Best spot on a pinball machine to get signature? Post #26 in topic

Posted over 6 years ago by NYP – in All Pinball ‐ Last reply over 6 years ago

While watching Pawn Stars one day they were discussing that Stan Lee's signature was so common that some collectors felt it de-valued the comic book. I'm pretty sure I'm going with the translite, seems like the best place to me. It's hard to take Levi seriously about signing the middle of the playfield and personally I would never buy a machine with a signature on the middle of the playfield, unless of course it was signed by Levi. I was considering signing the cabinet somewhere, for about a minute.

JJP Pirates SE VS LE questions Post #8 in topic

Posted over 7 years ago by DaveH – in Jersey Jack Pinball ‐ Last reply over 7 years ago

It’s the GI that I think is worth it. On the LE and above it is color changing GI. That was a great feature of WOZ. So to me that puts the LE over the top. The spinning guy on the pop, and the stars don’t mean much to me. But mode matching GI does. Go for the LE. And for the record, I like the stainless better. But I’d still go LE for GI.

Looks like really after adding the invisiglass and shaker, it's about a $500 difference. The rest of features are purely cosmetic then. I'm curious about the stars as well. Powder coating legs I'm guessing is about $150? The molded Coral and pirate probably are able to get added from mods I'm guessing. My jjp games have been solid with zero issues in over two years.

Which JJP POTC are you going to buy? Post #14 in topic

Posted over 7 years ago by Crile1 – in All Pinball ‐ Last reply over 5 years ago

I actually think this will be the first time we see a lot of people going for the SE with a JJP. I think they are hitting the price ceiling. Shaker, glass, stars, powder coating, and spinning random pirate...I think the value is there for the upgrade (unlike the jump to CE), but $9500 is a big pill to swallow. Plus, as a Hobbit owner, seeing $8500 price dwindle to $6,000 to 6500 on the secondary market makes me a little more cautious.

Is anyone else disappointed that the side rails on the LE don't light up during Hyper Space? If I knew that I would of went with the Premium, much better artwork. No.1 rule buying NIB make sure you read the feature matrix. It also wouldn't make much sense if they lit up during lightspeed modes, as the rails are designed to look like the Millennium Falcons interior metal work, not that of the stars being warped jumping to lightspeed, although that would have a been a cool feature to have.

In Escape From New York there is a very old pinball machine in the room where the president was held. It has stars on the side and can be seen when Brain frees the president. Best I can tell, it might be this one with a repainted cabinet, but not sure. [att=3984485,1071687 caption="image-4 (1) (resized).jpg"]

Removing star rollovers Post #1 in topic

Posted over 7 years ago by trilogybeer – in Playfield restoration ‐ Last reply over 7 years ago

Removing star rollovers from a playfield that has been clearcoated can be a pain . But at times they do need replacing ( they can become brittle and the tabs that hold the stars in can break) . This bit worked out nicely ,Milwaukee shockwave impact hole saw( size 1 and 1/8 inch ) [att=3977083,1067628 caption="20170919_234154 (resized).jpg"][att=3977083,1067630 caption="20170919_234225 (resized).jpg"]

Are The Aliens Real? Post #139 in topic

Posted over 7 years ago by flashinstinct – in Generally off-topic ‐ Last reply over 6 years ago

I find it hard to believe that we are the only form of intelligence out there (excluding NK dictators and "fire and fury folks"). Mathematically speaking with 10 billion galaxies comprised of 100 billion + stars, people that think we are the only ones out there would fail math class. So do I believe in Aliens....absolutely, maybe not the small green ones flying in saucers, but are their other forms of life out there...it would be highly unlikely that we are alone in the universe.

Posted over 7 years ago by Frippertron – in Generally off-topic ‐ Last reply over 6 years ago

There is a pretty interesting theory I read a while back, I have to find a link. It's a mathematical equation that basically says with the amount of planets that are revolving around all the stars in our galaxy that meet a distance and temperature threshold similar to ours and if just 1% of those had life, there would be a minimum of 40,000 planets with life in our galaxy. Interesting stuff.
