A 1940's(?) Bally "Play Feature"

The ad heading says "Very Rare" and I'm actually inclined to believe them for once...as I couldn't even find a listing for it on IPDB:

It's a Bally Citation with an altered glass. Was talked about on the Bingo Forum a while back.
OMG...Just discovering this thread!
Love this old classic stuff!
Thank God, so far, all listings are to far from me.

1930's parts...those should be easy to come by.
Okay, here's another from the 30's, TRIGGIE(?):
So here's another item of interest, a 1940 Bally "Vacation"
There are no images or price on the c-list ad, but I contacted the seller, James, since he's sort of in my neck of the woods, and got some pictures and a price from him.
$500 firm.
It's not working, but a pretty cool lookin' game. I tried my diplomatic best to let him know that non-working flipperless games are a tough sell and that he's not likely to get his asking price. However, I also told him I'd try to help him by spreading the word. Here's hoping someone proves me wrong and saves this machine with an asking price. ...or does a better job of diplomatic haggling than I did. Here it is:
4369.jpg4381.jpg4383.jpg4371.jpg4363.jpg4379.jpg4377.jpg4367.jpg4375.jpg4373.jpg4365.jpg
Quoted from way2wyrd:I like that home run
Still available...albeit several states away.
Found a non working bingo in Barstow. Thing was trashed, 300, gone before i could call!
Still hoping for a nice one in so cal eventully.
The playfield says the name of this game is "Big Shot," but I couldn't find it on IPDB. Looks purely mechanical so I'm guessing it is from the 30's.
Any info on this one?
Ad says 1931 but IPDB says 1936. Regardless, it's a Rockola "Big Bank Nite"
...and it has no photographs on IPDB! (I messaged the seller to ask if he would great permission to post these photos on IPDB.)

I sure would like to know how that 'Banknite Bank' meter works. Does it work like a clock every time points are scored? The same goes for that Tilt mechanism.
The instructions look interesting too:
6 BALLS 5¢
ANY ONE LINE UP AND DOWN - 5 Skill Points
ANY ONE LINE ACROSS - 6 Skill Points
ANY ONE LINE LIKE THESE - 8 Skill Points (Diagonally)
3 STARS WIN BANK
1 REGISTER
2 WINNING NUMBER
3 PLAYER PRESENT
SCORE VOID IF TILTED
This game appears to be a lot more complicated than it looks at first glace. Very interesting!
Just looked at the price. WOW! I won't be buying this one anytime soon!
I didn’t see flippers or flipper buttons!
1960's Pinball Machine
The scoring counter does not work and it does not have flippers.
It has a 10 cent vend.

I've seen like 6 variations on this game. Never seen this one. It's probably 32 or 33 not 42

Ha-ha! Right. IPDB said '32, I corrected the listing here. Looks like a copy of Ballyhoo. I'm guessing that's why you've seen so many like it. But, hey, that listing is in your backyard, Jeff! Fort Worth!

Looks like it's a 1947 Exhibit "Cross Fire"
Man, were those flipperless Exhibit backglasses ever gorgeous. Seems like they were mandated to use every color of the rainbow. Haha! Love it.
Odd thing about that ad, tho, is they've posted screen shots of the pictures (!??!) instead of the actual pictures themselves.

So weird. As my homie Pecos would say, "Proceed with caution."
Ahhh, nice catch. Didn't notice that, just that they were bad pictures. That would be an awesome scam, talk about being after a very specific mark. Perhaps they figure someone coming after a flipperless for 600 would be less dangerous than somebody coming after a DMD for 1k???
Quoted from setzkor:That would be an awesome scam, talk about being after a very specific mark.
I thought about that, too. In all likelihood, its an older seller who couldn't find the folder for his photos. *shrugs*

In other news, a 1946 Genco "Spellbound"

No images in the ad, but I'll spare you the trip to IPDB:
At first I thought this 1932 Seeburg "Gold Coast":
spacecoast.craigslist.org link
...might be a repeat listing of this ebay ad I previously posted...
Quoted from RyanClaytor:Happy Saturday.
A neat old Seeburg table for your weekend:
ebay.com link » Pinball Machine Seeburg Antique Pin Table Vintage Mechanical Wood Rail Marble
...however, since they are at opposite ends of the East Coast (the former in Maine, the latter in Florida) I'll assume they are not duplicates.
Also, while that ebay listing I posted a while back has ended, it has been relisted here:
ebay.com link: PINBALL MACHINE Seeburg antique pin table vintage mechanical wood rail marble
...and currently sits at a 99cent bid.
Good luck meeting the reserve!
I'm guessing this ad:
Quoted from RyanClaytor:A 1939 Exhibit "Flash" is buried in this ad:

Wows, a couple things...
1) I think these photos are better than those on IPDB (to that end, I attempted to contact the seller...let's hope they take the same stance as the "Big Bank Nite" seller)
2) This looks like it has a similar mechanic as that Chicago Coin "Mars" listed on eBay a little while back that had us all salivating. In the backglass there's a pair of ducks (dux...ha!) that rotate into view. Bumpers score when birds are in view and turn off when not visible. So cool and theme appropriate. Additionally, from this picture of the backglass it appears to also (like "Mars") have a multi-tiered backglass(!!!)

Okay, I'm about to leave on a 4-day trip to go pick up a flipperless gem of my own. I'll report once I'm back, but all that to say...you might need to take care of this place in my absence.

Okay, I lied...and I'm addicted. One more before bed.
1937 Bally "Skipper":
This one looks VERY very clean, plug-and-play, and sports dual projection units(!!!). *drools* Looks like it's had an alternate color scheme painted on it's cab at some point, which I actually quite like.
It's true. The light/blue/grey goes with the backglass and playfield a lot more harmoniously than the original brick red. But peep those individually hand painted dots on the cab. Ha-ha! Those...I could do without. Nit-pick, nit-pick...here it be:

"Previous owner purchased it in Las Vegas around 1930.
The machine was used by her and her husband for approximately 8 years until her husband died. It then went into storage. I received it in 1972 and again it went into storage. It has been covered and stored since.
It has the original balls. The ball loader and plunger both work; the coin mechanism is able to be pushed in and pulled out to drop the balls with no coin. It was fixed this way for the elderly couple and believe it can be restored to its original operation requiring a coin of a nickle ($.05)
The red door in the front has a lock to access the change box, but the key that came with it does not open the access panel.
Don't know what battery is needed to operate the two tilt lights because I've never taken any part of it apart.
The unit is all wood with a glass top and has bolts to secure the legs to the body of the game machine. It's in good condition for its age.
Game Name: Big Shot
Approximate measurements:
2 feet wide
46 inches long from front to back
44 inches high at the far end
42 inches at the near (player) end"

It's better to just send a link to the ads to Jay at the IPDB. He has to contact them directly for permission to post the photos. Some folks will not give permission for various reasons while others are very happy to and will sometimes send other detailed photos to Jay.
