    Quoted from ZNET:

Glad to see that you got those Vermont Signals. Fantastic deal. Congratulations.

thank you for the tip! I haven't had time to test them yet. We were booted from our venue since the power grid was taken out by a tornado. The paint job and cast aluminum are beautiful on the senior, but I might keep the Junior because it's smaller.

Another one that needs saving, this time from Mr. Pinball:

    Show Girl, 1946 Williams
Barn find. Backglass is pretty nice. Playfield looks pretty good. Head looks good and solid. Rest of game OK condition. For parts or restoration.

    ...and another:
    ----------------------------------------------------------------------
    Ballyround, 1932 Bally: 650.00
Nice condition rare "Ballyround" round pinball machine. Bally tried, but the design didn't catch on. Playfield is an 8, all notice stickers are there. Ball lift mechanism works. Missing a small trim piece on the bottom.

I'm looking to add a flipperless to the collection at some point and although I didn't want one with a head, this might make a great match!

Just reserved a PAMCO Contact Master and a Bally Challenger, to be received later this year.

Can you believe this jerk would disparage one ball games? What's her problem?

    Quoted from cait001:

1 ball games seem so boring!

Out of curiosity, what changed your mind?

My initial comment was just uneducated glibness. But an opportunity presented itself and it might be fun to work on an odds reel.

I picked this up yesterday from Facebook marketplace. 1940 Baker Novelty Mfg "Line-Up". Anyone else have one of these? There is zero info about this game online. I've submitted pictures to ipdb.

Line-up is cool! I think those Baker games are interesting...never played or even seen one working. They only made a dozen or so pins from 39-41. I have a Salute in the project pile - some pics of it are here: https://www.ipdb.org/machine.cgi?id=2047

    Spellbound, 1946 Chicago Coin: 299
Pre-flipper game with flippers. Includes coin door (hard to find on these older machines). Backglass is rough but playfield is in great shape. Machine's parts are all there, just taken off machine. Great project to restore, or utilize it for all the parts. Needs a nice restoration. Have fun with this one. Alfred Hitchcock fans should appreciate this one. Prefer local pick-up but would assist w/ shipping. Best offers welcome or would trade.

Here's a beauty that just showed up on Facebook today!

    - --- ----- --- -
    Title: 1937 Pamco "Hi-De-Ho"
    Price: $750
Description: I have a Pacific Amusement Company Pinball Machine. It's a PAMCO Hi De Ho Pinball Machine. It is complete & in good condition. Unrestored but well cared for. I am unsure of the year but I believe it is between 1931 & 1937. I am looking to sell it. I have been told that the legs may not be original but everything else appears to be original.
    - --- ----- --- -

I chat with the seller today via Facebook and he seems awfully cool. He agreed to take additional pictures and send them to Jay at IPDB. I asked if I could post his email here and he said that would be fine:

    MosquitoRanch1 ~at~ aol ~dot~ com

He had a great story about finding the game and said that he would listen to offers! He's also open to trades for "newer" machines, as he was looking for something from 1970's or 1980's when this machine came his way, and is willing to add cash for the right deal.

C'mon! Someone in the south go save this gem, restore it to working order, and report back here to make the rest of us jealous!

Score subtraction, and payout to a hidden drawer. Don Hooker worked for PAMCO before moving to Bally. I've been on a low-key lookout for a PAMCO game for a while.

This one looks neat. Where is it located?

The metal legs kill it. But of course wooden ones could be added. The trick will be figuring out the correct style of leg. The ad helps. And hey - notice the other game on that ad. Looks like a roulette-style playfield with just about the same entrance as United's A-B-C.......... Hmmmmmmmmm!

Newbie here. This is up locally and I’m wondering about your assessment. Price seems a bit steep but condition looks good for an oldie. I’m relatively handy and not afraid of figuring out what might lurk under the hood, but...
Any suggestions? And anyone out there know this title?

    spokane.craigslist.org link

    #693 4 years ago

Price is very steep for that game, but it is in beautiful condition.

This is a one ball horse race game. Each coin played (up to four) gives a random flash and awards one or more "selections" (big number at bottom) and set of odds. The number of coins acts as a multiplier.

If you land the ball in a pocket with the same number as the selection, you win! The amount that you win is based on the odds shown.

I believe this game can pick any position for the four parts of the playfield - purse, show, place, win. Meaning: purse will be at one tier, show potentially another, place, a third, win potentially a fourth (those are the arrows above the odds with lines - the names are backlit if selected).

There are more rules, but the basics are above. There's quite a bit to these games.

I find these games to be a lot of fun and quite challenging. They are not the near-infinite complexity of a bingo, but they are very quick, fun games. There is a lot of drama involved in coining up - getting the game into a state in which you can have a big payout, then plunging and trying to knock the game in your favor. These are big, heavy games (mostly), and moving them takes a bit more oomph than a bingo or flipper game.

You only get -one shot- which is quite different from any other type of pinball. The build up is intense, and gauging your plunge and pushing the cab to win feels spectacular.

That backglass is the best I've seen in my short career looking for horse race glass images. Thanks for pointing it out, and happy to answer questions if you pick it up!

    #694 4 years ago

Very cool. Thanks a ton for the quick reply and all the background! I’ll post again if I decide to take the plunge...

is... is it just me or is this the most boring pre-war game? Only 3 things to shoot for... Am I missing something?

    #696 4 years ago
    Quoted from SilverLiningMan:

This is up locally and I’m wondering about your assessment.

the wording of the post shows he's already lowered his price. It's a beautiful looking machine, but the demand on a machine like that, a PROJECT machine like that no less, is very very low.
You might eventually be able to get it for $400

    #697 4 years ago
    Quoted from cait001:

is... is it just me or is this the most boring pre-war game? Only 3 things to shoot for... Am I missing something?

Judging by the point values, that left most shot must be near impossible. It looks like the game is essentially a skill shot. I can understand the suspense and satisfaction of achieving a really challenging skill shot, but I can't fully grasp why that left shot would be 10x as difficult as the right most shot, but perhaps we're both missing something. Ha-ha!
