Without real evidence, you really shouldn't continue to spread a rumour that attacks Pat Lawlor's credibility. He's one of the gods of pinball design and would have no reason to be jealous of anyone. He created TZ and TAF ffs. . . . and Whirlwind, and Banzai Run, and Earthshaker, and, and, and. The man has nothing to be jealous about.

it just plays smoother or something. The restored one had new everything, ramps, plated wireform, etc.. Maybe the repro ramps threw things off. It could very well be the thicker ramps. I've noticed on other games that thicker ramps post problems. I had to make a bunch of changes on whirlwind repro ramps. The comet corkscrew repro ramp needed adjusting as well.

If fuses check out and the above procedures don't work, you might check your power supply. Check for voltage at your display connectors. My Whirlwind displays went out suddenly a few weeks ago and it was the high voltage area of the board. I ended up just getting a new Rottendog power supply because it was the same price as getting the old power supply fixed.

I regretted selling LOTR and Whirlwind. I sold my LOTR just to change up the lineup. Missed it immediately, so went on the hunt. Found a HUO machine about 3 weeks later. As for Whirlwind, I just didn’t give it enough time. Sold it before I even shopped it, which is very rare. Realized later that I really liked to play it, so went on the hunt. Took me 5-6 years to find another in great condition that wasn’t astronomically priced. Shopping it now!

Whirlwind have been sitting at more than 3.5 unsold, the ones that have been selling are closer to 3k. Same with Elvira, tons of them listed for high 3s but even at low 3s they haven’t been moving. Perhaps he was thinking WW meant White Water (WH2O) and not Whirlwind (The real WW)? Thats the only reason i can see for that comment. Nice job on the Taxi OP, GLWT.

Easter Egg during Fast Lock. For Whirlwind, I think Close ... it's from Earthshaker Quotes from older Pat Lawlor pins are heard during "Fast Lock": The Addams Family: Cousin It blabbing. Hitting lock: Cousin It: "Aaaah!". Funhouse: "Hey, it´s only pinball!". Hitting lock: Rudy: "Gulp...ptooey!". Whirlwind: "Return to your homes!". Hitting lock: "Do not panic". Earthshaker: "It´s sunny drive time!". Hitting lock: "Ooh, Gimme shelter!". Banzai Run: "Welcome race fans!". Hitting lock: "Go for the hill!".

Maybe you should fix it then sell it. weird comment but since you brought it up, house destroyed in tornado, my temp housing has room for 1 pin and that is currently a project white water that will take some time and I have 4 others before this one that are going in my game room when new house is ready so this one will not get touched for at least a year or more. Only got it because it was in a package deal with whirlwind.

Mechanical Finger in Dike? Post #1 in topic

Posted 35 days ago by DakotaMike – in Tech: Generic ‐ Last reply 35 days ago

I know there's a joke in here somewhere, but what the heck is a "mechanical finger in dike"? Whatever it is, it's so special that Jack Skalon got special credit for it on Whirlwind's PF. I asked in the WW owner's thread, but didn't get a response yet, so I thought that I'd cast a wider net in case anyone else knows. I've racked my brain and tried a google search, but all I get are Little Dutchboy results![att=5617789,1969422 caption=""]

Flippers light up flashers? Post #1 in topic

Posted 38 days ago by oropuro – in Tech: Alpha-numeric ‐ Last reply 34 days ago

Hey pinside, I’m looking for some advice/help; I am working on my re-import whirlwind and everything was working well for the most part, but now my clippers have lost a lot of strength and when I flip them the flashers on the ramp light up? If I hold the button they get brighter, I’m guessing I have some crossover with the wires, but any advice would be appreciated!

It's funny seeing all the whirlwind. It is the first one that popped into my head. Just over a year ago I picked up a beautiful restored whirlwind. It was in my garage and I had just picked up a bunch of games to flip. Every person asked about that game that came in. Someone offered 4500 and I was tempted. That night it went to the basement where no one gets to go.

Pretty happy with our collection of games: 1) Lord of the Rings (Deep ruleset, super fast and with wide open outlanes) 2) Twilight Zone (Best of the Superpins if you ask me) 3) Shadow (A killer, ball times between 10s and a minute most of the times) 4) Whirlwind (Same as Shadow but now as a System 11 lol) 5) Cyclone (The one that falls out of the top 4, but still a classic!) Ofcourse this is my opinion:)
