Let's assume real estate is so expensive that any extra square inch would cost you an arm, or that you swore to your significant other you would never cross that line… 10 pins, no more.

Choose wisely. Unlimited budget and patience.
- What would be your choice?
- How far are you from your ideal? (3/10 in my current lineup, but Nemo and Predator are already paid for)

Here is mine:
- 3 "boutique" pins, rotating between Nemo, Predator, Wooly, AMH, P3, Full throttle, TBL, Circus Maximus, Timeshock… I love these projects. P3 and Full Throttle with games you can swap could be elegant ways to break the 10 game limit…
- ACDC BIB – might consider temporary trades with STLE or MetLE… perhaps TWD
- WPT (yes, it is a keeper) – would only consider temporary trades with RBION or WoF
- LOTR – a pin I owned and I had to sell for cash. Obviously I miss it.
- One pin from the Bally golden age…Centaur or Fathom or 8 ball Deluxe or Medusa, rotating.
- One Generation 2 Zaccaria, rotating (Farfalla, etc)…
- Bally Spectrum. My first pin. Unique layout, cool artwork: that's a keeper I would only allow to leave… for HEP restoration.
- Bally Fireball. Needs one EM and this is my all time favorite.

Overall: Stern x3, Bally x3, boutique pins x3, Zaccaria x1
(Not a single Williams, I know I should be ashamed; I like MM or AFM but I can live without them…).

And if I could cheat and add an 11th pin it would be another EM for variety (one with 3" flippers and inlanes) but I have not found my holy grail yet.

Spectrum

Wow! Spectrum too! I feel less lonely in that universe

#7 9 years ago

I love Spectrum.

If I ever upgrade to a house (currently in a condo) with a a basement and have the room, Spectrum is definitely on my list of pins to own.

It is so different from every other pin out there.

Plus, I love the vocals on it. Being born in 1978, it reminds me of early 80's technology. Anyone who has played Colecovision will know exactly what I'm talking about.

Unlimited budget?
I would go to all the designers and get each of them to create a custom game

AC/DC Premium
Guns 'n Roses
Attack From Mars

Lotr (imo, best rule sheet outhere)
ac/dc (a must in a collection, one of the best)
Star trek stern (love the shows and movies)
the hobbit (gotta have it, big fan)
CV (love the game, nice artwork)
TOTAN (like the theme, artwork)
8 ball deluxe (gotta have one of the best early ss)
firepower (always like the game, like the sounds)
centigrade 37 (a nice one, fully restored or i will do it)

that's 9, one spot open, never know...

Didn't put too much thought into it, however these are 10 games I love and don't think I'd get tired of.

AC/DC
Metallica
Monster Bash
TAF
Stern Star Trek
Scared Stiff

The unlimited budget really helps me out on the last pin. Here we go:

Woz
MM
CC
DMoS
BSD
The Shadow
Champion Pub
WH2O
TWD (If it turns out to be really good. If not then I'll take Safe Cracker)
24 with a complete rules re-write including an LCD screen, professionally hand-drawn artwork for re-screen cab/playfield/plastics, and pay Kiefer Sutherland to do voice over work.

Woz - played it for over an hour, couldn't get enough
Tspp - top pick from my virtualpin
Lotr - top pick from my virtualpin
The hobbit - look promising, love the theme
AFM - just a great fun game
Champion pub - top pick from my virtualpin
TBL - love the movie, the bowling lower PF looks fun
Wooly - one of the best virtual tables, and I hear the real one is better.
D&D - had it needed cash and sold it to soon, I'm not done with this game yet.
My virtual pin - to many great games to limit a list to 10.

I tried leaving spots for some newer games, but the siren lure of nostalgia, deceptively-simple goals, and amazing art packages on the older titles will win out every time with me.

Scenario #1 (desert island)
If money were no object, AND I didn't have friends/arcades with common popular DMDs, I'd pick the following set:

Sys11:
Diner

Early SS:
Centaur
Black Hole
Fathom
Black Knight

DMD:
IJTPA
TOTAN
TOM
TZ

Moderns:
STLE

---

Scenario #2 (SF bay area)

But since I do have friends and local arcades, I'll stick with the best-9 from my collection, plus TOTAN, since I've never seen a REALLY nice one locally:

DMDs:
TOTAN

Sys11:
Diner
Whirlwind

Early SS
Centaur
Black Hole
Fathom
Black Knight
Space Shuttle
Sorcerer
Barracora

Funny! However consider that a couple personal bowling lanes is cheaper than the average list of 10 dream pinball machines, you're cutting yourself short!

On second thought.... I would get a new wife and spend the unlimited budget on all the pins I have always wanted. Which would be every bally/williams and stern, DE, sega, and gottlieb ever made.

#39 9 years ago

At this exact moment...

IM
JP
VND
4 Square
Cybernaut
MET (Pro)
TRON (probably LE)
WCS94
JD
AMH

The top four are easy, the next four are pretty solid, the last two I might shuffle around depending on when I answer. I was thinking about DM, SF2 (seriously), BF, Pinbot, RFM, Airborne or SST filling those spaces, and just sort of settled on that for the purposes of this post. Oh, and I would kick one of those to the curb for AMH.

Luckily, AMH is the only one I need right now.

#40 9 years ago
Quoted from Baiter:

Funny! However consider that a couple personal bowling lanes is cheaper than the average list of 10 dream pinball machines, you're cutting yourself short!

True, but I already own 25 of my dream pinball machines that fit comfortably in my 1450 sq. ft. house and garage. Bowling lanes would mean I would have to build on, and that is way out of my budget right now.

#41 9 years ago

If there was no limit on cash, all games would be restored examples or new, pimped out to the max with CC'd playfields.
