I started driving in 1978 and I remember about $.42 a gallon. But, my memory of the 70s might be a little foggy. I do however remember the second round of gas lines where we would break out the fold up chairs, put the house speakers I had in my Galaxie on top of the thing, and make a real party out of it. Wouldn't it be cool to relive those days?

Any Carnuba Wax will do. I use McGuire's on my Galaxie and my PFs. Definitely clean that thing and wax it. I usually do it in sections to make removal/replacement on topside parts easier to manage/remember (until I have had a machine apart a few times). Then play the hell outta that thing. As far as PF wear / Damage goes, yours doesn't look too bad (unless it has been touched up, can't tell) at all. Congrats. Such and awesome machine. Don't think I would part with mine.

How about a donor backbox that's in better shape? If I find another wedgehead of similar vintage (but not a 2001/Dimension/Galaxie), can I expect the backbox to fit my backglass and internals? How odd that I have an AAB coin acceptor plate. That explains why there was a second bulb underneath it, shining away completely enclosed by wood/metal.

Posted over 5 years ago by leckmeck – in EM Pinball Hangout ‐ Last reply over 3 years ago

Is the Italian NOS PF really a Dimension, or is it possibly an italian export version of same game, Galaxie? Gottlieb used the same board for both games. The upper left corner has this text printed on it: DIMENSION 308 GALAXIE 306 It was around this time that Gottlieb standardized one table design for domestic and export AAB games. Slightly earlier games like Solitaire / Diamond Jack and Bumper Pool / Mini Pool had different tables.

Or driving off a cliff in my Galaxie 500, or even flipping a Boston Whaler and watching that 50 horse Mercury prop spinning out of control waiting for it to come down and hit me and slice me to pieces. I'll probably always have a Ford car. Our 68 Galaxie has been a very reliable back-up and weekend cruiser. My old 07 Mercury (Ford) Mountaineer can haul two EM pins and hasn't given me any trouble in 5 years. I'm hoping to squeeze at least 200k out of it. At 130k now. Some people love getting a new set of wheels. Not me, I like the comfort and familiarity of something tried and true. And no payments. :-)

That Galaxie is freakin' sweet. Clone of 2001/Dimension. Actually it's a clone of Gottlieb's "Galaxie" which is their export version of "Dimension". "2001", being a replay game with different artwork, is more like a cousin rather than a sibling.

Gottlieb made the playfield and the entire game "Galaxie" just like they made all the export games with their name on them. The "bootleg" ... well. Gottlieb made "Lucky Strike" for export to Italy, but this "El Dorado" is a copy. "Galaxie" was made by Gottlieb, but not for the US market. It has an identical playfield ...

That's interesting about the Galaxie. IPDB shows it as a Gottlieb but are you saying yours has Skillgame badging? I've got a NOS Dimension playfield hanging in my basement that is labeled Dimension/Galaxie.

LOVED the Mustang, but the Galaxie is a better car in most respects (more comfortable, better ride, bigger trunk, a functional back seat, etc). My wife misses the Mustang, I hear about it constantly. Sold a 58 Studebaker Silver Hawk to buy a 30 Model A Tudor hot rod, sold the Model A to buy a 57 Fairlane Hardtop, sold the Fairlane to buy a Triumph TR6, probably going to sell the TR to buy more pins. Though, if summer ever comes to MN I may change my mind. The TR is a REALLY fun car.

I collect/restore muscle cars (specifically 1966 Ford Galaxies Cool. I had a '66 Galaxie in high school (in '96). Had a 289 engine. Couldn't have anything in the trunk because the fenders rusted through and things would fall through. Got rid of it when i looked under it one day and saw the frame had holes in it behind the front wheels.

A friend of mine gave me a 7 Litre Galaxie (428) hard top and I liked it so much that I sold my other cars and picked up a 500 convertible, 7 Litre convertible with 4 speed and also a 65 XL hard top. I found a few friends into them as well and we started a local Galaxie club. Steve My Dad's first car was a '66 Galaxy with the 390. How'd you get that specific into things?
