Saweeet!!!
Busy busy pf me like!
Upper right flipper seems out of place no?
Are there more pics in the zip file? Can anyone post em for us phone users

#87 11 years ago

I think the wolverine and magneto toys look bad ass. As for night crawler, hard to say from those pics. Remember this toys are getting hit from the upper right flipper as well, not just the bottom flippers like MM so they gotta be designed differently.

#100 11 years ago

Look closer at the wolverine back glass; that thing is bad ass. The pro is busier with all the heros/villains but the artwork on the LEs are pretty bad ass.

#117 11 years ago

The LE backglass art is gonna look sweeeet on mirrored backglass.

#139 11 years ago

What were you guys expecting? The game looks like it just came out of a comic book and looks freakin sweet cause of it!!

If you dont like it, Wait it out and get another movie based theme I guess.

#168 11 years ago

Here's a post I made on the other xmen thread breaking down shots:

Dude I'm looking at the pf closer and it looks sick. So much to shoot for..

Let's look further:
GAMBIT: represents pop bumpers sweet!
BEAST: represents left orbit.
WOLVERINE: bash toy w magnet
PROFESSOR X: represents left ramp I think
NIGHTCRAWLER: gem like shot plus interactive pop ups
ROGUE: shot left of magneto
MAGNETO: ball lock plus spinning disk and magnet
CYCLOPS: inner right loop
ICEMAN: right ramp. Love that Borg incorporated the moving ramp to iceman, fits perfect!
PHOENIX: right orbit
5 additional mutant inserts: Sabertooth, Shadow king, Juggernaut, sentinels, Omega red

That's 15-16 mutants that I see. Plus the scoop which I can't make out. This game is packed!

#169 11 years ago

I forgot night crawler: make that 16 mutants!

#223 11 years ago
Quoted from mechslave:

Layout: looks very fun and fast.

Playfield art: definitely a letdown. Lack of cohesion (look at the style of Sabertooth compared to Jugg, obviously just cut n paste from past works) and barren

Ya but cyclops, iceman, and gambit look sweet

#235 11 years ago
Quoted from mrbillishere:

Yes can someone explain why the Magneto character depicted on the Backglass has red skin and purple 'clothing' (?) -- cape, arm gauntlets, etc. while the figure on the playfield is dressed in blue instead?

I wanted to chalk it up to lighting but I can't buy that. Ideas??

Regarding the LE playfield...

1- notice how the high-res pics showing the LE cabinets are populated with Pro playfields? It makes you wonder just how far along the LE pf development really is. That moving ramp almost looks photo-shopped into the pic.

I have no idea how they'll incorporate that movable ramp into gameplay. Is the ice-guy a villain? Could you imagine the chaos caused by the game randomly diverting the ball (by moving the ramp) after you'd made the ramp, potentially to outwit your otherwise stellar strategy that depended on feeding the right flipper? Too funny.

2- the spinning disk - I'm wondering how much it really will affect the ball movement. In Tron the surface is tacky - rubber-ish. It puts a ton of english on the ball. This spinning disk appears to be clearcoated.

Iceman is a good guy. I think it's awesome borgy chose him for this toy. Suits iceman very well!

#241 11 years ago

I think the magneto toy lOoks sweet!
Wolverine still to be determined.
Moveable ramp is awesome simply because it's tied to iceman!

#242 11 years ago
Quoted from jackal2001:

I should swap out the trim between TRON LE and Wolverine LE. Chrome on Wolverine LE would look bad ass and the blue on Tron just fits. Ya baby!

Dude I think your on to something. Chrome wolverine will look sweet!

#264 11 years ago
Quoted from J85M:

That moving ramp needs modding - for wolvie LEs a custom ramp designed like wolverines claws would rock and should have been factory. For magneto LEs a metal gantry looking ramp would be sweet could be made to look rusted, both should have been factory but mods would be cool.

That's icemans ramp. Would look out of place with your idea. What it does need is some blue LEDs or something on ramp shots.

#270 11 years ago
Quoted from J85M:

Screw iceman lol, on a wolverine LE moving claw ramp would look killer, iceman who? <img src="/bbpress/my-plugins/bb-smilies/pinside/icon_biggrin.gif" title="">

Rofl I laughed good one

#272 11 years ago

I'm starting to believe people would rather have Hugh jackman! Rofl!!!

If you are or ever were a fan of anything xmen related (besides the movie) you'll see how kick ass this game looks.

#285 11 years ago
Quoted from copperpot:

Alright, here's where I'm at on this..

1) The figures look bad because they are SUPER DUPER shiny. if they were matte they would look a billion times better.
2) The lighting on the PF doesn't do it justice. It doesn't show typical play lighting with the LEDs and the GI lighting the field, studio lighting is brutal.
3) It looks to have some great flow and mode options, if the code supports it.
4) If anything, the PF layout LOOKS like TRON LE on steroids, which IMO is a good thing.
5) The Wolverine Backglass is awesome JIM LEE.
6) I'm excited to see the awesome mods for the Wolverine Bash Toy, Magneto, and iceman ramp.

I'm *probably* still in on my preorder.

Good post!
As for the figurs; I personally think magneto looks bad ass. The verdict is still out on wolverine, hoping it looks better in person.

#312 11 years ago
Quoted from gambit3113:

The Stargate thing comes from one person on RGP making a comparison. This game is obviously not like SG. There are only so many shots on a pinball PF. The comparison is pretty dumb, actually.

And why are people so worried about wear on these pop ups, but I have never heard anyone concerned about the same thing on MM playfields? How is it any different? They put Mylar around MM troll holes, and they will surely do the same here.

And how is the moving ramp a concern for wear, exactly?

I have never seen so much unwarranted concern for non issues in my life.

Quoted from Rarehero:

..and his cards are the bumper caps!

Yes!
Brilliant!

#342 11 years ago
Quoted from Rarehero:

Ramp - Normally the ball goes from the right ramp to the right flipper, setting up a shot to the scoop, pops, Wolverine, etc. I'm assuming there will be a mode or something that activates the Iceman ramp, which will then take the ball to the left flipper setting up different combo shots from that ramp...you can go back to the ramp, or to Magneto lock, or the Cyclops loop (then to the upper flipper and to the left ramp) ...this game will be combo MADNESS!
.

Yes!
And it's an iceman ramp.
Brilliant!

#345 11 years ago

The layout, the artwork, the toys; all have the making of a great pin, the pressure really is on Borgeys programmers and sound team to bring this puppy to life. I wonder how involved Borg gets in the code, cause I see a lot of innovation in his design.
Brilliant!

#349 11 years ago
Quoted from RobT:

Personally don't understand why so many of you prefer the art on the pro (I prefer both of the LE's over the pro) but that is a personal opinion (and looks like I'm in the minority). But, regardless, I would point out that 1) you don't play the cabinet art 2) if you have your pins lined up next to each other like most of us do, you don't see much of it anyway.

Not saying that cab art doesn't matter, clearly it does.....just not to the detriment of giving up a lot of other features to get it.

I agree rob. Plus something else no one has mentioned, the LE cabinet art is high definition decals. The pro may have a better character make up, but it's gonna look like shyt next to the LEs.

#377 11 years ago
Quoted from Hyperion:

Alright I've been a consistant Stern pinball HATER for many years now, but I HAVE TO GIVE STERN CREDIT FOR THE STEPS THEY'VE TAKEN ON THE X-MEN GAME FROM WHAT I'VE SEEN FROM THE PRESS RELEASE.
1ST THEY DID NOT USE PHOTOSHOPPED ART FROM THE MOVIES ... AWESOME!
2ND THEY USED GOOD COMIC ART TRUELY REPRESENTING THE WORLD OF THE X-MEN ... GREAT!
3RD THEY USED A DECENTLY GOOD OVERALL THEME ... COOL!
NOW WAITING TO SEE IF THE GAME PLAYS WELL AND IS MADE TO A GOOD QUALITY STANDARD... IF THEY CAN PULL THIS OFF?
I MITE HAVE TO SAY THIS IS A STERN PINBALL GAME I CAN LIKE AND GET BEHIND!
Who would've believed I would ever be saying this! <img src="/bbpress/my-plugins/bb-smilies/pinside/icon_rolleyes.gif" title="">

Finally, someone who gets it

#396 11 years ago
Quoted from TigerLaw:

Looks nice in chrome; I think I'd keep it in the original state. Jeez, the Wolverine LE would look freaking sweet next to a Decepticon TF . . .

Funny you should say that cause I own decepticons and....well, I got an XMLE on order and it rhymes with valvoline.

#397 11 years ago
Quoted from RobT:

Ah, so you don't like that blue trim either then?

Honestly I don't like the red or blue trim. Gotta see it in person. Want my blue trim for your tron LE and I'll take the chrome? ...your good chrome

#400 11 years ago
Quoted from RobT:

LOL at my "good" chrome!

I've seen TRON LE's with custom blue trim, and therefore my answer to your offer would be a resounding NO. Too much blue!

My Magneto is going to kick your Wolvie butt! <img src="/bbpress/my-plugins/bb-smilies/pinside/icon_lol.gif" title="">

Only if it's on 5ball :p

#403 11 years ago
Quoted from cleland:

Hmmm. looks more like gun metal gray IMO <img src="/bbpress/my-plugins/bb-smilies/pinside/icon_biggrin.gif" title="">
I'll stick with the blue.

I'm not very good with photoshop lol.

#426 11 years ago
Quoted from mrbillishere:

I thought the swap out for TRON LE's side armor was a good suggestion. Here's another 'don't quit your day job' type attempt. Didn't quite get it perfect, but it's late, gotta say good enough.

Not too shabby.

Way better than my crappy Pos graphic lol. Looks awesome, now I'm really considering a chrome package.

#458 11 years ago
Quoted from SealClubber:

Pretty sure the nightcrawler targets won't be a troll head thingy on the LE. Will be raising scoops which most likely send the ball thru a subway. My guess is to the lower left scoop but I guess it is possible to send it to the top VUK.

Um what? I thought they were bash targets. But if what you say is true then that makes a 100% more sense why they're night crawler targets and would be an awesome feature! Fits nightcrawler perfectly.

#461 11 years ago

Hey Borgy/Lonnie; if your reading this I have an idea that I got from Megatron MB. If magneto MB is going to be similar where it flings the balls at the flippers or all around then please be open to this idea. Megatron rapid fire is awesome, however, after playing it for months the best strategy is to let all the balls drain and keep one to make shots and buy time. Instead, I think it would be better if the MB mode started with no ball saver, and the player must make a specific shot to activate the ball saver. This forces the player to keep the balls in play until they can achieve a goal to get the ball saver and a little breathing room. Thanks for listening, keep up the hardwork!!

Quoted from RobT:

I know a lot of people are saying they like the pro translite better than the Backglass on either LE, but I'm not one of those people. I love both Wolverine and Magneto backglasses. And I think they will look even better in person than those pics, which really do nothing to give you the true sense of what a *real backglass* will look like in person.

And for me backglass > translite

I'm with you rob. The more I look at the LE art the more I like it. And with it being mirrored backglass, it'll only make it that much better.

#512 11 years ago
Quoted from mnpinball:

I'm hearing that the all the custom dot work by Galvez is another over the top job and cool as hell like AC/DC. As well as David Thiel utilizing the double memory capacity for the sounds package. Ever character has it's own tune and mode. Deep rule set.

Is it full screen or 2/3?

#528 11 years ago

Yo Tambien!

#529 11 years ago
Quoted from mummite:

Also I have heard that all the plastic ramps will come with metal ramp protectors like the amazing ones Cliffy did for TRON, I dont see any in the pictures though. has this been discussed yet?
I am just catching up on the X-men madness since I have been out of a town for the week.
I think the game looks GREAT only thing I am not happy with is that mode start scoop on the left. I hate on my IJ4 the ball just rolls in there over and over from the pops and there is no skill for it. Also I am guessing the captured ball we saw earlier was a placeholder for wolverine toy or something?
and last questions! how the eff does the nightcralwer targets and moving ramp fit into the game? how do they work? Guess everyone wants to know those questions!
anyway good job borg and team its looking great!

I believe 90% of the XM pics are photoshopped so its hard to tell if they'll be adding ramp protectors or not; the game doesnt come with a shaker so they better add protectors!

My guess is nightcrawler will be something similar to MM trolls or NGG gophers as they'll alternate pop up sequences to coincide with nightcrawlers ability and you'll have to bash em. I wonder if they can add a sequence where when you bash the left one, the magnet will catch it, we'll get an animation & voice of nightcrawler saying something (taunting?) then spin the ball back at us? The one on the right looks awefully close to the upper right flipper, wonder how that'll work; pray for no airballs

My guess on Icemans ramp is that it'll be a 2 position ramp which will add more combos and flow to the gameplay. There's a switch just before it hits the ice so im hoping for a really cool iceman animation of him shooting out ice before it hits the ice ramp.

#530 11 years ago

all in all, the programmers have their hands full with this one. Its packed with shots and possibilities. I just hope borg incorporated enough labor hours into his price package.
