Hi all,
I’m looking for a used original MM playfield. If anyone maybe has done a switch with a brand new and would be willing to sell or just has one, please PM me.
Thanks !

#1052 1 year ago
Quoted from Flipper_McGavin:

Good to know. I'll look more into it later today. Did the secondhand market push prices up where it is cheaper to scratch build this thing now? Is there a link with playfield photos to guide you on assembling the entire playfield? I did read that you can use either the original MM playfield or the MMr playfield as the only difference is the holes underneath for the circuit boards. Hopefully I can find a used worn playfield as I like restoring those.

I tracked my spending to the penny and I will be in under $8500 after it’s complete.

I got a used playfield here for $350 that I’ll restore. I’ve heard you can use MMR PF though.

Check this out for build info… this guy documented his pretty thoroughly:
httpsa://www.flipjuke.fr/viewtopic.php?f=34&t=144886

MM is pretty easy because the mechs are all divided well in the BOM, so it’s simple to group the parts and build those separately.

I just remembered there is one other part I know of that is not available… the bridge flap. We have a DXF for this too, so if you decide you want in the group buy let me know and I can get you one of these too in the same order. They’re like $2.

Don't know if mentioned but when I was researching for scratch building a MM maybe two years ago I realized the white plastic backbox tub for the lights was impossible to buy (and probably hard to find a used one in decent condition too). Might have changed now.

#1054 1 year ago

Scratch building right now. That tub is available from Marco. Cost so far 16300 aud in parts...no skimping on any quality and lots of custom mods and tweaks.

I like the hinged light boards better. There are templates floating around with the hole pattern.

Me too the Plastic sucks , gets yellowed and brittle...
Where is template you discussed?

#1057 1 year ago

I did a hinged setup in my Afm scratch build. If you are going that route you may as well custom the lighting as well to suit your taste to the translight imo. It was the same cost to build either system propperly.
I went crazy with customing this though.

With Medieval allthough I am going crazy blinging it, I am keeping it very close to original with alot if subtle removable mods.

By the time this tub goes yellow and brittle I'll be long gone!

Where's you find the NOS playfield?

We bought it with the game in 2013 in Buffalo from original owner...

Good question… I have IJ, TZ and CC but can’t find the others. If would be easy to create one from a picture though.

For those in this group buy, we’re up to 7 buyers so the price is down to $47.76 per guide.

WTB: 2 troll carriages, PM if you have some spares. Also WTB Catapult wire form, left return wire form.

EDIT: found above, now concerned about putting together the drawbridge mech, absolutely open to a spare drawbridge even if incomplete, let me know, thanks.

Pf done bar metal ramps...lots of little home made mods along the way. Can't post video clips so will throw up on my YouTube channel.

Hi guys, i wanted to replace the original Red Dragon with a 2 headed one from Papo. For those who have it, can you share pics and suggestions on how to correctly put it in place on the right ramp? It is bigger than the original! Image for reference
Thanks in advance!

I did this many years ago. Really like the upgraded dragon. If my memory serves me right I installed the dragon on the original bracket just with screw(s) (I could be wrong on this, would have to check, but out of town right now).
I had to use a heat gun to warm up the wings and tail to make them movable as the wings were too high once the dragon was installed for the glass to be put back in. The tail also had to be repositioned for the the ramp and ball travel down the ramp. Just be careful of heating as you just want to get the wings and tail to be just pliable enough so that they can be moved to a new position. Heat, move, hold in position and let it cool. May have to do this a few times, but overall it's worth it.
Good luck.

It took me a couple of years to find mine. I had a remake, but always wanted an original to have a little piece of pinball history and nostalgia.

I had the OG and remake in my basement side-by-side, and despite what some think, there is definitely a difference in the way they play.

In some ways, I prefer the snappier flippers on the remake, but with the original, the more genuine 90s B/W feel just can't be replaced.

Both games are great, but for me personally, the original was the one I wanted.

I've purchased almost every part to one day do a full restoration. All I need is an NOS playfield, and I'll be set.

Does anyone have a new shaker motor for an original Medieval Madness they would be interested in selling.
I believe the part number for this was A-19169-MM.
If so, let me know.
Thanks.

That’s a Marco part number it looks like. MM doesn’t have a factory shaker so this probably includes some kind of harness that runs it when the castle flashers go off. My buddy has one on his AFM and it’s cool but limited in its integration.

I have a pinshakers one installed (www.pinshakers.com), was a beta-tester for the product. Tested it on a CftBL and MM.
You can read my installation and first impression here:

Great product in my opinion

So, is Pinshakers still in business?
Nobody has this in stock, I tried emailing Pinshakers for information but have not received a message back.
Do you know of anyone or any place that might have one of these to sell?

Thanks.

#1074 1 year ago

Ok here is hopefully an easy question... in regards to the outlanes what is the 'factory' settings? Are both posts as far back as possible? Or in the middle? Thanks!

You could do a new Pinsound board and shaker. This way you can get different upgraded sound package and/or original with a shaker that can be adjustable on more areas for motion.
Check it out here:
https://www.pinsound.org/machine/medieval-madness/
If that's too much, PM me as I have the shaker you are requesting about in my MM. Would be willing to pull and sell to you as I would like to upgrade to the Pinsound board and shaker.

I would say factory is usually far back (all the way open). Remember these machines were made with operators in mind unlike today's machines. Making $ was the main reason they were made, not today's which is made for a more home/collector environment. Middle and/or all the way in leads to longer ball time and less $. Just my view if I was an operator.

I uncrated mine when new and have never moved them. It came with the movable outlane posts all the way back.

Mikespinball,
Thanks for the information, a couple of questions:
The Pinshaker motor you have is it the standard or the premium?
About how old is it?
Is it working perfectly?
Do you have the directions to install it?
And finally, how much do you want for it?

Thanks

#1080 1 year ago

I will have an original MM playfield that I will part with. I have a restored clear coated original that I WILL BE replacing at some point! I do not know when I will be able to get to it. Maybe this winter maybe sooner. I have no idea what I will want for it yet. It might be just make an offer. I don’t know… the pf is in pretty good shape it just has an insert decal over the sword insert and the arrow insert. Merlins hole is in pretty good shape because the previous (original) owner used Cilffys right away. If you were to look at the game right now, you be asking why are you changing it.
It looks good to anyone that doesn’t know it’s few issues.

How to remove/replace a small tower???

Hi All;

My right front small tower (the one that does not move) is broken. I've ordered a replacement part.

I don't see any exposed fasteners. How do I remove the old one? Is it glued in place?

Thanks for your help!

How does the drawbridge, and portcullis register hits? What kind of switch does it use?

Opto switches.

Thanks for the responses. Okay, so I think I found them. Do these optos register hits for both the drawbridge, and the gate? Or is there a different set closer to the gate?

Just about finished scratch build..came up a treat.
Actually built it for someone but they have pulled out so it looks like I'm the owner of my 4th MM.

I’m curious, what was the bill of material to scratch build the MM and did you have to fabricate any parts

#1095 1 year ago

Too much! But it's beautiful and in the vein of an original not the remake. Lots of custom touches I'll post a video when done, hopefully next few days.

Materials cost more than a nib remake, labour approx 200 plus hours. I made some of the lane guides that I couldn't source, added original Williams mrs switches to the ramp exits for a cleaner look, hand painted the castle parts custom interactive apron and backboard, custom, tweaked cab art and translite.
