All done and beautiful. Lots of little custom things...catapult plastic..never liked the overly bright yellow or the basket ball!

Beautiful job mate! I don’t think it looks like clown puke at all. Wish my MM looked that bright because mine looks so dark. Still my favorite Williams pin. So classic.

I just did a full playfield up resto of my MM which I have had since 2002. I will post pictures later this week.

I have a question about the Damsel Tower. Does the light in the tower with the Damsel only flash on and off with the playfield lights. It starts dark, then once the ramp is hit for the first time, the light flashes. It doesn't stay on all the time. My light was out on the for a while before I did the work, and I changed over the LED's. I asked my sons if they remember what the light used to do, but no one remembers.

Thanks for the help. I just want to make sure that the circuit is working correctly.

My distributor is saying no new games likely until 2024. Anyone hearing something different?

Thinking you should be asking in the other club ... this one is the original MM
not remakes ...
My opinion it will never happen.
They can't deliver the CCR in 2 years ..
Good luck though

I have an original Medieval Madness. One of the things that has been driving us crazy when we play the game, when a ball is shot fast coming down the Wire Peasant Ramp, the ball often flies off the ramp. Has anyone else had this problem and is there a fix/adjustment that can be done?

Thanks,

Ken

#1110 1 year ago
Quoted from Khsjsilver:

is there a fix/adjustment that can be done?

I'd try raising the wireform a little to slow the ball down.

LTG : )

#1111 1 year ago

I had this problem that fast moving balls would fall off the wireform and slow ones would not. After looking around for some time I found that one of the clear mini-posts actually was high enough between the two wires of the wireform that it would cause the launch of fast shots. Slow shots would just jiggle a little but not fall off. I filed about 1/8 inch off the post and all was OK!!

#1112 1 year ago

Yep, you should check that. I also took the very top off the mini-posts when I first got the game back in 2002.

Thanks for the great suggestion! You state "clear mini-posts" as if there are more than one. I have attached pics of my wire ramp. I did find a red post that does stick up as you can see from my pic. I am going to file it down and give it a try. I don't see any other "clear mini-posts". Am I missing something.

Thanks,

Ken

On yours it's a red mini-post ... but you could put a washer where the wireform is attached to the playfield.

#1115 1 year ago

I was at my computer and remembered it as clear. It is red and is the one as pictured above.

#1116 1 year ago

Yeah, that's the one. Just take a pinch off the top and the ball will no longer be deflected off the wire ramp.

#1117 1 year ago

Finally getting started on replacing my playfield with a restored/clear-coated original. I restored the pf (to be installed) earlier this year. It was in very nice low play condition with some small areas of the artwork that needed touching up. Some of the inserts had sunk so I just leveled them with 7 coats of clear and wet sanding. It turned out great but lots of work. It really made me appreciate the folks that do pf restorations.

#1118 1 year ago

So I got everything off the bottom of the pf and dropped the wiring harness. I am starting to get a better look at the play wear and I must say that my suspicions are correct in that this game was routed longer than the original owner stated. He did a parcel restore and some mods before I got it. He installed a full Cliffy and Mantis set in this thing which I will use on the restored pf going in. The Castle Lock in MM takes a beating and (uniquely) is hidden inside so the wear can’t be seen. If your large (rectangle) castle hole is oval, then your game has seen a lot of play. This machine has been well cared for so it is pretty clean. I went through the mechs once already so most components will just need a wipe down.

I want to do the same, but I need to find an original playfield.

Anyone know where I might find one?

Why not get one from the MMR?

Is it predrilled and dimpled the same as the original or would you need to make a template off the old one to convert the MMR PF?

Quoted from Manny65:

If I understood correctly, the top side would be drilled/dimpled properly. The underside though, would have differences.

Quoted from Coyote:

That's right. But screwing the lamp boards and a few other PCBs into the right place without markers isn't really a problem. Screws for mechanical components go in exactly the same places.

A pinball friend bought a MMr NIB and at the same time got a spare playfield for it but never used it. I bought the playfield from him a year ago and put it into my original MM and had no problems moving stuff over.

Topside everything matched with holes and such. Below many dimples were positioned for the new modern pcb`s but its easy to just make new pilot holes and screw in. All assemblys fit directly.

#1130 1 year ago

I want a MMR playfield as it would likely be better quality than Mirco.

But where can you get MMR ones.. everyone seems to be sold out

#1131 1 year ago

https://www.planetarypinball.com/ Try them. Or ask if they'll be available when CGC makes more MMR's.

Installed the Precision Pinball Flipper System today. I had great success with the PPFS on my Rick & Morty machine so I thought I'd try it on Medieval Madness. I put the entire package on; Halo's, Bushings, Keyed Shafts. They make the shots feel so crisp is the only way I can describe it. Here's a pic of what Black Halos + Purple Titans looks like.

Is it possible to buy a MM tub insert panel, Williams part# 03-9419-50059 anywhere?
If not, does anyone have one, preferably new that they would want to sell?

#1134 1 year ago
Quoted from Pinminister:

Is it possible to buy a MM tub insert panel,

Guessing yellowed and cracked...

One of my next projects is to install a standard wood panel like before they started cutting costs

#1135 1 year ago

It is yellow but not cracked. I can see down the road that someday this could become a problem, I'm trying to gather up some of these hard to find parts so that I have them on hand if needed..

#1136 1 year ago
Quoted from Pinminister:

Good thinking ...
As stated I'm going the wood light panel route... annoying design with these tubs sliding down the glass when removed .

#1137 1 year ago

I agree, I like the wood panels better too.
If you do this project making the wood frame to take place of the tub, if it is not to much trouble , could you send some pictures and directions on how you do this.. Thanks..

#1138 1 year ago

Will do ....

#1139 1 year ago

If need be, the tubs can be repaired with metal mesh and epoxy. I had a critical piece break out of my CV tub where the coil mounted and had to fix it since the tub couldn’t be sourced.

Hey folks,

I'm looking to buy a MMr, but upon inspection I noticed that the castle explosion isn't working. It makes the sounds and I hear the tapping of what I imagine is the solenoid, but the castle won't move. It's constantly in the destroyed position. Does anyone know what the fix may entail?

Cheers

Could be just a broken spring.

Works of a solenoid in the original...
So could be a broken wire or a pooched solenoid (doubtful)
Nothing major in the way of repairs ...
Perhaps reach out in the MMr thread as this thread are most original MM owners...
May be a slight difference as to how it functions

If the plunger that knocks them is working, then the base of the biggest tower is broken.

Four screws hold the towers base down. Easy to lift off. Inspect, and repair if needed.

#1144 1 year ago

Thanks folks...it sounds like repairing it is possible.

Loyd...is this the part you're talking about?

Yes. 4 screws ( where the red circle are ) and the whole shebang lifts right off.

The towers have springs, axles, and clips, holding things together.

If the base is broken on your big tower, here is a complete one - https://www.marcospecialties.com/pinball-parts/04-10942.2

I didn't search for just the base.

Came up with this decal flap gate wood cover/protector this week. I realize Mantis makes a metal protector, I went in a different direction with the decal.
