Fun day of playing in pinball tournaments, visiting with friends, and eating good food on Sat Dec 2nd, 2017, in southwest Louisiana. Plans are to have the main tournament be a single elimination, best 3 out of 5 matches type format, and to also have 2 to 4 smaller side tournaments, with some side tournaments being played on only specific machines such as Medusa and Varkon. Tournaments will be registered with IFPA and players will earn WPPR points, which the IFPA tracks. Main tourney will be limited to 32 players or less, with random seeding.
Format for Medusa side tournament played on a Medusa pinball machine will consist of all players entered playing 2 qualifying games, recording their scores, with their highest score being used for ranking, and the 4 players with highest scores advancing to a 1 game play-off round, and then 2 players with highest scores in play-offs advancing to a 1 game finals round.
Format for Varkon side tournament played on a Varkon pinball machine will consist of all players entered playing 2 qualifying games, recording their scores, with their highest score being used for ranking, and the 4 players with highest scores advancing to a single elimination format bracket with a best of 1 game play-off round, and finals round. In the play-off round, the 2-player games will be: #1 seed vs #4 seed, and #2 seed vs #3 seed.
Should a machine break down during a tournament, then the tournament director will select another machine to use, so that the tournament can continue. There will be a mixture of pinball machines dating from the 1970's up through 2014 or possibly newer modern models, one or more e-m type machines, classic solid state type, and modern dmd machines.
Bring whatever snacks and drinks you want. The main meat food will be provided for players (smoked beef briskets and sausage I believe). A $15 (possibly $20) entry fee per player provides entry into all tournaments (main and side tournaments), and to enjoy some of the main meat dish. The entry fees will be used to cover costs of trophies, prizes, and the main meat dishes. There will not be any cash prize payouts. Trophies for 1st place winners only. Early arrival time is 11:15 am, practice time from 11:15 am to 1 pm, with main tournament starting around 1:30 pm. Lunch time 12:15 to 1 pm. Go over tournament details and rules from 1 to 1:15 pm.
