RYAN Claytor Well you've done it...gone and driven me out of my lurker's cave and made me make a post on Spinside.
I just had to commend you publicly on your love of, and dedication to the flipperless pin world. These beauties are underappreciated and run the risk of being forgotten if it wasn't for the work of you and a handful of others.
Keep the faith Brothers!!
OH!! And go buy that Midget Racer!! Cool game...but aren't they all...

I would 100% buy that Midget Racer if it wasn't half way across the country! Love everything about it!

Ha-ha! I consider the fact that you posted anything here a personal victory. The fact your post contained some awfully nice words is icing on the cake. Thanks for post, Sean!
...you can even come back, you know.
Quoted from Matesamo:I would 100% buy that Midget Racer if it wasn't half way across the country! Love everything about it!
That price isn't bad. Cool lookin' game, for sure! Looks like it might be missing a lockdown bar, part of the backbox frame, and the glass has some pretty sizable scrapes.
...but, you know, motivation and some elbow grease can fix all that. COME VISIT MICHIGAN! It's...lovely(?)...this time of year. Regardless, thanks for posting in the flipperless thread, Matesamo. Good seein' you around these parts.

Now you're speaking my language. Nice looking Criss-Cross for a nice price.

1940 Genco "Powerhosue"
Despite the ad stating:
"Hi i have a 1933 pinball machine in great condition. Let me know wha you have I'm open to trades"
IPDB lists it as a 1940 production machine and it's hard to tell from the worst pictures ever, but it might actually be in decent shape(?). That blurry picture of a picture on a cell phone showing some of the backglass doesn't look half bad! In fact, the glass looks like it has retained more color than the photos on IPDB, which show a lot of white.

Hoping the rusty balls come with it! Wow, those are rough.

All three games, Home Tango, King Pin and Marjorie have rusty or rough looking pinballs. Hope they aren't playing these games. They might as well be using sandpaper on the playfield.

I was wondering how you are supposed to achieve the final "H" and "O" at the bottom of the playfield, but then noticed the two kick-out holes near the cowboy hat...which I THINK(?) kick the ball into those bottom two bumpers? If so, looks like a cool and challenging mechanic.

Fortunately I think Genco made 4 uprights if you don't like clowns. A friend once had them all and was starting to complete the Bally uprights. It was neat to see them all lined up together.

Nasco made a conversion games for many of these United titles...Mexico turned into Bazaar: http://www.ipdb.org/machine.cgi?id=2849
And many had interesting and unique toys added as part of the conversion...like the "spinning disk" on Bazaar. But they always jammed them into places that weren't really designed for it - like on Bazaar, they stuck it in an old kickout hole.
Check out the "compression bumper" on Madame Butterfly...and my finger! lol

Sean
I've been on a low-key lookout for a game with a compression bumper or two. Really neat.

Quoted from bingopodcast:I've been on a low-key lookout for a game with a compression bumper or two. Really neat.

Exhibit seemed to use them for a while...I wonder how they worked compared to POP bumpers...
And like an enigma, Sean "Finger Model" K reappears. Thanks for mentioning these points of interest, Sean! Very interesting about the compression bumper and spinning disk(?)...triangle(?).
Quick question on the compression bumper; is there a solenoid that draws it downward to sort of push out the springs...akin to a pop bumper? Or does it stay at rest and the ball just sort of careens off of its at-rest springiness?
Correct Nick! My finger IS the solenoid in that series of pics! There's two on the IPDB of the bumper, one at rest, the other "compressed".
Quoted from Stoomer:I wonder how they worked compared to POP bumpers...
I'm guessing not very well, or we would be talking about how hard it is to find pop bumper parts today.
My fascination with them is that they add a really unique visual element to the game, and I bet they change up the challenge of the typical passive bumper sequence. I'm excited to try/own one one day and find out for sure.

Hasn't happened yet, but I am starting to see a fair number of repeat listings. ...but I certainly didn't find those couple listed above.
From the Project Pin thread.
Quoted from Pecos:There aren't any secrets. I start out at a major city like Cleveland or Portland, scan all of the posts and then hop to nearby cities from the city drop-down box in CL. I try to start in sections of the country that I haven't visited for a day or two. Other than that it is just a lot of hard work to find the Project Pin gems less than $500 by viewing as many posts as possible in as short a time as possible. Sometime I can find three or four in half an hour and sometimes I won't find one after an hour of searching. If CL goes dry, I try eBay. I used to Google for "Craigslist project pinball" but have gotten out of the habit since I find so many in my regular searches. I can usually find a Project Pin in the Northeast, Florida or on the West Coast when having trouble finding Project Pins. Salt Lake City and Albuquerque are usually 'draino' so I feel for those of you in New Mexico and Utah.
Currently, I just highlight the first part of the Craigslist URL and type in another city to jump around to different parts of the country.
If this URL is in the URL box: "h-ttps://dallas.craigslist.org/search/sss?query=pinball"
I highlight "h-ttps://dallas"
with the mouse.
Then I type in a new city, like "Tucson" and press the enter button.
Tucson.craigslist.org/search/sss?query=pinball
I have been searching the Internet since 1995 so I have a bit of experience. I don't use search engines to find the pins I post here but if you are, here is an article that might help you weed out some of the noise:

Quoted from michiganpinball:Here is the BG and head art. Will put up the rest after I unload the body from the trailer.
Neat. Not a bad lookin' glass, especially for a conversion game. Usually I feel like those art packages are pretty sub par. Looking forward to seeing the playfield (and price ).

*suspense!!!*
So I was having a conversation with the guy who keeps your games and mine playing like a bunch of champs, Steve Young of Pinball Resource fame. We got on the topic of flipperless games and he told me about a BEAUTIFUL game he has. I asked him if I could post it here and he obliged. Here we go:
1940 Gottlieb "Summer Time"
You know as well as I do where and how to contact Steve (and for those new to the scene, his contact info is at the bottom of this page: http://pbresource.com/ ). He's willing to part with this gem for $650, no shipping, gotta pick it up. He also mentioned that it looks even better in personWHICH HOW CAN IT LOOK AT ALL THAT GORGEOUS IN TACT MIRRORING!!! *dies!!!*
P.S. Steve wasn't shy with the resolution, so give these pics a good click if you want to inspect.
Sooo...I'm guessing this is a 1935 Bally "Majestic"
...because it's certainly not from the 40's or 50's (as the ad suggests) and there's no pictures on IPDB:
http://www.ipdb.org/machine.cgi?id=4150
Gameplay looks crazy-difficult! ...like every scoring pocket is only accessible from the side, except for that 5000pt jampot that requires you to skate between those upper two holes. That's straight cray!
BTW, I just realized after staring at this thing for about 10 minutes straight that it is a nautical theme; playfield graphics show a big overhead shot of a ship, flanked by little metal ships for those 200 and 300 scoring pockets (perhaps life boats?). Also, does it really say S.O.L. near the drain (Sh!t Out of Luck!??! *LOL*), or is that a nautical term I'm not familiar with?
Regardless, enjoy your gander of another title not on the database:

The nautical term is short on landing which indeed would be shit out of luck
