Quoted from Mopar:

Well, I took a quick ride and the clock looks okay and works fine.
After studying the mechs a little bit, it looks like it should be a breeze
to set back up and back to ticking..
I'll be picking it up in the next 2 or 3 days..
I took a quick snap. Might there be any additional information anyone
may be able to offer about this particular model? 1799 Samuel Harper (T)[quoted image]

Any important markings would be on the mechanism, which is mounted and supported up behind the face. Look for stampings, imprints there of model or serial or other maker's marks. Many times, the cabinet/case maker was separate than the maker of the mechanism, and would have their own markings. (Which may or may not help in finding more info.)

Also, check out the NAWCC (National Association of Watch & Clock Collectors) forums here: https://mb.nawcc.org/
You WILL find folks there that would be able to tell you everything you could want to know.

Quoted from Phbooms:

Do not move the clock hands forward always do it backwards

Careful with this advice! It varies by mechanism! My unit for example, requires turning the hands forward or it will shear off the hour-chime stop.

..Ask me how I learned this.
