  Every pinball machine has a battery that should be changed. Including the Funhouse you just got. I send MPU boards out for NVRAM. Funhouse no battery needed Rollercoaster Tycoon no battery needed. Slugfest no battery needed. Southpart no Battery needed. Dale Jr boards were sent out the day we got the game.

  I believe switches, solenoids, lamps, flashers and GI are ultimately controlled by the CPU. On my Slugfest, I have a number of things not working. Bat, Lamps Column 1 & 4, Lamps Row 1 &4 and GI Feed 3. After ... back and BOP was fine again. For some reason, I didn't put the BOP CPU into Slugfest. I'm good with schematics but lost with the terminology and areas around CPU J211 and U9 ...

  My buddy that hosts tourneys has a nice Spy Hunter that we all enjoy playing and it was picked frequently during the state championship. For me, the fastest to go was SlugFest. I got it in a package deal with TZ, and forgot I was negotiating for both. I shopped it out and took it to a show to move it along to make room to start the TZ shop out.

  So the original Slugfest cabinet corners have a wood brace and a metal brace that the leg bolts screw into. The metal brace isn’t very big. I decided if I were going to fix it, I would use one of the sturdier cabinet brackets. [att=7945531,3709888 caption=""]

  Gotcha. I have a slugfest too and would love to restore my cabinet. It’s faded and needs some other minor work. Yet, if I could get a new one for a reasonable price, I might have considered it. But $2k is more than I’m willing to spend. Shame, as it’s such a fun game, especially for casual players.

  I have a friend who gets WPC cabinets made quite regularly. I asked him about a Slugfest cabinet and because it’s a totally different shape than a pin, it would be a custom job. It would have been about $2000…that’s a huge hit to the Slugfest restoration budget. Because it would be months to get it done anyway, I decided to start by repairing the damaged cabinet corner.

  I bought a slugfest a few months ago and really love the game. I have a few other games and like to install invisiglass on all of them. Is it possible to 1) reach out to the company directly and request a custom cut or 2) buy a wide body invisiglass and then go to home Depot and have them cut it? I thought the glass was specially treated and didn't know if cutting it would damage whatever magic they put on there. Thoughts?

  On to the Slugfest playfield. The playfield pivots up on 2 brackets that hinge on 2 posts in the cabinet. Follow the playfield harness to the boards in the back of the cabinet and disconnect all the connectors. The playfield then lifts straight up and out.   The big problem with Slugfest seems to be the batting mechanism....not the greatest design and often slopped out. Here's one rebuilt with an actual bearing on the slotted part and also bearings/bushings on the other hinge points. [att=7733401,3534232 caption=""]

  I'm experience a problem with my 50's model Williams Slugfest mechanical pinball machine. Upon starting it by pressing in the coin mechanism I get a loud sound then it goes to TILT and turns itself off. ????? Can anybody give me some advice as to where to begin troubleshooting this?   I have a pretty nice Slugfest and thought it was playing great. I happened to play another example and the fastball pitch speed was much faster. Is there an adjustment that affects this? Any help would be appreciated.

  SlugFest came with a baseball card dispenser. Other games, going back to EM days, could get a card dispenser added. I played a Paul Bunyan on location in the 90's with one, when baseball cards were essentially worthless. It was still cool to win that worthless card. Never know who you might get.
