A couple months back, I scored a good enough score on Cowpoke (ignore the high score
written on the backglass) to take a pic..
On the Surfer, years back, a score of 259,670 was once scratched in. A couple weeks ago, I
scored a 239, and change. Today, I flipped it on the first ball and throughout the game a 2nd
flip, and fell just short of a 3rd for a score of 293,770.
Any other rememberable high scores out there (especially a flip on a 4 digit AAB machine)?

'Hi Dolly' (it is not a AAB) scores that were on Pinside, by a past member were posted in the 7,000 range. That seemed really high. To get a score over 1500 is tough to do. The game has an Extra Ball feature it is only by chance that the Extra Ball is won.

Here are a few of my highest scores remembered through the years.....

Sing Along: In Feb 2012 my score book reads 8,534 and 10 replays. Man....i had that wedgehead singing a tune.

Flipper Pool: This (add a ball) game is no longer in my collection, but got a high sore of 19,847 in 1999.Many pool ball racks were reset and i remember it going on for much longer then a replay game.

Skill Pool: I have this game in my garage game room and the book says in Sept 2006 i scored 2,985 points and 4 replays. Also had 2269 in 2004.

Play Ball: Game is no longer in my collection but have page from high score and reads 9,264 points and 44 runs with 5 replays.

Volley: My score books reads on April 2007 i scored 306,240 points and 8 replays.Wish i timed some of these games.

Jet Spin: Sept 2003 my high score book reads 177,890 and 4 replays.Highest score in my book reads by (jrpinball) is 194,400 and 5 replays. This game is no longer in my collection, but still have documentation recorded and sold it to a friend 2 miles from my house.

    2001: High score book reads in May 2003 i got 16,914 and 8 replays.Recently i had 14,186 in Feb 2010.

Target Pool: My score books reads in Sept 6th 2011 i got 16,797 points and 10 replays. I had 15,167 back in 2005 and in May 2008 i only scored 10,470, but maxed the credit wheel out for 15 free replays.Lots of knocking going on that game!

Sweet Hearts: “my book reads 2,099 points and 16 replays in Jan 1999 which went one step pass the 15 replay credit wheel limit. Of course with this many replays i lit all the cards out on the back glass for the ALL ROLLOVER special.”

Sure Shot: High score book reads 185,690 points in Aug 2006 with 9 replays maxed out on the half moon credit wheel.

I’ve rolled Atlantis a few times. Hard to do.

And what surprised me, a couple machines I haven't yet owned has an Extra Ball feature. I just learned that about
Dancing Lady also. I think I know of a wild Dancing Lady (actually maybe a few, but I mean pinball) that I think I'll be
    looking further into..

I don't have many Replay machines set up, but if your scores has reflection off the Flipper Pool score,
I have to think somewhat they're world class..
I may have gotten in the 9 thousands on F.P., but I know I haven't turned it, and actually as far as I can
remember, Fun Park is the only 4 digit AAB that I have flipped..

No AAB set up, only replays...

My best is probably hitting 377,040 on Gulfstream set for 3 ball play... I’ve only broken 300k on it two other times, and it still is played a TON.

Our son Caidon who is now a freshman in college, scored 7063 (8 total replays - 4 on score, 4 specials) on WMS Apollo when he was just a 4 year old... I had written it down along with the Apollo match circuit issue I was trying to solve at the time; I found this last week when cleaning out a bunch of junk in my pinball ducument cabinet. I texted him this photo... we both got a big smile from this memory.

Real hard. I think my best on it is about 130k with 12 replays.

The other day, while letting wax on a couple playfields set, I played a game on the Star Slugger
and got the hundreds reel in motion by getting the 3 decks in the same inning 3 different times..
Coincidentally, today while waiting for paint to dry, I got the same score on the World Series Shuffle.
Topping 100 on this Shuffle (for me anyways) is a pretty good score..

There are several settings that directly affect high scores so sometimes a number alone doesn’t tell you much if you don’t know what the settings were. One time I was working on the 4th rollover of my Bon Voyage, around 350,000 points, and I had about 7 balls in the bank (you can get up to 9). I just gave up. It had become too easy (and boring) and the settings were too liberal. Who knows I could have gone to a million if I had the patience.

AAB make it worse. Once you get good at getting the extra balls it’s too easy to keep it going.

When I did this I had it set for 5 balls, the “difficult” setting for the bonus lights (hit them all one at a time rather than getting a pair at a time), add a ball for getting the bonus, and add a ball for getting 125,000 points.

Now there are no more free balls, I have it set to give a credit for the bonus and for the high score. This cuts the high scoring way back, although for me I can still roll it over with 5 balls fairly often. One rollover is ok as there is a 100,000 light so the max score becomes 199,990. 3 balls would make it a good challenge but I keep it at 5 because that is more friendly for guests.

My incentive now is to try to win games and make the credit wheel number go up (even though it’s on free play anyway).

Nice scores on your pitch and bat games.
You have a fantastic collection of machines too. It's great you share them here on pin side.

Cool that you kept track of those scores. I wrote a few in pencil on the back of the light box panel,
but wish I kept better track. Kinda like wanting to see that memorable photo that never was takin'..

    #12 5 years ago

I have always kept track of high scores, because everyone always asks after playing a satisfying game. I found an old Holiday Inn phone book cover to store them. Each page tracks the 25 highest scores, plus honorable mention scores. On the back of each sheet I keep track of maintenance records.

On my favorite EM... Target pool, December 2017 with a score of 13,720. Was aiming to beat Vic’s high score but fell short.

    #14 5 years ago

Frank.... I'm glad to hear someone else out there besides the regulars that post here are playing their EM’s. I guess every EM's are just laying dormant in their collections. Your 13,720 is a great high score and I'm sure that game had your blood boiling. Hopefully you don’t beat my all time high score of 16,797 anytime soon.

Played my 2001 the other night and turned the score reels around and ended up with 11,450 points and it felt great to get the knocker to sound off 8 times. My all time high score on this game is 16,914.

Played my Target Pool last night 5 games and this was the highest score I got.

i scored a 245,000 on Jet Spin Friday night but thats with the game set up for free ball at 90k and 120k. Manged to get an extra ball at 220k as well. Fun fun game.

I agree...Jet Spin is a great player. I miss mine. A close friend of mind still has it and lives only 2 miles from me. I can't wait to buy it back.
Anyway Ken....245,000 sounds like a great score. I'll post a picture of my Jet Spin high scores from my high score book.

But you probably left yours in replay mode. In extra ball mode its almost too easy.

    #18 5 years ago

I had never played a Jet Spin, but if I get the chance, I will now
    certainly give it a try..
This machine perhaps the majority hasn't played. But anything over
20 on the Ringer I would consider as a very decent score. A ringer
    on the 3rd, 6th, and 7th shots = a free shot..
Earlier today, I tossed 2 ringers in the 3rd, 4 in the 6th, and 2 in the
    7th and rang up a score of 36 points. Scoring 14 and 20 points = a free
    toss also..

Yep still playing them, I go between the newer games and the EMs. No use owning a pin if you do not play it.

Pinside should have a high score forum that has a topic for each pin, everything time someone adds a new high score into pinside, the pin topic gets updated.

    There is, kind of.

Each game on Pinside has its own page. You can add your scores to the data base. The scores entered accumulate in their perspective game profile.

On this particular machine, I have to consider 4,000 or higher a very good score.
Earlier today, I rifled off my highest score to date with a 4,520
I believe the previous high was 4,430
From the Bally and Midway compressor Rifle/Pistol gun machines, I have to place
    Rifle Gallery 1st..

After recently replacing the manikin's torsion spring, he is now bowling much
more accurately. On the 7 ft. version, I'd have to say a 200 is a very good game..
Earlier today, while bondo was hardening, I rolled a couple of games and this 227
I believe to be the highest since having the machine (maybe 18 or 20 years)..
This past Saturday a Friend nickled in a 410 on the Bally "Skill Roll"..

    IMG_1468 (resized).JPGIMG_1468 (resized).JPG
    #24 5 years ago

While paint was drying on the League Leader, I topped the previous high of 227 on
the Ten Strike. As long as the Manikin is rolling accurately, they're a nice player..

Team One was the 2nd pinball that I owned, and although not presently set up, I still and always
will have it. I've heard much about it's unappealing art work, but that never stopped me from enjoying
    its game play..
Last week a Friend stopped over and one of the machines we played was Mini Golf. A low score of
18 was played which I believe is the best score since having the machine (maybe 10 years)..

I’ve scored 10 a number of times on my Little Pro. I have a couple trick shots I ‘jokingly’ offered these tips here to anyone who sent me $5.00, but had no takers.

What you do is play a couple games with your ‘mark’, then offer to play for money and bet that you’ll win by, say, 4-5 strokes. (Beer should be involved in this) Then I use the trick shots. I’m terrible I know.

*and no, I don’t want $5, but just putting it out there that there are Trick Shots

Interesting you bring that up... I grew up in the age of 3 inch flips for the most part, but never played this game on location; that’s odd because we rode bikes or convinced our parents to drive us around to play pins at a ton of locales in the Northern VA area... so fast forward to an Allentown show in the early 90s... there was a decent playing Jungle Princess that I just loved. Later, I found a nice one locally (except for a lot of outhole wear) and bought it. I learned kickout hole repair, touch up and clear coat techniques on it, and now I play it as much or more than any game in/my small collection. Highly recommend!!!

I can tell you this... I’ve been collecting and/or playing for 50 years... played hundreds of games.... this is in my top 5 all time games easily... the coolest thing for me is that unlike almost all other games offering more than 2 flippers, all 4 flips on thus game have great shot potential... it can be a brutal game but also rewards good ball control and shot making.

After working on a little project in the game room, I'd figure its been a while,
so I'll play a game of Cowpoke. By completing 1-7 three times, with the added balls,
I was able to flip her over. Outside of Fun Park, I believe it's the only 4 digit Gottlieb
Add-a-Ball that I ever turned over..

Years back, I went through a Roller Coaster for a Friend, and can't remember what a decent
score would be. I'm sure it's not in the 7,000s like yours, but I'll have to ask him what a pretty

Cool, I remember when I played Gottlieb's Roller Coaster for the first time. It was at Gil Maine's Truck City on Wyoming between Michigan Avenue & Southern Street. Guessing around 1973.

It replaced the Chicago Coin Hi-Score Pool that used to be there.

I already replaced my old high score sign, but I beat it by a little more than 500 points. I have it set on 5-ball play. I’m sure it’s no record, but it’s a challenging pin, and I was excited to finally put up a new high score.

That’s not all that far from me. In fact for a very short while I drove truck for Schneider International, and the OC was on Wyoming south of Michigan Ave, but that was in the late 90s.

I bought Roller Coaster at PATZ a few years ago. It was on my wishlist because of the uncommon features (pointer and wireform habitrails on an EM). I think it’s an underrated pin. It’s a challenging one, but it’s very rewarding to get a good score on it.

I’ve never played Hi-Score Pool. It looks like it would be frustrating trying to guess where the ball is. Did you miss the one at Truck City when it was gone?

Back in the early/mid 90s, I got a call on a High Score Pool. It actually kinda played and after
playing a couple balls, I turned it down for $20.00 Already having quite a few Wedge Heads

Didn't really miss it as there was another one closeby at West Warren Rec. which was the upstairs bowling alley on Warren & Pinehurst on the South side of Warren. Across from Pine Tree Bowl. Besides, Roller Coaster really caught my eye as it was the first pin I ever saw with "ramps".

This was in my bicycle days as I lived near McGraw & Central in Detroit. My buddies & I hit all of the Dearborn bowling joints as they all had pinball. Holiday Bowl, Schaefer Lanes, Mercury Lanes, Oxford Lanes, Pine Tree and West Warren Rec. All are gone now. The other Dearborn bowling alley I recall is Maples Lanes which was the first to close (late '80's?) but I think the building is still standing as a clothing superstore.

Dearborn also had two Arcade 5's owned by Gene Wagner & Fred Braggenzer as well as their Target International Coin Co & Archery range. They were the cat's ass for pinball in the '70's. Also their Jolly Genie arcade in Dearborn Heights.

Wow, you went a long way in your bicycle days! Oxford Lanes was a long way from McGraw & Central. In 1973 I was 11 years old and living in Rosedale Park by Southfield Fwy and Fenkel, so I didn't frequent any of those places on my bicycle rides. I only played pinball when I happened to have the opportunity, but you made the rounds!

Last night, one of the games played with a pinball pal was Hollywood and was able to
turn her over four times and having a score of 450,140
For a machine that doesn't go for a whole lot, it's simple, but not a bad little two player..

Not the highest score, but the strangest score I've ever gotten was exactly 100,000 on a "Card Trix".
Yup, the score reels were all at zero when the last ball drained!

The only bowling alleys somewhat within biking distance to you with pins were all on Plymouth Road. Mont Carlo Lanes, Mayflower Lanes and the one which the name escapes me one block West of Telegraph. That one became a car service shop around 1987. Same building. Mayflower is still open. Mont Carlo burnt down around '84 IIRC.

It's been a little while, so I thought I'd check out the Star Slugger.
Getting a Home Run in all 3 decks in the same inning (which I did
twice in this game) isn't very uncommon, but hitting a "Super Home Run"
rarely happens which I also did during this game. Hitting all 3 decks twice,
along with hitting the Super Home Run accounted for 90 runs alone which
helped break the previous high of 125 runs. Cracking 100 runs doesn't
    happen often..

I’m really mediocre at best when it comes to playing but I had a marathon game on my 2001 with a score of 23,782 and yes I need to order a new backglass. Webb just started making them again.
