Just booked my room at the Courtyard Marriott Downtown. If you don't mind forking out the cash, it's the perfect place to stay. You can walk to the convention center in about 2 minutes and it's smack in the middle of everything.

    Quoted from westofrome:

    New VIP tickets for $200.
    https://www.facebook.com/190691526866/posts/10156274337151867
    “INTRODUCING PINBURGH 2019 VIP TICKETS
Starting February 23 at 11am, one hour prior to Replay FX general admission tickets and standard Pinburgh reservations going on sale, competitors will have the option to purchase 50 limited edition Pinburgh VIP Reservations!
The Pinburgh VIP Tournament Reservation offers an upgraded opportunity to experience the event and includes a 2019 Pinburgh T-shirt, a customized lanyard and special badge, expedited check-in, and access to a comfortable VIP-only area during the tournament that will allow you to get off your feet and relax in between rounds.
All Replay FX and Pinburgh reservations will be sold at https://www.showclix.com/event/replayfx-2019”

Has anyone found out how many you can buy at the same time? Is it 5 like the other tickets?

    Quoted from ninjadoug:

What if you want to bring your family?

Exactly. I'm coming out with a group of 4 people. We are buying tickets together so we all either play in Pinburgh, or we all don't play. That way someone isn't hanging out by themselves the entire time while everyone else plays in the tournament.

I really don't understand why people have issues with buying multiple tickets. You can't sell them or transfer them. So the 4 people I'm going out with would all be trying to buy tickets anyway.

    Quoted from frolic:

wow. 1000 tix sold out instantly?

Pretty much so. However any tickets held in abandoned carts go right to the wait list as opposed to being re-released at 12:15pm.

Is it August yet? I'm ready. I have my tickets, my hotel is booked and I scheduled the days off work.

I'm more interested in the Biergarten.

Don't forget about visiting the Cat Loft at Colony Cafe...if you're into that stuff.

It says that you can pick up tickets for other people that you purchased them for early. How does that work with the wrist bands? Last year they had the non-removable plastic ones you had to shower and sleep with. Do they just hand you the wrist bands for the other people I assume?

Maybe you hit it on a bad day? A bunch of friends and I ate there at least 3 times last year and never had any issues with the food or the service.

On a side note, if you're a food person, I'd highly recommend Altius. Gorgeous view and phenomenal food.

I posted this a few days ago and was wondering if anyone knew how it was supposed to work?

I only have one suggestion to make on the streaming end of things. I didn't watch it while I was there, because I was doing other things, but I did watch it at home. I watched the YouTube upload in my theater. The issue I had was towards the end when someone make a crazy save and the announcers went wild. It all but blew out my ears.

I guess the suggestion would be some type of normalization to keep that from being such a huge dynamic range.

But then again, I'm assuming most people don't watch the stream at 135" in a theater that has 9 speakers.

    Quoted from DaveH:

He was walking around playing EMs yesterday and it was one of those situations where I wanted to say how much I love his work, but he seemed to be happily playing old games, so I just left him alone to play pinball.

I was going to do the same thing, but changed my mind.

I already felt bad for stopping Bowen and telling him how much I appreciate everything I’ve learned by watching his videos.

    #887 4 years ago
    Quoted from Dorkboy:

I said the same thing to Bowen. As a fairly new player, his videos are quite the resource. He seemed appreciative and said he only has about 400 more to do.

Are you in on his Pinball Patreon? It pays for the expenses required to travel and film the tutorials.

    Quoted from CrazyLevi:

    The lounge isn't really necessary.

There were times I would have traded my left “Insert Body Part Here” for one of those couches.

    #917 4 years ago
    Quoted from CrazyLevi:

I never had any trouble finding a place to sit between rounds. Lots of tables and chairs.

I never said I had an issue finding a place to sit. They did an absolute wonderful job with the seating. I was surprised at how much padding was on the seat of the folding chairs.

What I said was that I would have gladly paid extra for access to the couches. At least for me, the couches were more comfortable.

Why are you always on the other side of the fence? It doesn’t matter what anyone says, you’re always in disagreement....

    Quoted from NIQ:

To everyone who asked me about the 3D printed glass corner protectors that all of us techs had at Pinburgh. Here’s the file to print your own: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3789489
I’ve been using the same set for almost a year and they are still as grippy as the day I got them.[quoted image]

Anyone know what the licensing on these would be? I'd like to pay someone to print them out, but don't want to violate licensing. I PMed the OP, but they haven't been online in awhile.

    #1091 4 years ago
    Quoted from ninjadoug:

The creator put them on thingaverse: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3789489
Free to produce for your own use!

I don’t have a 3D printer. I checked and unless you’re doing it yourself it’s illegal to pay someone to print them for you.
