    Quoted from Flukebat:

Hey everybody, I'm new here and hoping to collect info on a restoration project. I picked up a 1947 United's Hawaii flipperless machine on eBay last week and I figured that the online community for this sort of thing would be a pretty strong resource. I plugged it in and was pleasantly surprised to find that it almost works! But it does have some issues. I'm going to start with cleaning it up and replacing the burnt out bulbs, missing inserts and rubber rings. Does anyone know what size the small inserts are? It seems like the best fit would be 5/8" but I'm not sure. Also I was thinking about replacing the bulbs with LEDs to use less power and expose the inserts and backglass paint to less heat...is that advisable? If so what size bulbs do I get? I'd really appreciate and info you guys can share! Thanks!

Welcome to pinside and Congrats on a Great Game!

    Quoted from RyanClaytor:

The playfield says the name of this game is "Big Shot," but I couldn't find it on IPDB. Looks purely mechanical so I'm guessing it is from the 30's.

Well, took almost as long but the guy called me out of the blue. I had asked a bunch of questions. Well, had a Day off and nabbed it!!!

Looks amazing its a 1936 Cali Exhibit Big Shot
    http://www.ipdb.org/machine.cgi?id=273
Ill add it to the pinside database now
    --Jeff

    Thanks Jeff!
I think there where two versions. Note the tilt mech is down by shooter lane on mine. I have the 5 ball version i believe, not the 1 ball payout, which is the IPDB you posted. My 3 bottom center lanes are marked with points. The payout version has some sort of revolving wheels, and unmarked bottom lanes.

    Quoted from way2wyrd:

Interesting the ipdb claims both the 5 ball and 1 ball for that entry. I dont know if there is/ should be a different entry for that.
Can you confirm the manufacturer on yours?

    Confirmed, same manufacturer.

Ive been carefully cleaning cab and playfield for 2 days. The paint is very thick and is holding up to polishing.

    #457 6 years ago

The dry cell batteries and wiring are creative, as you can see in pics previous page. Only the 2 lights for "OK" and "Tilt". 15volt total. During its day those would have lasted 10 plus years. Im leaving it untouched for history and Pin archeology.

    #458 6 years ago

The feed plunger and shooter knobs are wood, not metal. Never seen that before.

    Eric!!!

Congrats on the pick-up! So great to see all these pix, too, especially with such little documentation on IPDB.
PLEEEEEASE send pix to Jay at IPDB.

Sending pics later in week and uploading on pinside. Just want it cleaned up better.
By the way, Big Shot nice player, pretty fun.

Congrats! It's a super game, one of my favourite purely mechanicals up there with World's Series.
My copy is out being worked on at the moment.

I saw on pinside map there was one in Canada, guessing that was you.
We played it all night, fun when all 3 wheels move. Glass is off and doing cleaning on it today.
