I think it's odd too, that the Game Over light is on only when he rotates the player unit one position. I think when you power on the machine, after ending a game, that light should be on. Sherlock Holmes would say that this is a clue. If anyone can post that relevant part of the schematic from Surfer, that would be helpful, in case Card Whiz isn't the same.

Three Inch Feet on EM Pinball Machines? Post #1 in topic

Posted 19 months ago by DanMarino – in EM Pinball Hangout ‐ Last reply 19 months ago

Hi Guys, I have a Card Whiz that is playing pretty slow and floaty. I was looking at the adjustable feet on the machine and comparing it to my Flight 2000 and High Speed. Both of the solid state machines had 3 inch adjustable feet on them and the Card Whiz only has 2 inch feet. Is it common practice to install feet with 3 inch adjustable bolts on the back of EM's? Thanks for your feedback. Tom

I've played some more games of Card Whiz since repairing the buzzing 10 point score reel for player #2. It continues to work well now that I found the switch that needed adjustment. Next I gotta figure out why the ball 4 light is illuminated all the time. I'm thinking I messed something up on the player unit. So I'll have to figure out which switch that is. I'm guessing it is on the player #2 switch stack, since I was messing with that. Hopefully it's easy to resolve this weekend.

I don’t see any obvious shorts or anything out of place, though, and it only just started doing it, and doesn’t even do it 100% of the time. Did you end up hunting down the problem @markanderson ?

Working on a Gottlieb Card Whiz. I own and am looking at the schematic. Scoring a pink or white rollover or a pink or white target also scores the green. It does not seem like it is a switch which would also make sense as a switch would typically trigger another switch or a target would trigger another target but not both.

Do I need to clean the contacts? I have heard some people say that it is important to cover the rivets on most steppers with grease that keeps it from oxidizing. Others have said to leave it shiny with no grease. Which is correct?

Oh, it's gettin' crazy out here! My Card Whiz chimes on B / D / F# Minor triad, but lower than pinbee's. Quick Draw chimes on C# / D# / F#...definitely not Phrygian, Lydian or Lochrian. I'll need a 4th chime to lock it down.... Were those designers music majors as well? Is there a puzzle in the pitches they used...a secret message perhaps? Maybe if I play the game backwards...

I have a card whiz and the eject hole special light does light up after the 3 jokers are hit for 3 ball play. But, for 5 ball play after the 3 jokers are hit and 10 point bumper is registered, the light flickers for a second and goes dark. Once the ball goes in the hole, a game is rewarded. ...any idea why the light flickers on the 5 ball game, but fully lights on the 3 ball game?

How much does everyone think Punchy the Clown will go for ? If it stays in line with other rare but non-licensed themes, I’d say 6k. Some very rare games sold for reasonable prices. Then total trash sells for 5x retail I had to laugh that Card Whiz immediately hit the price they wanted and they sold it in less than 2 minutes. So easy to tell when the invisible reserve is met.

Royal Flush Incorrect Scoring Post #12 in topic

I have a Card Whiz at home that I play every day. I'm not aware that it has any sort of memory between players - just resets between each ball/player like other EM multi-player machines. It does have double bonus on the final ball, but many other machines do as well - doesn't even have the triple bonus that some '70s games do. I wonder what he meant. They did do that SS remake of the game in 1983 - Royal Flush Deluxe.
