Took several weeks to get back to working on volley, but I found and fixed the faulty switch. It was the far-right yellow drop target switch that was closed and needed to be open when the target is fully up or fully down. After cleaning all 15 drop targets and confirming the switches are functioning correctly, Volley is working nicely! [att=8010428,3758112 caption=""] Switches on the yellow drop bank are not readily visible when the playfield is leaned against the backbox.

Volley is operational and looks really good. But it is adding 5,000 points almost continuously. So far I have checked all the 500/5000 roll over switches, most relay contacts twice and the switches behind the rubber rings, but nothing bad yet. Still need to get into the score motor switch stacks, seems they have some function between 500 or 5000 point scoring according to the schematics. And going to try disconnection various jones plugs one at a time.

So you are happy with your slings? Besides the physical design that lead to the volley lobbing out of the box. But why don't you ask JJP why they use 20v coils for slings when there is plenty of space left in their design for 70v coils? There is literally 16 open 70V coil drivers in TS4.(and 18 in GNR) Unlike your postulate, no one is building games with the wrong coils on the line differently from what they designed for.

I lost interest in pins for a while, particularly when vids starting coming into arcades, Pac-Man, asteroids, defender, etc. got bit again in the early 2000s when I saw a tspp in a rehobeth beach arcade and had to have one being a huge Simpsons fan. Playing in tournaments in SC, GA, and FL I experience great collections of weirdo classic titles from every manufacturer and I would never come to love titles like Volley and Stars without tournaments.

Rebuilding Bally Drop Target Assemblies - Any advice for simplicity? Post #6 in topic

It’s been awhile but I used screws and nuts purchased at Ace to hold the switches together and “dental tools” purchased at Harbor Freight. That was for Gottlieb Volley which I had to perform on 3 separate banks. Completely removed banks while leaving switches. Didn’t enjoy it much. It was the springs that sucked. Pictures are also a good idea

For me it's 1976 Volley, hands down. I love drop target games. Joker Poker, Cleopatra, Count-Down, et al. But the oldest one that I love the most has got to be Volley. Paragon One of the best games ever made. I just had mine restored. New playfield, backglass, plastics, posts, rubbers, etc. If this is how the game played brand new, holy cow.
