  Buy a Sega Maverick. Save thousands and become a drop target sniper addict and a more accurate pinball shooter. If you become highly skilled you will love the Lyman Sheats work and make it to the Wizard mode. Hobbit also sounds like a great choice for you. I am considering one myself for the depth and immersive environment. Plus the machine has drop targets, which I can’t get enough of.

  How come no one has mentioned this one yet… Maverick! What a snoozefest. It takes ages for the ball to get back to the flippers when it gets in the boatwheel. A serious guess would be 15 seconds? It totally kills the flow

  Maverick. It's super fun with all the drop targets, 15, I think. The challenge is completing your poker hand targets while not hitting any of the others. The only problem is the scoring is a bit unbalanced due to the Lauren bell mode can get big points. I picked one up as a project having never played it but it's a keeper. Plus, it's a Sega, stern, data east monstrosity. I really don't know what it is, I guess a stem

  April Fool's day is simply the dumbest day on the calendar and the laziest possible humor. It reminds me of watching Maverick The Movie with my wife (after we got the pin). The movie has a big "twist" at the ending, but all it really is was pointing out that two of the main characters were simply lying the whole time. Since then we always joke about how any lie is a "classic prank"

  I’m really happy for Steve and how his first JJP game turned out! Couldn’t happen to a nicer guy. I’ve had the pleasure of talking to Steve personally at the TPF a few years ago.He literally asked me what I didn’t like about AC/DC and I said the pro artwork sucked lol. Referring to the comments he made at this years TPF about Stern was just old fashioned shit talk that men use to do for fun.Rock on Steve! Hopefully doing Maverick TG next!

  They really can’t leave anything alone. I have little faith in yet another soulless nostalgia-jerkoff cash grab sequel Some of the recent sequels have been pretty okay! Top Gun: Maverick, Max Max: Fury Road, Pee Wee's Big Holiday, Creed, whatever. Edit: also Tim Burton is returning. Most of the bad sequels are not directed by the director of the original.

  My favorites are the punts off the flippers that smack the glass. Just the other day I was playing my Maverick with the glass off and I had 4 balls in play and one ball came right out from the machine lol

  LED OCD is totally different from EnerGI Maestro, hence the different name. Data East used a different setup for GI and the lighting. It’s explained in the beginning of the thread Has nobody tested this in a Maverick? I just picked one up, time to test it out! Maverick and Baywatch are the same generation of the four Jumbo DMD's. Other than ColorDMD, this was the best mod ever for Baywatch.

  I had a similar issue with a different machine. Come to find that the wiring close to the cabinet was getting caught. I made sure all of the wiring was further inside the cabinet and it fixed it. Theres no wires in the Maverick thats getting caught but will check again too make sure thanks

  I am trying to fix a friends Maverick I have never seen this before and I own one my self as well but when u but it into play most of the coils are not working ,no ball comes out ether but when u lift up the PF all the way up the odd thing is most of the coils will work and the flippers too but when u put the PF even half down the coils goes back off very odd any ideas

  Awesome. Found those on ebay for $40 shipped. Need to grab it soon. Again, showing my ignorance: does this change the code at all? Or just what is shown on the display? I have never been able to find a change log for Maverick roms. And I looked everywhere. There is one glitch in the final code that I assume is in the original code. It is pretty complex to explain and I am at work right now but it is in this thread from me and possibly another thread altogether I may have started about it.

  Maverick is back up and running. Got the new display installed today. Ended up being trickier than it needed to be. Apparently, DE/Sega decided it would be smart to reverse the voltages on their different displays. So the 5V wire was feeding into the 12V and vice versa. Luckily I have a buddy who has a tool that can pop the wires out of the connectors, so we did that, then reversed their order. Then it worked great. [att=8044133,3786217 caption=""]

  Done getting my Maverick in working order. Only annoying issue I have is that when the autolauncher puts the ball in play, it frequently goes airborne and hits the ramp causing it to not circle around the upper loop but stop and drop. Coil is correct. I have tried adjusting the lower metal launch ramp but no luck so far. All suggestions welcomed (excluding the ones that state "sell it to me"). :)

  Party Zone is pretty poor unfortunately. Missing frames of color on some animations. Obviously miscolored frames or multiple colors on a frame when there shouldn't be. Maverick is awesome! @nerbflong is ColorDMD's finest!

  Is this a hot take these days of 80" TVs? After getting a high end model 85” and adding Dolby Atmos 5.1 surround system, this has been my take. I’ve gone as far to say I’ll never go to a theater again, but never say never I guess. Last time I went was for Maverick. Maybe I’ll go again for Top Gun 3. To add, in the age of every movie needing to be 2.5+ hrs long these days. I like splitting viewing sessions up. Watched Oppenheimer and Flower Moon in two sittings throughout a day.

  I did. That fuse keeps blowing unless I disconnect the connector in the picture. I looked at the board on the dmd, and there's one spot that looks a bit toasty. So a new display should fix it. If I can't find a cheap one, I'll just have to bite the bullet and buy a color dmd. Color DMD on Maverick is a major upgrade. (Glad ours came with one already installed)

  Been having a display issue with my Maverick. Thought it might be a bridge rectifier, but I replaced that today and it wasn't the problem. Almost certain now that it's the dmd itself. Does anyone out there that has replaced one of the larger DE or Sega displays with a color dmd want to sell their old one for cheap?

  Don’t know if this will help, but when I had my Sega Maverick, I installed plastic washers to isolate the boards from the mounting screws and it seemed to help with the buzz. I also remember people talking about installing a separate power supply to feed voltage to the sound board.

  I watch the old episodes far too much I am in danger of turning into my girlfriend's late father. Today's TV shows are not to my taste. So, Gunsmoke, Bonanza, Wanted: Dead or Alive, Maverick. For a little bit I could find episodes of Sea Hunt to watch but it has vanished. Disappeared. Just gone. I learned a lot by watching Seahunt. I learned about octopus, hammerhead shark, nurse shark, mako shark, Scuba gear, kelp, wet suits, and......the bends :-)

  @garrett if you love drop targets I recommend you jump to a Sega Maverick. Lyman F. Sheats, Jr. code. Cool large DMD display. Affordable price. Distinct modes that make sense. A skill shot plunger that is fun and helps direct your game play. I’m sorry I sold mine and I’m keeping an eye out for a replacement. Has a wizard mode that I wasn’t ever able to get to on 3 ball play, but I was super close. Shots for days on that game. So many precise shots are needed.

  Not sure I can spend any less on pinball compared to 2023. Only bought one game and can't even remember buying any parts or anything else. Still on the look out for a Ringer or a Maverick though. John

  Maverick is very good, it's getting a little less smooth now that it's got years on it, but very good and the lines sometimes are just ZERO and you can go back to back to back to back to back to back lol Steel Vengeance and Orion are probably the crown jewels of Ohio right now, Maverick is awesome but Taron looks so much better since it's a newer build of the style of coaster, kinda like comparing Raptor to Banshee

My favorite ride at Cedar Point isn't the highest or fastest or anything. I love the Maverick. Have you been on it? It has just the right amount of everything for me and a western theme to boot. Just a load of fun.

  On Maverick I turn the game on the lights flash on the playfield. The stage coach ramp both lights blink. However when I play the game only the left stage coach light blinks not the right one. I switched the bulbs but bulb is fine. I did have to take out a bulb near the pop bumpers as it was dead believe it’s an 89 bulb haven’t replaced it wondering if that is why. Just strange it’s fine before game begins. Your thoughts I have limited knowledge so might be a silly question

  Switch test says entrance opto is bad. Would a faulty, Dirty, misaligned entrance opto cause this or am I barking up the wrong tree? It probably isn't helping. I remember something similar with my Maverick when I got it but I can't remember what caused it, but that boat entrance opto not working correctly is likely involved. I would defiantly pull out those opto boards, clean them, reflow the connectors and optos and align them properly just to rule that out as a the cause.

  Good morning. Thanks in advance. I have a very nice Maverick that is nearly playing perfect. The problem is when I turn it on and start a game, the lauren bell animation is immediately on the dmd and the LB horn is constantly blowing. Also, the skill shot LEDs aren't lit either. The game plays and balls will lock as they should in the LB . Switch test says entrance opto is bad. Would a faulty, Dirty, misaligned entrance opto cause this or am I barking up the wrong tree?

  There’s a service billeting someplace that talks about how to change the connector to draw power from a better source on the board. I think rebuilding my display connector helped when I had a Maverick.

  Just booted up Maverick today. Has been working fine, but suddenly the DMD is blank. Sound all works fine. Game can be played and seems to run normally. But the display stays black. I tried reseating all the connectors and ribbon cables. No luck there. What would be the next step?

  I should be getting my Maverick this Saturday. Is there anything I should be looking for initially that I should keep an eye out for? I am getting the machine for nearly free, and from the pics it looks like it is in good condition, but I won't truly know until I get it home, plugged in, and a few games played. I know I should take the batteries out and order an NVRAM chip, but besides that I am not sure what else should be a priority.

  I personally don’t think they are too expensive with a kick ass topper but has to be loaded and great theme. Top gun maverick would kill it.
