Gottlieb Spin Wheel - Flipper Parade Help Post #7 in topic

Posted over 7 years ago by KingNine – in EM Pinball Tech ‐ Last reply over 7 years ago

Well I was correct that it wasn't the ratchets. The new springs were working for those. It was in fact the first thing I thought it was but had eliminated - The set screws were slipping on the axle. This time I took a sharpie and marked the axle and the wiper board and ran it through a bunch of rotations. They were way off when I was finished. It's working great now. Just need to adjust a few switches for better contact and I'll have a darn good looking Flipper Parade. Thanks for the input as always!!!

Not too easy to sell ... someone just two miles away was making light boxes from old EMs, so I think that Flipper Parade might have ended the same way if I hadn't grabbed it. All three games are Exhibit Supply Company games (commonly known as "ESCO"). The game on the far right end is a 1941 ESCO "Big Parade" and the second game from the end is a 1941 ESCO "West Wind". The one all the way to the left is a 1940 ESCO "Zombie". Most definitely pre-flipper and early WW II vintage. I would imagine a pack of smokes was like gold to a young sailor back then.

While I'm not really an AAB guy, it would be kind of cool to have a RG and a PG next to each other. Of course, that would probably lead to the question of "why do you have the same game" and the explanation that they really aren't the same wouldn't probably fly. I almost bought a Flipper Parade once, but I just didn't like it well enough for what he wanted. Lots of restoration on it was needed too.

I currently have Sittin Pretty, Sweet Hearts, Sky Line, Sing Along and Target Alpha as my Gottlieb line up and would like to add an AAB. There is a nice Majorettes on eBay and I have a line on a FP. Given the above games, which would you prefer to add to that line up - Flipper Parade or Majorettes and why? Would you pick another AAB instead? (A really nice Hurdy Gurdy would tempt me) Thanks!

I can say that 4 square was the only machine I owned for over 10 yrs. so many others came and went but it managed to stay for a reason. even though I have mostly replays I do like the AAB games that are not to easy. the only exception are the flipper series, the were made only as AAB and all are good games top two IMO are flipper and flipper parade

Yea, I thought that too about the Flipper Parade. I think the flipper series is somewhat of a specialty market. You have to like AABs, and early 60's style game play. There are far less collectors that remember these games from their youth-that don't already own them.....Not like an Eldorado, C-37 etc. where modern game collectors see them and think they are sexy and want to own one-sometimes just as a status symbol. 8O
