned?
It's allowed when it is in the terms of the auction.
Also, why is this thread even alive? "Once people start getting the machine" was a long time ago.

The times I have seen it the rules of the auction are posted and the seller will usually pay a fee to perform the buyback.
I paid $50 for my CP and NGG when they were only a couple years old, that is obviously not the real value. To get the real value you need to run an average or remove the fringe data. Same thing most keep telling Robin about the rating list.
My guess is that this whole thread is to crap on someone's parade? Don't know too many things that go up in price after you buy them. Sometimes pins do, sometimes not. If you're not a buyer, what difference would it make, other than to cause turmoil on the forum?
Auctions can be funny. Do you know for sure it was sold. It could have been hammered on a reserve. Auction houses can and do bid against bidders when a reserve is set. Real auctions are not like eBay. The house will bid you up until you stop bidding...
And if you tend to really, really be concerned about whether the price will drop or rise, $8K seems to be the entry price for a standard:

That's without a shaker and invisiglass. So I would figure everyone that bought in under that figure is safe for a while.
But who really cares? If someone keeps it for a couple years, plays 1,000 or 2,000 games on it, or whatever, and sells it for $5K, then they've paid for entertainment.
My philosophy on threads like these is:
If you're going to fish in the sewer, don't be outraged when you catch a turd
Quoted from iamabearsfan:Hhmmmm, what makes more sense.....this thread?

She doesn't need to. Her life will work out just fine without one.

I think she's one of the fifth mentioned in the question. Damn U.S. Americans.

Fun for a while then the maintenance costs add up.
