When I saw the need for cutting I said no to that mod. I don't want to do anything that is not reversible on my games unless it is a universally expected/acceptable change. Maybe if replacement ball guides were available I would do it, but they are not.

Me & S.tastic installed a New Screw-n magnet plug during the Shop and it's Level w/ the p/f , the answer to yr Q, is " NO " . It's happened 1 or 2 times , and it's Cool to see . Mine used to not throw the pinball into the scoop every time and I did not Know why,So one day I decided to clean the top of the magnet with a rag and alcohol real good and to my surprise it has worked ever since.I am sure there are other factors such as alignment and mushrooming of the magnet.Try cleaning it with alcohol and do not wax the magnet.Also I think if you have the magnet protector that might hinder it too,in which case your magnet might not last as long but in HUO environment it should be OK.
