Flash Gordon for early SS
Avatar for modern

#52 8 years ago

Some of those flipperless games can be pretty brutal.

#53 8 years ago
Quoted from Chrizg:

From a location side, the Sys3 games I have routed are the fastest games played.
Data over a 7+ month period.
SF2 - 1:10
Que Ball - 1:12
Super Mario - 1:50
TWD Pro - 2:18
MET Pro - 2:09
KISS Pro - 2:13
IM - 1:47
ST Pro - 2:57
TSPP - 1:56
AFM - 2:73

Interesting list...but I think it's hard to tell about a game's true brutal nature on location. If 99/100 pinball newbs play any game, it's probably going to be short.

Not to mention 99/100 that play SF2 just let the ball drain so they can stop playing

#55 8 years ago

Stern Dragonfist is a brutal, unforgiving game.

If you have the means, I highly recommend playing one.

#56 8 years ago

Dammit. Thought this was a thread about me.

#58 8 years ago

Diner!

Around here we call it "Disser".

Shorter games on Diner than Fish Tales for me.

#59 8 years ago

Another vote for Flash Gordon.

#60 8 years ago

BBH!

I'd like to second acdc pro. Hot hell that game is fast & brutal without drops, mini pf, or cross over ramp

#61 8 years ago

I agree. I love fast games.

Jokerz! is quick, fun and challenging (oh and super cheap).

#62 8 years ago

WNBJM and BBH
Dr Dude deserves an honourable mention too!

#63 8 years ago

Two words.
Nip.
It.

I was going to say this about TRS.

Attack from Mars??

#69 8 years ago
Quoted from 27dnast:

Doubt we'll see any Gottlieb Sys 3 on here...

Freddy is not even close to making this list LOL...

#70 8 years ago

Attack from Mars??

Haha misread, fast and short ball times.

Ehh, Starship Troopers then

#71 8 years ago

Old Chicago

#72 8 years ago

Brutal game in every way, especially to look at.

#73 8 years ago

Another vote for F14 Tomcat.
No Fear always smashes me aswell.

#74 8 years ago

IM
TWD
Mustang --- with or w/o the outlanes open, this can be a drain bitch for me...

#75 8 years ago

Huh... I've always found mustang to be fairly approachable. Could be machine dependent?

#76 8 years ago

I dunno, must be me!
I played some route machines today and tried to keep track of my game times...
From longest to shortest times were:
POTC
IM
Must pro (tight tilt)
TWD pro (new machine, very tight tilt, seemed like 1 out 4 balls out of the pops did a sdtm drain)

Glad I have a mustang at home to practice on, but it doesn't seem to help?! But it's speed is fun and once you're used to that, you're prepared for any other game out there...

BBH is another pin that I can't play for long, nor have I seen any other players manage a reasonable game.

#77 8 years ago

Flash Gordon, Frontier, Mystic, Stars

#78 8 years ago

Sinbad is the most brutal game I have owned. Often I have games less than a minute.

1 week later
#79 8 years ago

In my collect my quick game times are.
IM
BSD
JM
Some nights I leave my game room pissed as all he!!... lol
Then the next day im back for more.

Johnny F'n Mnemonic

AMH, PINBOT & BSD

I have a cftbl that is drain city. A really great game is when you get to start multi ball. A once a month game is when you actually find the creature during it.

Quoted from 27dnast:

I'm a big fan of games that, by design, are brutal and fast...and can be set-up to be be even nastier, resulting in average game times that are insanely short. Games like Iron Man, F-14, BSD (w/lightning flippers). There are times I step-up to Iron Man and can rip-off 5-6 games in 10 minutes.
I know you've all been there.
Thought it would be fun to compile the ultimate list of the fastest players ever made. I'll keep a list going in the second post.

I'm genuinely curious why you prefer games that are very short or setting up pins to be very hard and short. I'm not saying that those games aren't fun but I don't get the appeal of having all or a majority of a collection like that.

I get that shorter games are better for competition and that 30-40 minute games are the extreme the other way.

Why are 5-6 games in 10 minutes better than 2?

#87 8 years ago

It really may be what you are accustomed to. As I grew up near the end of EM beginning of solid state era and you had no 20 minute ball times. pinbot, black knight, HS, paragon, centaur etc..

The ball is wild, right! It seems Not so true if most anyone can keep ball in play for long. 2-5 mins per ball I would say your doing Great!

#88 8 years ago

Oh and my vote is pinbot and BH.
Many of the early solid state games. Flash, firepower, and others are just right.

#89 8 years ago

TWD just killed me the last time I played it. It's the only game I can spend 5 bucks as fast as my 10 year old daughter can on those ticket chance games.

#90 8 years ago

Sorcerer can be really short and brutal. I've got a montage of it kicking my ass in my Sorcerer Walkthrough video (at time 13:54).

#91 8 years ago

Surprised at some of the system 11 games making this list...f14 pinbot taxi and diner I can usually play one out of three games for awhile. If I'm thinking of games with CONSISTENT short ball times none of those come to mind. BSD with lightning flippers routinely kicks my ass however. AMH also can be brutal if the sling coils are cranked up...I swear the outlanes have magnets. Also I find EATPM to have short ball times for a system 11 game.

#92 8 years ago

Strange Science both for mb & total game time

#93 8 years ago

It's funny. Reading the games listed it seems my collection is made up of some of the shortest ball times out there.
Brutal games I own in order of short ball times.
But that's why I like them.

1. Interflip Dragon - set to 3 balls.
2. Pinbot
3. F-14
4.Iron man

I can play what seems like marathon games on my ST pro.
But the others only once in a while do you get a long game.

Dragon I have only rolled the score over once.

#94 8 years ago

I checked the audits just to see where I was at.

BSD: Ball time: 45 sec, game time: 2.24 minutes. Thought it'd be the shortest, but I was wrong. Extra balls are enabled on this one.
Fathom: Ball time: 38 seconds, game time: 1.89 minutes. 3 ball, no extra balls.
TZ: Ball time: 53 seconds, game time: 2.88 minutes. Extra Balls are enabled.
Fireball II: Ball time: 90 seconds, game time: 4.5 minutes. Looks like my assessment of this game being relatively "easy" is correct. 3 ball, no extra balls.

#95 8 years ago

. . . . FLASH . . . Emperor Ming awaits!

FG for the win

#96 8 years ago

I'd like to see what the avg ball times for GB are going to be once it's on location for a few months. I'm willing to bet GB is going to make this list as well... it can be fing brutal at times.

EDIT --- looks like it was added with no ball save... don't think I'm ready for an ass beating that bad just yet
