If the paint has a tacky appearance, he can buy an acrylic paint tester at any home improvement store in the paint department. Lots of great products to remove acrylic paint.

Exactly. As a painting contractor and I prefer to just test with denatured alcohol and a clean rag. You know within seconds when it either gums up (if it’s acrylic) or not (oil base).
Quoted from PoBoyPinball:How many of my fellow LEP-ers will jump in the truck when they get off work drive 3 hours one way and back home for a good deal and be up at 6 am for work? I’m guessing most all of us.[quoted image][quoted image]
Yep! I might even get up at 4 am to start working on it.

One of our favorite EM's and in my restoration queue. Just need to find a good backglass for it.
So i picked up a super nice road kings for 1k a few weeks back. Just loving this thing. So simple, yet addictive. Timed lock shots. Cool music and sound effects. Flashers galore!
For me, more simple pins are best. Easier objectives. All about getting the high score and less about completing modes, etc. Simple pinball is best.
ROAD KINGS!
Quoted from Blackbeard:So i picked up a super nice road kings for 1k a few weeks back.
Not to be a kill joy, but $1000 to a true LEP man is like 4~5 machines...
Quoted from PoBoyPinball:Here is a LEP unload. No grandson (my normal help) available to off load today. So why not do it like I did dirt bikes back in the day just needed a wider ramp.
[quoted image]
Nice, used the gutter in front of my suburban abode for same help a few times.
Quoted from metallik:Terrain-assisted unloading.. nice!
I have a ramp to my garage, do the same thing. Works great!
Quoted from Bmad21:Got a shuffle bowler for $175 half off the orginal price.
Killer deal!
Let's see some photos.

Hey what is this button and light do at the bottom of my alley.
20211220_144049.jpg20211220_144053.jpgThe fun might only last till you get it home but the price is hard to beat. I might if it were right next door but not a 5 hour round trip.
Are the top pop bumper caps those hard to find Williams kind?
$150 and local!
The main water damage goes from the coin door and in a little. Paint is gone from the top of the head. PF has some planking, but the art is there and the pf looks very playable. Haven’t run my fingers down the pf yet— can’t get the lockdown bar off. The mech is totally rusted and frozen.
Hope to be able to just clean the cabinet, evaporust the coin door, and patch under the coin box. Then get the mechanics working. The coils all look almost new. Expect the work on this to be mostly on the outside.

Love the lowercase “i” lol that could’ve easily been mistaken for a different word if not made how it was.

Can't unsee that now.
Quoted from undrdog:Mean Green is cleaning up this LEP cabinet nicely, except for these brown stains. Possibly rust or water stains.
Any suggestions?
Jasco paint stripper would work nicely......
Quoted from dasvis:jasco paint stripper would work nicely......
It wouldn’t take off all the paint?
My biggest problem with the Low-End Pinball is that I can't just fix and play. My OCD won't let me, let them be ugly. Next thing you know it's a show quality restoration. I can't even buy an old beat up car as a A-to-B vehicle. I'll wind up doing paint correction, tune up, and detailing...lol!
It's sometimes a curse...hahaha!
Quoted from undrdog:It wouldn’t take off all the paint?
it's half off already.... go for it & repaint......
Quoted from undrdog:No, I just want to get the brown stains off. The rest is fine.
It looks like it's bare wood in a lot of spots...are you repainting that? The stains on the yellow might come off with naphtha or alcohol and a little Magic Eraser (although I don't like the way those disintegrate into white dust).
I couldn't help it, but your comment made me think of this:
Quoted from PantherCityPins:Got the Top Card on the left this week for $200. Cabinet is solid, backglass is great and playfield is dirty but not worn. Will be a clean and shop and make it a players machine.

Good for you. I’ve had mine 3 years now. Why didn’t you get Abra too?
Quoted from schwism:Good for you. I’ve had mine 3 years now. Why didn’t you get Abra too?
That shot is from my garage. The Abra was purchased a couple weeks ago and will be fully restored with a Wade Krause playfield.

Nice buy on Top card! I picked mine up about 8 years ago for $250 & it's still sitting in my "restore" area.
It looks boring, but actually is a fun pin.

That’ll be awesome. I like your taste in games.

What's the matter with the original playfield?
Quoted from edednedy:What's the matter with the original playfield?
Good question. It looks pretty good from that picture of the part that is visible.
Quoted from edednedy:What's the matter with the original playfield?
It’s a bit worn. The buyer wants a new playfield and full resto. The original will be kept or sold to put into another machine that needs it.
Latest LEP pick up. 250 with pretty good pf and backglass. Otherwise needs lots of work. And yes, set up on my fully covered back patio at the moment. And fully covered with moving blankets when not working on it.

Solid LEP buy for the short green
Here’s the after shot of Top Card. Deep clean/magic eraser and two coats of wax, several gremlins chased out, etc.
Lives again.

Nice find on the Travel Time. One thing you need to do, is carefully tweak the timer. Too short between pulses and the game ends quickly. Too long between pulses and you can play all day. It's a finer line than you might think. There are a lot of ways to add time, including a fairly easy plunger shot.
I increased mine by less than 2 seconds between pulses one time. It went from being a challenging game that usually lasted about the same length of time as a 5 ball game from that era and was very difficult to turn over, to a game that I turned over 4 times and finally just quit with 120 time units remaining

Is it wrong I can identify the Xenon playfield on the right?

Beat me to it, I was thinking the same thing.

Had one a couple of years ago. Fun game and found the timer adjustment made a big difference. Thanks.

Btw, notice your metal garage door isn’t insulated. They sell foam kits, less than $200, and make a big difference in sound and temp.

Thanks, I'll look into that!
