  Had my weebly SB300 arrive for gamatron. Have the wiring harness for the ribbon cable plugs. Wondering what wires need to go where for the lower J2 and J3 connectors? I assume the 2 speaker wires go somewhere, and assume power somewhere else? I saw some pics a page or so back, but i don't have the same plugs.   I don't think PINSTAR ever released any speech for it Correct. The VSU-2 uses the same callouts as flight 2000 except for the letters / "gamatron" (blastoff) callout, which were cobbled together from other Stern games

  I have my gamatron running on a replacement MPU running F2K plus a SB300. It works fine that way. I think I had ... of the wiring should match the SB300. Technically if you where converting a MPU200 game to gamatron you wouldnt need the add on board, just F2K ROMs for the MPU, but all ... the bally hardware lacked the memory and sound gamatron/f2k needs. I don't think PINSTAR ever released any speech for it.

  Ahh righto - i was led to believe it said Gamatron during multiball - is that the only difference? So best bet is to get a sound board - which one do you reccomend? There is a repro speech board that does have a Gamatron setting. I plan to pursue getting one after my game is running properly.

  The experience gained from that is that when I did the flight 2k swap, I purposely put the posts behind the 5 bank slightly back from the bank and moved the bank slightly forward when mounting. No bricking. THAT reminds me! You know what drop banks NEVER have any problems at all EVER? Like not 1 single time... The one's that Pinstar installed in Gamatron. Those are an engineering marvel!

  2023 projects: I now own a working Tommy I saved from a dumpster along with a working Gamatron. I have also made a goal to do a scratch built Dragonfist along with an original homebrew in 2024.   Stern Galaxy is absolutely dreadful. The art is really bad, there's no slingshots, the layout is incredibly uninspired, F2K/Gamatron does everything Galaxy does but infinitely better.

  We brought Gamatron last year, people loved it. Was gonna bring again, but I guess Mike is taking a Gamatron. So we will be bringing Stern Lightning to fit in Prusas row of classic sterns. I'd be open to selling it while there.   You’re using the psm board But I'm not using a PSM board, I don't have one. I am using a Stern MPU with F2K roms and a stock Stern sb-300 sound board. I took a great deal of time and care documenting my process on paper so that someone else could also do this if all they had was a Gamatron playfield.

  Here’s a shot of the current donor cabinet setup. It’s a bit rough. I started to assemble it into a Gamatron….and it might be that someday if I can’t find a better donor machine to start from. But this is what I got for now, so Gamatron is out for now. I used this same cabinet to house a Fathom build last year till I found a better donor cabinet to convert to Fathom.   Need some Gamatron expert advice. Mike? I have some connectors from the playfield and I don’t know what to do ... combine all the wires from both connectors to make one connector? Just plug in the Gamatron one? What do the three wires farthest to the right do?   I’m sorry, I should’ve clarified. The Gamatron back glass has a false zero. My desire is to remove that false Zero and to install seven digit displays. This makes the game look more complete, in my opinion, of course. Some guys may really love having the whole zero to tell the story of gamatron

  I know that but, will Flight 2K run with six digit wiring+displays? If you do the modifications in the gamatron manual, yes. That's how it normally works, since it was designed to work with six digit games

  The gamatron PCB basically turns a regular mpu into a 200 stern mpu, and adds an SB-300 sound board, so I think you're good as is with a regular MPU-200 and SB-300, as long as it's all wired up correctly The gamatron backglass has the trailing zero included, but if you remove the light behind it it's hard to see. I think using six digit or seven digit is really just your personal preference

  Glad you enjoyed it! We took it to clepin last fall and they really enjoyed it there also![quoted image] I’ve got a flight 2000 and it’s really surprising how well that layout translates to a standard width game. F2k is a great wide body, but gamatron is the best version.

  Hey guys I am looking to finish up assembly on a gamatron playfield that I am restoring. I am at a standstill however because the rails i have with this playfield are flaking and rusty. I could get these re-plated, but I am wondering if there is a company out there that can remake the metal rails?   I don't think that shot is really possible. Even on F2k it's hard, and F2k at least uses stern drop targets. Gamatron doesn't use a stern mech, and sterns are the ones that are sweepable. On my Gamatron the shot feeds the ball right into the side of the drops like you'd want but it'll just knock down the lowest target at best before ricocheting off into the pop

  Fun topic This era of games is my current favorite, but not only Sterns. I’ve had a few come and go, but I’m quite happy with the current line up of Black Hole Nine Ball Eight Ball Deluxe Gamatron (honorable mention as it came out later but is clearly Flight 2000’s little brother)

Brigitt Berk informed us that more "Flippies" have been ordered. I'd recommend sending a message to the Expo Page on Facebook to be put into an ordering queue. Maybe a year ago one mpu was returned on ... , a test fixture, or any other game. In fact I think that board is still in my Gamatron which is the same software running fine.   You're always so prepared for this... I’m actually doing alright. Bullseye 301, and Algar should be done by tomorrow. Gamatron, and TX Sector are what’s left for the pins, and the direct hit prototype arcade. Some cool stuff coming. :)

  Unfortunately I became quite ill yesterday morning. And not that better today, so none of my games or myself will be attending today. Possibly tomorrow ... hopefully . So no gamatron, Halloween, Dr who, or JJP GNR. I was also supposed to work the tournament today from 2-5 , so if anyone wants to take a one hour slot or more there will be an opening

  I think Multimorphic is doing a good job in filling that niche with the P3. The industry has tried many times to get conversion kits to take off in the past, but the demand just isn't there. Gary Stern knows first hand with PinStar. The company's focus was to make conversion kits for Early Solid State machines. Their first and only conversion kit was titled Gamatron and it flopped. Gary doesn't even remember how many he sold. Shortly after that, PinStar folded and Data East Pinball was born.
