  Parts is parts, and now we have built from scratches too... Yup. I have built a Quicksilver from scratch plus resurrected Seawitch, Fathom, Flash Gordon from nothing but bare factory playfields with a Trek, Nitro, Silverball and Skateball in the future pipe.   My honest, first opinion of the game was, "that playfield is really pretty, but man, it just looks so BORING!" You see, I'm a huge fan of ramps and habitrails in pinball. So when I saw this, it just didn't click with me. A lot of the SS classics get overlooked because of this. If you haven't already, give games like #centaur , #eight-ball-deluxe , and #skateball a try. I recently played #nine-ball for the first time and am obsessed with it.

  In every one of his YouTube shows I’ve seen filmed in that office, I was disappointed to never see the Skateball actually turned on. I have seen some video with Mike V in his Mike’s home and he was playing an Evel Knievel machine. Steve Caballero apparently has an original 720* arcade game… he got it for consulting on the game development, or something like that

  Tony is into pinball! I remember reading a interview with him in the 90s and they asked what he was into other than skating? His one word reply was “pinball”. Also in his recent documentary Tony Hawk: Until the Wheels Fall Off he talks about getting his first credit card or pay cheque from Powell Peralta and the first thing he bought was a pinball machine! I also seen a short interview of him talking in his office and he has a Skateball in the corner. Be rad if they did this and executed it properly!!

  I don’t mind waiting a little longer for work that is done the right way. I have a Centigrade 37 from Wade and it was great work. Hoping Canada Dry gets added to the pipeline. I ordered 2 playfields from CPR for my Skateball and Viking and both were absolute shite right out of the box. Playfield clear coat was all wavy and looks like the grain was lifting. I’ll never order from CPR again.

  I know the displays are in a standard location. Be careful, not all Ballys have the displays in the same position. I had my Skateball backglass temporarily in another game (Medusa?) and the player displays were offset one digit.

  Hi, unfortunately i sold both my Skateballs over the summer, but there is a seller on Ebay that fabricates those light panels, although, it doesn't look like they make a Skateball light panel, i am sure they could fabricate one and get you pretty close to what you need, the sellers name is Theresastuff, just thought i would pass that info along

  Need a little help. Have a project Skateball that I had to replace the head on. I replaced it with a Future Spa head and now I need to make backbox lamp board (the white board behind the backglass). I know the displays are in a standard location. Could some nice person take a few pics and maybe hold up a yard stick (or Meter stick) so I can get light baffle and lamp locations? Any help is appreciated.

  Fixed. I installed my previous Power Play Proms. The board booted and I was able to advance beyond self test into the bookkeeping/audit settings. From inside there I reset everything to 0. Then I installed the Skateball Proms and was able to go into audits and advance through setting my score thresholds, replay, and sound settings. This probably worked because Power Play was a -17 game that didn't use those higher audits nor check them.

  What if I put my Power Play Roms back in??? I may be able to erase the scores from inside there. I'll try that, @quench , This worked! With Power Play Roms installed I was able to get the game up and advance into bookkeeping setting. From inside there I advanced through and reset everything back to 0. Then I reinstalled Skateball Proms and was able to advance into the audit settings and set my replay score thresholds, and sound options.

  Oh, that's not code, it's data. $09, $09, $09, $09, $09, $09, $00, $09 '99999909' Haven't checked what the first $09 on the right is for but the remainder leaves "9999990". The previous gen -35 OS has something like this where that data is used as a reference threshold score to test against if the player has rolled their score over. However Xenon, Skateball and Frontier which use this -40 OS do not reference that code at all... They instead jump out and handle it in the U2 game ROM.

  First gen analog sound board. First game was Lost World, others were, Playboy, 6MDM, SST, Star Trek, Kiss, Paragon, Dolly, Harlem, and Rolling Stones was the last. Bally didn't start adding a volume pot to the door until a few games later. I'm working on a Skateball and it does not have a front door volume pot.

  Did you check your unregulated 5v input voltage at the SD board TP-5? That should be around 13-14v DC. I'm working on my own Skateball with a similar problem. Measuring 13v at the rectifier board but no voltage at the TP5. That's most likely a bad connector or cold pin.

  My buddy has been storing my Skateball in his basement for a few years and now needs the space. I was planning on doing a full restore, my first, but don't currently have the space. The cabinet could be saved but without the space now I plan on just breaking it down and taking everything but the cabinet and head. I'm looking for any tips on the process or weird tools I should bring. Thanks!

  I have a skateball issue I can't figure out. the flippers r all weak, when I hit the buttons they dim the GI like crazy. I've repinned the driver board and mpu, has a new power board repinned. even tried swapping transformers and still does it. game plays fine and everything works otherwise.

  Around 7 years ago, this Skateball machine was purchased for $100 from a closing business in Baltimore. It had sat non-working in the break room for years. While it wasn't a restoration, I am happy with it and finally calling it complete. Too many new parts to list, and I don't want to think about the cost.   3 - The shot paths and mechs seem pretty unique to me on his titles but people speak of similar inspired shots on Gottliebs? Which Gottliebs? I’d love to see the inspiration point I don't share others belief in the gottlieb comparisons, since something like GZ is an amalgamation of two different games- maybe a little Skateball from bally and then sprinkle in some Radical (I know the short ramp is on the left instead of right but you see my point).

  Hawk is a pinball fan. He was a pinball player and owner in the late 80's/early 90's. Tony currently has a machine (skateball) in his office which he used as a filming location for his Hawk vs Wolf show. I saw a show from Mike Vallely on YouTube and it had Mike V. playing an Evel Knievel in his home.

  That's part of the decision when letting one go. What am I going to have to pay if I want it back? At least for me. Ain’t that the truth. You never know how much more you’re going to pay when you want to get a game back. I’m on the hunt for a skateball at the moment. Picked one up fully working for 500 bucks in the past.   I measured up the gate wire for the shooter lane side and modelled it. If you have an account and log in or create an account you can download the file for free - once logged in a download button appears.   thanks for that chimed in - EBD definitely comes up a bit, I had a Skateball years ago and didn't mind the shots and the theme reminded me of cruising the streets in the 80's. I have never played a SS Stern so definitely need to try and find some to play. Flash Gordon has always intrigued me as does Fathom but so expensive. Now I can zero in on some games to watch videos on, thanks for all your input

  Stern: I'm really into flight 2k, but nine ball is pretty sweet too. Bally: Flash Gordon or Skateball for me. Bally didn't have many misses in the early ss era.

  Yes you could put your Skateball SDB in Eight Ball and be ready when turning it ON to turn it OFF immediately if you hear/see the slingshot coil energise. But there is the slightest chance that Q6 on your Skateball SDB is bad also, unlikely but the chance is still possible.

  Alright, So i decided to test my EBD solenoid driver board in my Skateball machine and the board works 100% in skateball. I suspect that the coil must be bad on the slingshot, so i have ordered a new one in. I will report back once that is installed. Thanks everyone for the help and ideas!

  Firmly entrenched. 6 pins in two years (5 LEs and a Skateball!) I have a serious tourney bug right now after going to my second Super Series at D82 and want to continue trying to get better and earn some hardware. Definitely found my end of days hobby.

  @shapeshifter, you happen to be correct, there are a couple of post adjustments on Skateball to make game play easier or harder, the ball will bounce differently depending on which hole you use to secure the post

  Cool! What are you putting it in? Not 100% sure. I tried it out on #skateball tonight but then pulled it back out. It will find it a home I have a few games in mind for it. I wanted to compare it to the Alltek MPU.

  Originally I was collecting drops to build a scratch built Centaur, so there is a set in there for that and most of what I need for Fathom. I think a bank or two for Star Trek and Nitro as well. The 3 sets for Skateball are already in the respective project box as is Flash Gordon. I have some Stern sets in there in case I wish to build Dragonfist or Stargazer.
