  That blob of solder is the so called slam switch mod. It disables the slamswitch as the normally closed slamswitch contact can cause problems over the time. Gottlieb later ( around Excalibur, Big House ) applied a normally open slamswitch at the coindoor to avoid this problem.

  Were there 2 versions? This may be a proto? Even the pf art is different in that area. Interesting observation. Also note how the backbox design and display is the same as games like Excalibur and Robo War. Might be an early production model here. Really cool find!   Gotta bring this thread back unfortunately. I have a swemmer sys80 board in my Excalibur that's about a year old. It suddenly stopped booting yesterday. No displays, nothing but gi. I have a rottendog driver board in it and it is supplying the 5volts. All leds on the Swemmer are green except for Led18, but I don't know if that's always been that way. I tried reseating the roms, all connectors/connections are solid, I tried removing the nvram. Nothing. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated!

  Just finished a pinball night,with the crew test driving the games for the show and campcade. Show: Excalibur, Tile Fight, Big Daddy, Fireball '72 Camp: Oh Boy, Grand Prix @Pinballlew took $5 from me playing Oh Boy, and set high score on it AND Grand Prix, which he rolled. @jbovenzi's Fireball '72 is a screamer. All games performed admirably and are now deemed show-ready. See everybody soon; gotta go reserve my trailer.

  I guess, now that you mention it...I had some pretty long balls when I played it. The fact that those are passive slings (just a rubber, no kicker), makes it significantly easier. Excalibur has those also, so I imagine there are others from that time period that do too.

  Very nice find and a bit jealous! They used an Excalibur/RoboWar cabinet for that one. Try to make backups from the roms if possible. Steve Young is selling alternate slingshot plastics for Big House - the same as those in your Big House.

  It's missing the rotating spotlight on the right but other than that it looks complete and only noticed 2 cracked plastics, great game and hard to find Absolutely. I’ve heard it referred to as “the poor man’s Kingpin”. Definitely an awesome and rare find. I want an Excalibur, which aren’t easy to find either. Congrats Danny...great addition to the line up.

Of course, the PROM1 and PROM2 set must be coherent. If you use a 715 PROM1, you mandatory need a 715 PROM2 (and not a X or Y).

  A friend of mine asked help with an G. Excalibur. Game rom 2 did not work. The rom from web can not be writen into chip due some kind of error. The same chip with other roms works ok. The pcbs with other rom set works ok. So we would like to ask someone who has a 100% working set of excalibur roms plese share it with us. Thanks

  The Big Apple Arcade (and roller coaster) @ NYNY is pretty darn cool (hence why we always stay there when in Vegas). Looks like they have changed some of the tables since we were there (they had a JJP WoZ).   Even though I am handicapped I hope to bring machines to the show here someday. One of the posters mentioned his Excalibur. I played that twice. I like the dynamic of bringing games. This is a great show!

  You are wrong: Robo-War is the better game. I actually will be listing my TX for sale soon, but Robo is staying! They are honestly both great. If you like drop targets then excalibur is in the same calibur of game.

  Just saw it with my family. It was really well done. Although there was a lot of deviation from the book, it was well adapted for a 2 hour movie. The unabridged Audible version is 15hrs 46mins.   I have a Robowar, Excalibur and I’m on my second TX. Had a victory and Bone Busters and replaced those with ice fever and spring break. Victory was ok for awhile, just got boring and BB was missing the topper so I let it go. Big hockey fan so ice fever stays and spring break is surprisingly fun once you take it off the multiball start. Excalibur is my favorite of the bunch. I’d keep Robowar and look for a Tx as said above, tough to find once gone.

  I suggest not asking about the "BEST" because it will just limit your pinball experience. SOF is a fun system 11 game. Big Guns is one not mentioned but not a favorite of mine. Excalibur is another one that is fun.

  Gonna be honest that if you really want to trade for a TX, you will probably ned to offer a bit of cash to help bait for one/ chum the water. Reality is that Tx sells for more than Robo. Not by much, but enough that anyone willing to think about letting a TX go will want some incentive :) I still vote to keep the Robo AND find a TX. After that, go get an Excalibur :)
