I am looking for the rear access door latch/knob for a 1933 Star Lite if anyone can point me in the right direction. It is partially there but the knob and the inners are absent. Also a copy of the instruction card would be great. Thanks

Still looking for any info/insight on this pin http://www.ipdb.org/machine.cgi?id=2348 ! Also a source for parts would be great.

Got this off of eBay last week for 200 bucks. It's a rolldown pinball machine. You actually take the ball and roll it down the glass It doesn't hve metal legs. There is a wood skirt that wraps around the machine. It is in amazing shape. The woman had it since 1955image-686.jpgimage-476.jpgimage-520.jpgimage.jpg

Believe it or not, I just played one of those at another collector's house last weekend. Good find!

    #112 4 years ago

They called that a Wisconsin roll down cabinet. Made to circumvent some type of gambling law by removing the plunger. Which is odd because I thought the plunger made it a skill game? Anyway I wonder of this one has traveled that far or if other states also had those laws in place. Like NY with the AAB laws.

Yeah the woman was from Illinois. I just had it shipped. The only other rolldown machine I know of was called Wisconsin. I'm just dying to know how many of these were made. Mines 611,

Many people don't even know of these machines. I imagine if they did it would be really sought after.

    #114 4 years ago

I also read that since the ball was able to be controlled with your hand was the way the made it legal. They called it "ball in hand"

    Here's a Tropicana rolldown.

But $295 seems like a decent deal for an early countertop model game.

Interesting. What really caught my eye is the location. I was born there and that is where all of my earliest memories are from. I can't remember the last time I saw anything that mentioned East Moline!

EDIT: I contacted the owner, and I am having a blast confirming very old memories of things in East Moline, including the stuffed polar bear in the Holiday Inn that made such an impression on me as a little kid! Sometimes, the things the Internet makes possible are just amazing. He even knew the school where I went to kindergarten. (I'd completely forgotten the name: Ridgeview.)

Our town has a thread on facebook "Remember when in "your town". They talk about the old days - different businesses, memories, etc., with lots of pics. Don't know if the Quad Cities area has anything like that....
