Not the lowest of low end - but for $300 and functioning - it should shine up nicely. I'm not afraid of a little planking and the backglass is gorgeous. +1 for the original documents found inside.

I generally pay thru the nose. Getting old. Time is valuable. My cheap buy? $154 for a Queen of Diamonds.

    Heck yes!
For that condition, with paperwork. Nice LEP buy.

Got this beauty on eBay for $400 and a short drive. I was really lucky on the timing I guess. The backglass and playfield are in really good shape and the only issue it had, besides worn out flipper shafts (since replaced), was something that was created by 2 mangled switches on the Game Over Relay. That was resolved thanks to some good people on this site and now it’s nothing but fun.

Just grabbed for $225, a few $ more than I thought it was worth but the chances to buy don't come around that often up here in the sticks. Basically functioning but needs lots. My first woody!

Awesome. Don’t see many woodies come up for sale.
Is it supposed to have wooden legs?

It turns out that steel legs are correct:

We played the crap out of one of those when it was on route. As I recall, the match unit was stuck on one # & we just tilted when it hit that on the third ball if we were not close to winning on score.
    Good times!

    #211 5 years ago

Got my first "free" pin. They were asking $500, and before I left saying sorry I didn't want it. They asked me to take if for free. Restoring this one was beyond my skill set, so sold for a nominal amount to a Pinsider who will give it the TLC it needs and deserves.

Turned out 'low-end' in price only....pulled out of an old steel shed right beside a lake it turned out fantastic for about a $400 US investment. That would include the pop bumpers coming yet. Didn't want to order them until I had liftoff....

Bally Beat the Clock is a cool and rare game too. I had one. Another that got away. Damn all those new pins that are being made. Something always has to go when I get something new. You will enjoy Beat The Clock when you get it cleaned up and running. Fun one based on time and not balls played. Definitely different, but in a very good way.

    #216 4 years ago

It's great for multi player. ....never know which order someone is finished their game.

Picking up the new pops this week.

Landed a couple free machines a few months back. Just finished getting one back up and running, so now Contact has joined my “Hey, that’s not El Dorado” C-lister EMs. The other freebie is an Atari Middle Earth which would surely look right in place with this collection if there were room.

I manged to grab a Pat Hand and a Jolly Rodger last month for $100 Cdn each last month.....it'll be summer before I get to them but the deals are still out there. Just take a lot more time and, especially, good luck to score..

And I just picked up another Jolly Roger for $350 with a mint BG and very nice PF......going to combine to make a very nice pin for me and a free, not so nice pin, for my friend.

Love me some Jolly Roger! Congrats! I sometimes wish I still had mine. Probably the best 4 Player EM I owned. Everybody loved it It's so fun to play.

Only reason it's gone is I was thinning the herd and the layout is kinda similar to Pit Stop.

No Pit Stop, Jolly Roger would still be here. Mine was kinda rough. If a nice one shows up, I may get another.

Here's a low end for you. I bought it back in May, but I've been sitting on it doing the repair. I'm happy to say this is now fully functional with just one pop coil and a complete reattachment of the body to head connector. (I only wish I could have met the original owner that didn't understand what a Jones PLUG is)

    $100.

$200 Baseball. Backglass pretty good, playfield looks almost perfect, although haven't pulled dirty glass off yet and checked closely. Cabinet bottom, and backbox, not so great. Can't wait to get working on it, but third project in line now.

That is so cool. I wonder how hard it would be to essentially do a giant sized playfield plastic and stick an entire pf graphic to the underside of a protector like that.

This will take some guts to admit this publicly here, but I'm going to do it (and I'm sure I'm not the only one)...

If I have a pin to sell, I will try Craigslist and rec.games.pinball and Mr. Pinball first before posting here. (I have had pretty good success selling rate on all three).

Why? So I don't have to pay the game selling fees. (If I do post here or ebay, I'll increase my price to cover the fees).

I know a lot of bad/negative vibes coming my way, but at least give me credit for being honest.

Yep, get avoiding Ebay fees, but Pinsides are pretty reasonable. Funny though, my credit union charges a small fee for overseas transactions, and that bugs me. LOL

    #235 4 years ago

Pinside charges a fee? Thats the first I've ever heard a forum that charges.

They do charge, but it’s reasonable. A lot of people find ways around it anyway. I pay the fee every time. And it’s even less when you’re a Pinside plus member, like you and I are. We get a reduced fee.

Personally, I don’t even list on CL anymore. Haven’t in a long time. Got sick of all of the tire kickers that stop by with no intention to buy, let alone some weirdos.

    Quoted from Colsond3:

What makes you a "pinside plus" member? How do you tell if someone is a 'plus member?

You donate, I believe it’s $35 per year. It puts the heart with the plus sign next to your handle. There are different levels of donations. With Plus, there are other perks like sending pics via PM, and for sale notifications.

You can click on your account profile, then there is a link about donating as soon as you scroll down in the “What do you want to do next” section.

I agree with avoiding EBay, too much.... so Pinside, FB Marketplace, or CL.

I'm thinking I may be able to join the ranks here... Picked up a Williams Superstar some months ago for $150CDN, and a Gottlieb Volley yesterday for $200 CDN. Thoughts?

both awesome games. not much love for super star but would rank it high as a williams.

    #245 4 years ago

Volley is a great game, excellent score

    #246 4 years ago

Super Star is better than most folks give it credit for. Once you tune her up properly, kick up the back legs to 6-8 degrees, and the game takes on a nastier disposition. I love the center hole protected by the single drop... can be tricky at times as the ball has a tendency to bounce out on a direct hit toward a center drain. I also like the left/right drain posts. That coupled with the center post, you can really rack up the bonus 20K + extra ball.

One thing to keep in mind, is the bonus advance/subtract logic is controlled by a stepper unit located on the back-left underside of the playfield; a pain to get to but it almost always needs serious servicing, as it gets a LOT of heavy use during every game.

Artwork is a little wacky IMO, but you're not "playing" the artwork.

    #247 4 years ago

Thanks for all the replies. I've already gone though the superstar with help from @dfrazer. It now plays very well. It's a tired old machine, but fun. My kids enjoy it. I just started working on the volley. I'm my opinion, it's in amazing shape. Backglass is pretty much perfect, playfield is really nice. Inside is like new. I'll post more pics later. Thanks for all the feedback!

$60 Egghead. Not sure if it was even worth that. Will decide later if it’s a project, or parts machine. Legs are so rusted if I put them in Evaporust, they will disappear.
