  I recently purchased a Whirlwind and someone suggested that my shooter rod spring was worn out. Having had a some games with a purposely weak spring, like TZ, I assumed it was supposed to be this way. A friend recommended getting a red spring to make the skill shot possible. Wow, what a difference it makes. It's like a whole new game!

  Just took Superbands off my TZ after about a month of playing it everyday.   I have a problem with TZ door panel lights. [att=1197923,287431] (symbolic picture) The lights in the column I marked with red on the (symbolic) picture are not working. I replaced them with new, but it's the same. The weird thing is that the lights begin to work for a period of time and then I lose'em again. Anyone knows what it could be?

  Although this may sound anal... i believe this is the right place for such a question :) Has anyone considered painting the hands on their TZ clock to another color other than black? e.g. red for minute hand, blue for hour hand... With the white or quartered/coloured clock face black hands look good, nice contrast, but it doesn't stand out too much. When the hour hand lines up with an opto it makes it harder to see which hand's which. Open to opinions.

  I don't know why there is a resistor soldered to it. I looked at my TZ and the buy in lamp has a diode (which I what I expected to find). Not sure what is going on here. It looks as though the resistor is factory installed. I know that the white/red and green/white wires are for the switch and that is working correctly.

  Just my 2 cents here - I just bought a TZ from Mirco a few weeks ago - super nice guy, easy transaction - and for some reason UPS delivered it to me here in CA superfast - the final point being - the new playfield I got is terrific - the colors are very nice, the red burst is great, and the final coat is terrific. Now, I've got to sack up and go for the playfield swap! Thanks Mirco!

  since I restore playfields, I see lots of variations in TZ's. Some are due to fade, some are printed that way. I've seen at least 4 versions of that red. Some are red red, some are orangish red, some are pink. and some are just faded versions of the others. I've restored at least 20 TZ playfields in my time, so i've seen them all. Sample fields (pop posts and 3rd magnet) , Early production (with post plugs), and full later revised production versions.

  My installed original TZ playfield is pinkish, and the used original playfield I just got clearcoated is dark red. I think I prefer the red, but I might change my mind if I saw one installed. Edit: My original playfield also has a green lock (but no third magnet hole) - I hope some day to get it professionally touched up and restored!

  Here is a pic of my tz and ngg. The ngg has a mix of 4 led pbl and cointaker frost. Inserts have a mix of pbl 1 led to 3 led. And the tz has pbl 4 led red and blue for the gi and a mix of 1 to 4 led in the inserts. I feel like I should be wearing red/blue 3D glasses to play your TZ. ;-)

  update...I changed my Blacks to White/Red on my /tz today, and MAN...like a new game....I'm guessing i was way overdue on a change, but sticking w/ Factory in the future....had no idea how "Brittle" the blacks had become, especially on the flippers!!!   FYI, I bought my CV with the more rounded door (the one with the red coin reject inserts), not the typical squared WMS/Bally door that you referenced in your second picture. Chris I know someone who has a HUO TZ that he originally bought brand new, and it has the rounded red inserts coin door.

  I know that an Addams Family mat was made with purple writing and with gold writing. I also know that a Terminator 2 was made with the writing in red. I personally have the TAF in purple, TZ, and T2. They were offered on eBay several years ago. I going to say there were at least a dozen titles available. They typically sold for $20 to $30 if I remember correctly. I remember the seller taking them down because of copyright issues.

  i like it. I almost want to buy one, even tho I don't own TZ anymore. But I will again someday. Love the red one. Wish Terry would make LED's that color change in a certain color scheme. Like red, orange, yellow for fire stuff. Green, blue, aqua, for water effects. Some purple, blue, reds for misc other spaces. That would be awesome.

  I had my planking TZ touched up and cleared a couple years ago. Yes, it's as smooth as glass now. Interestingly, CaptainNeo did the work. Here's a couple of before and after pictures.   My TZ also has a red number like that. I think my Whitewater also. May be added somewhere, by the manufacturer of the playfield, on WMS assembly line, .. Doesn't add value to your game :) Usually I remove all these markings when I shop a game.

  If you are talking about a Lawlor game such as Funhouse or TZ, it is double sided tape without the backing removed. Similar to 3M's mounting tape. Only thing is 3M's tape has a red back instead of the green back used on WMS games.

  I own all three TZ, HS2, and Tron. If I could only have two pins, and I was choosing from these three, I'd choose TZ and Tron. HS2 is a great game, but it is a different kind of challenge. Red Line Mania is easy to get to. You're basically playing for points or fun, there isn't really any challenge to "beating" the game. The Super Jackpot animation/sound is quite awesome, though.

I'm saying that I assume breaking judge dredd to fix Tz isn't acceptable. To me this determines you need to either replace or repair the CPU ... swap both. Swap that and see if the region error clears up. If not the red jumper panel to the left is the region jumpers.

  When you guys are talking about using the concave single LEDs for GI, are you talking about playfield GI? I was planning on ordering some in red and blue for my Pinbot. I had tried colored incandescents, but they were too dim. Yes.   Thats weird is the clear protector in tact over the vortex? I have a red spring in mine right now but I think it calls for the blue medium and red is way too much. I think a TZ spring would be way too soft for this. My playfield is even cleared and I dont encounter this too much.

  My TZ has a functional clock currently that was fixed by Rob Anthony prior to be acquiring the ... board replacement clockworks.   Also check below the apron if its says Lenc Smith somewhere. Wms had 3 companies supplying pfs. SunProcess developed DP and LencSmith their alternative. DP was better and their pfs have the logo. LS pfs have clearcoat but no logo and are sometimes of less quality. Bsd and WW pfs from LS ie.. CCC not only made cabinets but also pfs like for tz. These different manufacturers also explain color differences like hot pink version of cftbl and pink/red tz.
