I've got yet another question about yoppsicles on FG; I know they're not good for GI lighting but I'm wondering about under the roll-over stars on the upper pf? Are these lit the same as the rest of the GI, they seem to each have their own return wire?

I had the same problem with my Stars. Unfortunately I threw out the broken one and its mate that was still good. That’s because I added a 90s style Bally Williams to both which seem better than the original. Something to consider if you can’t find this part.

After seeing that "Violent Night " was the #1 Christmas movie on a bunch of newscasters lists, I finally watched it. OMG was it great. A family movie (as long as your kids are over 10), with over the top action, that you will watch every year. "Gloriously Dumb" would best describe it. Tell your wife it stars a leather clad David Harbor as Santa. She'll instantly cue up Amazon. [att=7933325,3699527 caption=""]

2" flipper games are designed to relieve you of your funds in 3 minutes or less. Mine are designed to relieve my friends of their funds in the shortest amount of time. Aint got time for no bonus ladders or any of that. Hypocritically speaking, I do have a 1978 Stern Stars and its bonus chimes play a nice little tune at the end of each ball.

It's always self-indulgence with any award, an industry awarding itself and hoping other people will care. Or guilt, like the Nobel Prize "Oh crap my invention killed millions!" Michelin Stars was a rare example of one industry (tires) rating another (food). Fun fact the stars indicate how far it's worth it to drive to the restaurant.

Can anyone tell me when during a Stars game does the game Knock? I had been searching for a classic stern knocker assembly (Missing from mine) and finally found one, Installed it. Tested the knocker is operational in the solenoid test. I would have assumed the game would give a knock when a special is achieved and that does not seem to be the case, I am yet to make a Match/Game end occur to verify if a knock happens then.

OT, but I have always wondered why the tournament people want to cripple the games. If the rules allow extra balls, then why would they need to be disabled? No need to start flame war on this Time constraints mostly. I like the early SS games that I've modded to only give 1 EB per 'real' ball in play (so max 3) - especially on games like Stars where it's not lasting long anyway.

Well, they sometimes used whatever they had laying around when they made these. Yellow and tan are close enough, just like brown and tan. Pink and white. That’s what I was thinking too. Process of elimination. I did find a couple pictures from the Stars thread and those were yet another contradiction but as you say…they use what they had I suppose. I’m basically rebuilding everything and plugging things in one at a time to test and so far all the GI is lit.

I think the Gottlieb drops are a superior design when compared to the Bally/ Stern drop targets. There are less moving parts. I bought Gottlieb drops for my quicksilver build for this reason, and for the fact they were available and really cheap too! I want to put Swinks targets in my Stars and I was hoping to put them in my QS as well, but I doubt there’s much of a market for printing stern targets that fit in a Gottlieb mech.

I know there’s a lot of locals in here looking for a Stars. One just popped up on pinside for $2000 looks like new boards and nice playfield. Cabinet seems “good enough”. Downside is it’s in TN but seller is willing to ship. I don’t know the seller nor have any connection to this sale. Just saw it come through.

I feel a bit behind here BUT I’ve been keeping busy on Stars. Not a lot to post since it’s all tedious work of fastening in screws for lights ... I spent the day assembling the top of Knock Out. This year it will probably be Stars. [att=7879286,3656491 caption=""][att=7879286,3656490 caption=""] Super Score stencils arrived today. Since my ...

There seems to be an extra level of hate for Swift that I don't remember older generations having for younger popular pop stars before. Or maybe it's just now my friends are the older generation that's whining and this is my first experience with this end of it! I don't hate her at all. She seems a major cut above the other pop stars who turn into skanks and get caught doing stupid shit, sex tapes, puss showing in public, rehab etc. Raised my 20 something daughter on rock & roll music every day. Thank God.

I feel like a lot of you guys are Midwesterners, maybe I'm mistaken? One thing about Midwesterners, they'll throw a couple pins in a trailer and hit the road... Seriously, I think that Gorgarmagedon deal just made me want that with better pins. And this is a group where if there was an annual thing, I could literally see assigning a resto the next year and five people showing up with gorgeous Stars or whatever....

I mentally can’t justify spending $7k-$10k on a pinball toy for my basement. So I have accepted that I need to buy EMs and older solid state machines, and these usually are broke. I’m ready for the old used stuff to start coming down in price. Things like Stars and Pinbot are still double in price. It’s Stars! Always has, always will be! You haven't put much time on my Nine Ball yet have you? Actually, I can't see how it was even playable the way they installed the flipper lane guides at the factory. It took drilling new holes and a set of slightly shorter ones from a doner Stars playfield I had on hand. All better now. But yeah, these two. Tourists like the other ones as well. So do we.[att=7877301,3654955 caption=""]

...I’m not talking about all the rare ultra trendy games such as Quicksilver and Stargazer, but accessible games... Big Game is fantastic. F2k is not my favorite and kind of a cramped space. Stars is wide open and easily the best MPU100. Meteor is pretty easy to find and checks all the boxes as well.

I mean.. it is a mode that few would even reach TBH.. I wouldn't factor it into a purchase decision unless you play like Karl . I've gotten to plenty of wizard modes but haven't played GF enough to know if it's possible for me. Would like it to be coded in when I own the game just in case the stars align for me.

Right that must be why I never heard of them until a couple years ago. They became more famous on KROQ with another song that was terrible in about 1980. That movie is absolutely god awful!!! But look at the stars that were in it! If you want to see even more stars watch The Towering Inferno.

I do 8 coats normally, if the last comes out perfect. I had a jig made to cover the stars, but I only have 6 of them left so sometimes I use the white stars, but I still have to remove the clear out of there. they dont mask all of it. especially at the ends of the arms, and the inside crotch of the star arms. I remove the clear when the pfs come in, and I test and remove the clear, before I ship in case my clear builds up.
