  No one is surprised, there was some insider info leaked awhile that suggested the franchise was problematic just because the name had "men" in it. I kid you not. I fully expect the male characters to get the Luke Skywalker treatment. I'm out. IMO it was a lazy uninspired idea to begin with Xmen 97... I'll never do the "they them". Either you are XX or XY. Simple science. I'll go back & watch the original series & Silver Surfer which was really good IMO.

  Exactly. Surf Champ comes to mind. I had the two player version Surfer and couldn't get rid of it fast enough. King not so Kool also checks boxes for me. Not only spinners to nowhere, but four flippers where I wouldn't even want to play it with just two. [att=7915480,3686087 caption=""]

  Interesting, when did you get yours? I know a collector who is still in wait mode and problems with obtaining high quality materials has been known for some time. Yep, thanks for articulating much better than me and shining a light on the current PF build environment. And as I understand it he has all the surfer/surf champ pfs, he just needs to correct some stuff and complete the orders.

  Hey on that change I'm with you 100% no idea what those parents were thinking and seeing the results now and I sure hope they are not shocked. A lot of the music from the 90s reflected it well. Have you ever heard so much whining in your life? But as a mechanic and a surfer, I had to deal with them first hand, so I'm not making this up. But, some of my best friends now are from that era as well and they were not spoiled as such.

  Now THAT's a cool pic ! Archetypical mid-late 70ies-Style when Pinball was everywhere ... just like the young folks in their pick-ups near the end of "Smokey and the Bandit".   To me it makes perfect sense to do a comic based fantastic four pin right on the release of the fantastic four movie in 2025. The timing lines up and they could include silver surfer, dr doom, and galactus as the main boss. Zombie Yeti would crush this art package and it would be his "fourth" marvel pin! It is too perfect not to happen!!!

  He is finishing Surf Champ/Surfer and he is also redoing a few Strange Worlds. After that, Im not sure what he has planned. I do know there has been some supply issues as far new regulations has changed some of the paints/clears he uses. Some of the wood has also changed and not up to Wades standards, so he was looking for new/better wood supply.

  “comedy pins” are way too had to pull off for a mass audience. It’s simply way too easy to fall flat on your face Agree. Too many companies taking creative liberties and falling a bit flat.   Board is finished. It will get shipped out along with Surfer/Surf Champ at a later date. I’m going to install it like it is, maybe have Ron Kruzman clear coat it. Colors of the plastics and pops should make it look pretty cool. Just have to find the machine…….. With shipping, believe his playfields are now in the $900 range.

  Thanks Mark. I have a 24 volt bulb that fits in a 44 socket. I bought some for the special light on surfer which often receives 24 volts. I will post results by tomorrow.

  Is he close to shipping? Wasn’t too concerned about timing since I don’t even own the machine yet, just wanted to secure a playfield. Believe he mentioned that Strange World was delaying things and that Surfer / Surf Champ was a couple months away from completion. He did mention Jet Spin.

  Hi @stashyboy - I was using snippets from a Surfer schematic. I think at this point in the mid to late 70's, the rotating p.u. disc was the same...the p.u. doesn't have to do as much since there are only 2 players, so it would have fewer switches on the stacks, but, looking at the schematic, it has to move the same number of positions. So I think everything applies. If I'm wrong, someone will let me know. Sadly, I don't have a Surfer here at home to test theories out on...it's a good game!

  The op sez it's Surfer, the two player version, so that may change things in your discussion since 2 player player units are a different breed from the 4 player Surf Champ in this case.

  Nope... Surfer/SurfChamp is the next Wade tittle. He still has some StrangeWorld pf's left. My humble opinion, these games have too low a production base to ever have a chance at getting reproduced. Best option is to pull your pf out and send it to a profesional.

  Fireball is 100% on that list. As for the number 2 I'd go between Hot Tip, Abra Cadabra, Surfer, Sure Shot, and Jungle Queen... of course my views are heavily limited by what is available to play locally and what others have been kind enough to bring to shows. I seek out Sure Shot at every pinball show. Jungle Queen/Princess taught me that just because you can blow up a Stern, it doesn't mean you can blow up an E.M. Humbling experience at my First Allentown Tournament last year.
