Quoted from Legacy:

I'm in for a wolverine LE, I like the magneto art but man it's just too much in my face red/pink/purple.

After going back and forth, I agree. Magneto version is just too much red/purple to it. Pro artwork looks the best. I'm not sure about that monster moving ramp either.

Anyone wanted to get an LE and going down to a Pro? Just curious. I know you will miss out on the spinning disc w/ magnets and nightcrawlers, but I don't know about that ramp.

#152 11 years ago

By your logic, you can't put down money on a game you haven't played, just as easy as you can cancel based on cheap toys.

Quoted from NickBuffaloPinball:

I can't believe people are cancelling b/c the "toys" look "cheap".... You know, there's a ton of games out there with expensive cool toys, that just aren't that fun to play. Really, you can't judge this thing until you play it. Just crazy....

#153 11 years ago
Quoted from Kiwipinhead:

Lol..... Glad I waited for pic's, Tron 2.0?

Not even as good as Tron.

#154 11 years ago

Typically overhead shots stink. Wait to see it in person. I bet it's awesome. It is said to play better than Tron don't forget....

#155 11 years ago

I'm actually really liking the way this one looks! I think the Pro looks pretty sweet. I feel that Maybe ten people have asked this but how much are the Pro's going for?

#156 11 years ago

New to the whole NIB experience. When they say production begins in late June, what does that mean exactly? That's when they starting building them? When do they ship?

#157 11 years ago

550 units for an extra 2200.00 each? Don't see 1.2 million extra value there. Do like the ramp set up on the pro better, you can see the UR flipper shot clearly.

#158 11 years ago

One thing though. All this talk of game changing pins. Well, come on is this really going to better than AFM etc made in 1995??

I do though really like the Pro cabinet, which is disappointing as I was going to buy an LE !

So, now I am thinking of maybe buying a Pro as no hurry. The only feature that worries me that is not on the Pro is the spinning magnet. Can live without pop ups, moveable ramp and other bit and pieces ( especially for over 2k saved

My feelings exactly, but that spinning disc with magnets is going to be awesome.

3 different models of one game, again...

"that trick never works."

Also keep in mind these shots are with full studio lighting ....I think they'll look really cool when you're playing the game in a dark gameroom w/ the game's natural lighting & shadows.

Yes, only you said it better than I did

Quoted from RC_like_the_cola:

I'm not too familiar with Emma Frost, but I see she appears on the bad guys side in this instance. Hot comic women FTW.

She's the White Queen..

She was in X-Men: First Class (January Jones' character)

Who's to say it is or isn't without even playing it? Some may think it is after playing others may not that's pinball. I've said it before and will say it again if I am paying 5K and up from here on out it will most likely be for a brand new pin not one 20 years old that I have played hundreds of times. So far I like what I see as far as new pins are concerned. To each their own I guess.

Why use AFM as an example? There's almost NOTHING on that playfield. I know people love it, but it's very simplistic.

Agreed.. I found it kinda boring, actually. The art and sound is top notch though..

Quoted from coasterguy:

I bet the toys look fine in person. Ac dc face is fine in person.
Funny thing, we all wanted custom toys instead of Walmart toys. We get them and ................
Pinball is awesome right now!

Yep! Those figures look large in the photos, but in reality they can't be too big or the glass wouldn't slide on. I think a photo from the front rather than above would show the proportions far better.

Magneto pulling over the metal ramp with his magnetic powers ... Could be awesome.

The Magneto version looks the best I think. Colours work well together. Looks evil!

Happy I ordered one of those ...
Dave.

Here's a post I made on the other xmen thread breaking down shots:

Dude I'm looking at the pf closer and it looks sick. So much to shoot for..

Let's look further:
GAMBIT: represents pop bumpers sweet!
BEAST: represents left orbit.
WOLVERINE: bash toy w magnet
PROFESSOR X: represents left ramp I think
NIGHTCRAWLER: gem like shot plus interactive pop ups
ROGUE: shot left of magneto
MAGNETO: ball lock plus spinning disk and magnet
CYCLOPS: inner right loop
ICEMAN: right ramp. Love that Borg incorporated the moving ramp to iceman, fits perfect!
PHOENIX: right orbit
5 additional mutant inserts: Sabertooth, Shadow king, Juggernaut, sentinels, Omega red

That's 15-16 mutants that I see. Plus the scoop which I can't make out. This game is packed!

#169 11 years ago

I forgot night crawler: make that 16 mutants!

#170 11 years ago

Just noticed Cerebro under the flippers!

#171 11 years ago

I'm torn on what to do. I have a deposit on a Wolverine LE but I like the art work on the pro so much better and I can live without most of the LE features except the spinning disc. I wish there was gameplay video so we could see if it adds that much more to the game.

Kevin

I like the pro art work more as well, but that LE art package is no slouch. And no way I'm letting go of my LE order!

#173 11 years ago

I take it the Spinning Disc can never be added to the Pro.
Check GEX for good prices!

#174 11 years ago

Did you guys notice the Pro does have a magneto magnet that the LE does not. So spinning disc with magnets is cool, but the PRO has a magneto magnet.

The PRO looks to be a fantastic player. The LE worries me as I can see utter destruction with night crawler targets and the moving ramp

LE does have a magnet in the same spot take another look. Or am I misunderstanding what your saying?

Well if I had the balls to cut the hole in the playfield I wonder if it's software code only in the LE version. I have 48 hours to fall in love with the Wolverine art or save 2K. Tick-Tock

#177 11 years ago

I switched my order from Wolverine to Magneto. I just liked the Magneto art better. I like the fact that the Pro features both sides, wish there was an LE option for that, oh well.

#178 11 years ago

I think they should always allow a way to modify the Pros and add the Spinner or Pop Ups....

That's 2K you can put towards another pin, including Avengers... Unless space is an issue...

That's sort of the way I like thinking of it. You always have to ask yourself if the extra features are worth the 2k. In this case I'm not thinking so but, we need to see how it plays first.

#182 11 years ago

Pro has 4 flashers on the playfield too, only 3 on the LE's because of the moving ramp.

#183 11 years ago

If you're into X-Men....I can't see getting it without the Spinning Magnet Disc Thingy Doo-Dad...

Quoted from Erik:

That would take some elephant sized nuts to use that on your playfield.

LMAO. Thanks for that bigdaddy.

#186 11 years ago

I noticed on the pro something that lacks continuity. Cyclops is on the right of the cab in "astonishing xmen" garb, but 90's Jim Lee costume on the PF. Just found it weird. Not knocking the art. It is stunning, none the less. Looks like we have mostly Jim Lee stuff with some Astonishing Xmen mixed in. Looks like the optic blast insert we talked about is right above the big X.

Quoted from bigdaddy07:

I'm on the fence. I love the cabinet art on all of them. If you're going to photoshop art, taking it from Jim Lee is a good idea. The pf looks ok too. I would not buy a model that is missing features so the Pro is out. The #1 cool thing about the pin is the spinning magnetic disk!

The figures look huge, but so did Angus in the initial ac/dc pics. Remember the backlash during those first couple days after the press release? It was insane. "facey/dc" and all that bs. Look how many people ended up loving it.

I'm going to wait a day or so to mull it over.

#188 11 years ago

Everything looks epic to me!! Can't wait to play it! I like the toys, reminds me of MSF or TOTAN

#189 11 years ago
Quoted from hank527:

No, the LE has that same magnet too, unless you're looking at something else?

Truth be told, I have an LE on order. I don't know if I can actually pull the trigger, as I'm not in a good place in the job world right now, so getting one might be an extraordinarily dumb move, but the release of these pictures just make me want one even more. Let's see here...

The game is clearly built for speed in both versions of it. I mean, you've got Wolvie who is going to fling the ball around creating random action that I love, and the Magneto thing. The moving ramp that a lot of people seem not to like is going to potentially open up a LOT of gameplay options, such as looping that ramp from the bottom right flipper, much higher combos (I think the game can be comboed with 6 shots with it, but only three without), and the spinning disc toy...

That toy will be absolutely incredible on the LE. It has the pop up stuff around it too, meaning that it will have a LOT of ways to interact with the ball -- it could spin, it could fling balls around with the magnet, it could spin and fling balls around with the magnet, it could lock the balls in the thing in there and then spin to get a wholly different action on them... it's going to be awesome. Add to that the interaction that you'll be able to get from the Magneto shot (both of the balls coming out of it and the ball getting locked into it) and you've got one hell of a gameplay feature.

Having said all that, I'm amazed again at how little the Pro actually lacks. I had heard through the grapevine that the pro is an awesome game too, and after hearing about all this extra stuff, I didn't really believe it. Clearly, it's going to be a heck of a game too. I love how the ramps in both versions loop like they do to make X's on the playfield.

As for the art, I'm a BIG Tron fan (the whole property) and I can't say I care about the X-Men at all, but I think the art of these looks far better than the art on Tron. Both of the LE backglasses are going to look amazing with how they are made. The playfield looks outstanding too. I really dig how this whole thing came together.

I'm hoping like hell that some stuff comes together for me in the next few weeks and I can keep my pre-order... if not, anyone around my area want to get my pre-order from me so that I can come over and play it? Please?

#190 11 years ago

Oh, and Gex or anyone -- the LE says 300 Wolvie and 250 Magnie, but the data sheet says 250 of each. Do you know which one is right?

#191 11 years ago

Wow,
I got here a little late but, after a bit of excitement and some dissapointment, then reading others reactions, here's my take.

I got the Wolverine LE and the art looks good to me... I actually prefer it to the pro (except on the backbox). There's no villian, but plenty of characters. The blue trim puts me off a bit and I think chrome on the wolverine version would go great to match with his claws all over the place... maybe leave on the blue legs... dunno?

Look closely and you'll see the LE spinner has some very small black circular slits cut into it where the pro does not. I'm guessing a ball trap of some sort comes up while it spins (the mech in the promo video) and it drops to release?

Looks like I was right about the crossing element on the CAD file being the moving ramp... wish I wasn't Looks a bit clunky, but I like some variety. It might be cool?

Magneto figure looks okay to me. He's in a good spot for his size and I think the wide angle photography used is also exaggerating the figures a bit.
The half-wolverine is way too much IMO and I would totally try and replace him with a smaller and more "full body" figure if possible. Does anyone know if the figure itself gets bashed or just some target underneath it? The bust posted earlier would be an awesome replacement but probably too brittle if this thing is meant to take a beating.

Wolverine backglass is okay by me too. Not sure if I would change it.

And I agree, 3D nightcrawlers would have been far better. I like the troll modes on my MM and they offer some cool variety... but this just looks cheap. I was expecting more with these "custom toys".

#192 11 years ago

Artwork is fantastic all around - best translite I've ever seen. I like the playfield and plastics art too - are they silkscreened? They don't seem pixellated at all. The toys are about 20% too big.

The playfield uses the best features from Tron, IM and Avatar: ramp layout, magnets, and live captive ball. All of the shots look very tight, could be a lot of post hits on this one. The layout reminds me of Whirlwind more than anything.

Girls on the coin door and backbox are HAWT. Thinking about getting this one (Pro). I'd have to know that I could replace replace the toys with Marvel Select figures (might not be possible for Wolverine since he's a bash toy).

#193 11 years ago

I'm loving everything I see here! Wish I was in a position to jump in on a preorder. I think I'd go Magneto, but all three look great! I do wish there was a Premium with both sides plus the LE features, but what are you going to do. I personally love the big figures...like a few others said this thing is a comic come to life! I also do not think they will look quite as big in real life as they do in those pictures from that angle. We'll see. Either way, I love them!

One minor complaint, they could have done more with the art on the playfield itself. I was picturing something like Judge Dredd. This seems a bit more sparce (art-wise) that it could have been. Minor complaint though...and what is there looks very good.

I also think you guys might be discounting the moving ramp a bit. We still have no idea how it will be implemented and the more I think about it, the more I think it could be great. This might be wishful thinking, but what if there were a target on the bottom of that ramp? Make it a combination ramp and Batman crane. How cool would that be? Or, what if the ramp moves fast, as the ball is coming down it? That could cause some cool, unpredictable ball motion. Maybe not, but there are tons of possibilities with this other than just multiple places for the ball to land (which is pretty cool in itself).

I know some of you are disappointed, and that's too bad, but I'm even more pumped about it now that I was before. Cool stuff ahead! Life is good in pinball land!

#194 11 years ago

I pre-ordered the Wolvie LE sight unseen, and my initial reaction after shots were released was "forget it, I'm going with the pro". Every time I look closely at the Wolverine LE package though, it grows on me more and more. I like the pure hero focus of the cabinet, the look of the X-men logo compared to the pro is way nicer imo, and I like the cooler (as in more blue/white) color scheme.

Still not a huge fan of the sides of the head and the backglass, but I bet the mirrored backglass is going to look sweet in my gameroom.

I would love to see a video of the moving ramp, nightcrawler pops and the changing GI color lights in action before I make my final decision though.

#195 11 years ago

ZZZZZZ Over sized toys and PF art is very lacking with all they had to pull from.

Can't wait to play it but wouldn't drop my hard earned cash on it

#196 11 years ago
Quoted from pinball_customs:

The only problem with that is everyone who owns the LE will be terribly biased and say it's the cat's ass regardless

And then you'll get everyone who owns W/B games who may never even see an XMEN LE, much less play one, rate it 5 and say it annoys them or has bad music just to protect the ranking of their MM, MB, or AFM.

#197 11 years ago

It would be cool if the Magneto figure actually moved so it looks like his hand is causing the ramp to move to the other side.....

#198 11 years ago

Stern's greatest profit maker ever, aftermarket clear ramp replacements.. They're going to be selling a ton of them as they break from stray flying balls.

No seriously though, love the layout, but could they not do like they did on simpsons pinball party? (thin v-grooved metal ramp). It wouldn't obscure, and it would be strong (and look like wolverine claws).

Quoted from goatdan:

Good question I was wondering the same thing???????????

#200 11 years ago

So anybody worried about the VUK breaking the ramp, CHECK IT OUT. The VUK actually does a 90 degree turn towards the ramp exit. Never seen anything like it.
